The day of the daughters wedding scene was a bold choice, though I’m sure all the 4 year old godfather fans were happy to see it.
How the hell
Those scenes are for the adults forced to watch the movie
Ding
They did the same damn thing in Zootopia
e
I’m surprised there wasn’t a sin knocked off for when they’re at the track and Sykes tells Oscar “You can’t even afford the gum under the seats!” Still one of the best movie burns I’ve heard.
Interesting
Pfft yeah that had me laughing
That's the best one you ever heard? Okay lol.
@@fairyhaven13 I said one of the best. But just like everyone in my life you don’t try to figure out what’s going on before making fun of me.
Why do fish chew gum? With what hands do they open the wrapper or put it under the chair? How does a fish get chewable gum underwater? Why do fish sit on chairs?
**ding**
The fish tank is probably because piranha are freshwater fish, although I doubt the movie writers thought that far
Neeeerrrrrd!
@@ThatCoalSoul teeheehee
It's funny because it's true
Piranha are found in the ocean... Never forget the idiot who was brave enough to float a weak boat over them. That's playing with your life right there.
@@horacejohnson1730 the idea that piranhas are viscous attacking fish is a huge historical misconception. I don’t know the exact details but it started from some shady guys who wanted to get the fish to attack some political enemy. They had piranhas that they starved, so as to make them desperately hungry, and then induced them with high stress, and then when their adversary boated through the fish they attacked them. In reality piranhas are unlikely to attack unprovoked.
@@horacejohnson1730 No they're not. Pirahnas are freshwater fish. If you're going to correct someone's correction at least be correct.
As a child, I used to watch shark tale on a small DVD screen hanging from the roof of our family car on long trips. Then I grew up and thought the entire movie was a fever dream version of finding Nemo because nobody talked about it when internet was taking off. A few years ago I found my Slandering Shark Tale people and I've been happy since
I watched this movie so many times on that tiny tv
Same we took many cross country trips and it was either this or every single barbie movie
@@opencabinets Barbie and the nutcracker is an underrated masterpiece.
@@opencabinets the one where they go horse back riding in Switzerland
Omg same I loved watching it on long road trips
Thank you, CinemaSins, for confirming that this movie was indeed not part of my childhood fever dreams.
For me, as a kid I watched one of the later seasons of ALF while nearly delirious with fever. To this day, I have no ideas which parts actually happened and which parts I only think happened because I had a 103 temperature at the time.
I saw this film in theaters as a kid, and even then, I 100% could feel that sensation it was playing up to me. The product placement, Will Smith just being himself, that line about having the PS2 hookup in the room, it actually made me laugh because I just felt in the back of my head "Oh yeah, you are so hip with me." The thing that intrigued me most as a kid was how the promoter character actually stuck around in the film longer than I expected, and I even remember finding him funnier than I thought, and that was way before I knew who Martin Scorsese was and adds a more surreal layer for me as an adult. Also this is a clear showcase as to why making the underwater world mirror our own in such a way is beyond distracting compared to the effort Finding Nemo did before in just having it feel socially similar and that's all.
I must’ve been a dumbass because I did not. Not even remotely. Wasn’t until like 16/17 I realize the level of advertising in everything now I can’t enjoy shows anymore
Too. Many. Words.
@@abermelonyt1444 if you cant read or focus for the 4 seconds it takes to read this thats on you my guy.

@@abermelonyt1444 You Dumb
Haha
(My last comment had too many words)
@@ashtonoak4370 no I was reading on a phone and by head started to hurt
This movie is so weirdly fascinating to me. I genuinely think a version with humans could make a fun movie. Do you know how badly I'd watch this kind of plot in an animated film, but instead of being a dumb kid's movie, it went all out with the dark humor & dangerous situations? Maybe I'm just insane after watching it so many Times in the past.
I agree, though I don't see a way around the core plot being a "liar revealed" story
Apparently there's clips online of Will and Jack just having an absolute blast recording their lines- it's just a lot of the fun is lost through animation.
@@blahthebiste7924 Have it be that Oscar ACTUALLY killed the shark/mafioso. But he's terrified of the guys understandably out to get him for it now. He's not John Wick, he's a car wash attendant that kicked the guy down some stairs or into one of the big moving parts of the wash.
@@blahthebiste7924 , yeah thinking about it now, Oscar is basically Evan Hansen (film version), or vice-versa....
@@Nu_Gundam78 I feel like I've seen that plot before somewhere, can't quite figure out where though
Out of all the “So bad it’s good” movies I’ve ever seen, this is by far my absolute favourite.
I guess that movie was entertaining in that way... Maybe a little too competent for me(although still not good) but I enjoyed it noneless.
For a moment, I was actually surprised by how low the final tally was at the end of the movie, and then they did the bonus round. Lol. The movie really isn’t bad, but it does have a lot of questionable themes in it.
Is bonus round a new thing? Why did they even do it
@@adamH.1 it's for occasions where calling out every time something that needs sinned would take to long and they still want to show every time. Also it's way more fun than "here's 30 sins for all the times they do this."
It goes as far back as the room and iron man 3 I think
@@TheOneAndOnlyTakati I definitely remember The Room because it actually had multiple bonus rounds, resulting in over 1.5 billion Sin points.
@@Dark_Mishra Wait, what the hell?!? I thought the highest the Sin Counter ever was was in Home Alone 2 with the Donald Trump guest star appearance!
I must be the only one who not only remembers this film well from my childhood, but FONDLY. I liked it.
No you're not. I loved it! Still do. I'm actually surprised that people in the comments seem to dislike/have disliked it so much. I don't care for the Sins. I don't care if it makes sense. I love it still. And those bonus dance tutorials on the DVD version? I performed the shrimp choreo for marks at school and I aced it so ... CinemaSins can go sin itself! 😂😂😂
I watched this at least 3 times a month as a kid. It's one of my favorite silly kids movies. The character designs are awesome, everything is super colorful, and most of it is actually really funny. The look Sykes gives when Baby Got Back starts playing makes me laugh every time.
*sigh* I like the movie too. It may have its shortcomings, and while i'm reluctant to outright saying that it's great unironically, i still like the movie.
One thing that a lot of people seem to mention about this movie is the the whole dance montage gimmick at the end of the movie. This gimmick was cute for a while in other movies previously, but this movie apparently killed its charm for movies afterward. Also, after watching this video, I completely forgot, after so many years, about the cannibalism gag.
Same
What I love about Don lino is that he has a mole because the fact that Robert De Niro voices him. A really good detail.
I didn't even notice. I love little details like that.
@@NiikkiiCakessTalks that's why I love details.
A lot of the time, animated characters are modeled after their voice actors lol
That's also why Oscar has large fins on the sides of his head. Will Smith has huge ears.
@@dchawk81 I didn't think about that

This movie will always be special to me, when my childhood home had its basement redone in 2010 my siblings and I watched this movie on the dvd every night.
I'm not a fan of this movie, but that does sound like an awesome time in your memory
I will unashamedly say that I actually love this movie and can’t find one flaw. Truly a timeless masterpiece. Now go ahead and roast me in the comments.
There are no really big flaws, is just meh and quite boring.
You're totally right I agree as Youngbadult male
@@TunaBear64never heard anymore call shark tale boring
This movie was so important to my childhood I honestly just had fun watching it with you😭
3:59 was 1000% percent me watching this as a kid lmao
Same 😂
Also sin the fact that the piranhas are in the middle of the ocean, even though they are in a freshwater tank. How is that even possible? Piranhas could not survive saltwater, and it's very unlikely that Don Lino (the godfather shark) would be able to enter the Amazon River to collect these piranhas due to great white sharks being exclusively saltwater fish. That is one of, if not the most confusing thing about this movie in my opinion.
Despite this, I actually enjoyed this movie. ;)
They could go to the edge and buy some piranha fish tank from the freshwater mafia boss.
Don Lino certainly could afford it :)
@@arian512
They probably had to go to the river Bank to take out a deposit. Guess sharks ain't just in the ocean because those high-interest loans are a killer.
It was a bull shark poacher
🤓
Was waiting for this haha. This is a guilty pleasure for me. Even more interesting to watch knowing Will Smith now
@@gr6373 Their comment didn’t idolize anyone. But don’t worry, you’re still smart. :)
@@ViltrumiteIsRite99 How would the slap incident change how you view a movie about a fucking fish unless you had preconceived notion of who Will Smith was as a person and hero worshiped his celebrity status? "Willie shocked us all, he was so good to his son in Pursuit of Happiness😱"
@@gr6373 You’re dense
Nobody is on about any of that.
When I was younger, I remember having an issue of a comic with a page dedicated to an ad or some such for this movie. I had to turn it over when I went to sleep because the protagonist's face was absolutely terrifying to me.
I was obsessed with this movie as a kid, but I couldn't even tell you why. It's by no means good but I'll defend it and say most of its faults disappear when dubbed into other languages (how I saw it), bc the celeb associations and some weird lines are gone. Also I must shamefully admit that as a gay kid I related to Lenny a painful amount.
2:28 As a kid, I never got what the joke was even supposed to be, because I thought the main ingredients in sushi were the seaweed and rice.
It wasn't until I watched the Sopranos when I realised that Frankie was voiced by Micheal Imperioli. Whoever wrote this film really wanted to hammer in all the Goodfellas and Sopranos references
I was about to comment that this movie has way less sins than I expected, but then, a bonus round appeared, and now I have to continue.
From 99 to 138, it feels much more better
Crazy how that young love scene actually foreshadowed the real Will Smith😂
Oh boy i've been waiting for this, i thought CinemaSins would never get to this film and i'm glad that they have! however i must admit that while i enjoy Shark Tale even i noticed at least some of it's flaws.
The whole movie is a flaw, and that's it's beauty.
Had movie night and it was the best movie night i ever had.
@@dondewan Indeed, Shark Tale is one of those movies that reviewer say is and i quote is "So bad, it's actually good"
Yes! I've been waiting for this for years! One of my favorite movies! Thank you!
I have a few mates who hate this movie and I don't know why. This film was what got me into Will Smith and is a treasured part of my childhood
Even as a kid, watching this movie I picked up that Oscar made some terrible life decisions that kinda make it hard to root for the guy😅

I've noticed that every time he sins a kids movie made between 2000 and 2010, commenters always refer to it as a masterpiece. I'm guessing it's because the average person watching is roughly 20-25 years old and is thinking back to their childhood when judging these movies, while cinemasins judges them as an adult
To this day, "Shark Tale" just seems like a weird fever dream.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with Shark Tales and it has been proven that the DVD is the CEO of Ubisoft which makes it a masterpiece
Huh?

A M O G U S ?
He didn’t give any sins for the gold digger scene? Shocking.
It probably reminded him of how bad he was at sex white his college girlfriend that he hasn’t got over in like 10 years
I saw this movie as an adult with my eight-year-old daughter - we didn’t like it, we didn’t hate it, we really didn’t know what to think, But we never bought or rented the video… Which was rare for us.
Almost forgotten about it…. Does have some trippie early 21st century cultural references
@8:57 the subtitles, say, "and if, God forbid", but I listened to it like 5 times, and I'm pretty sure he ACTUALLY says, "cod forbid" which is hilarious if true.
Happy this movie still getting light because I loved it as a kid. It’s different and I wanted a sequel
You forgot another sin, considering the amount of advertisements Oscar was included in because everyone believed he slayed the shark, if he told the truth to everyone he’d likely go to jail for fraud
I actually have this headcanon that Luka (the octopus) was trying to make the threatening phone call, but Bernie and Ernie kept goofing around and hanging up 😹
CinemaSins finally answered my prayers for this movie. I wanted them to do this movie so bad.
Dispite this movies flaws I still love it and think it has some genuinely hilarious moments
Honestly the theme in this movie would fit into literally anything else than a kids movie more

This movie EASILY could’ve been live action. From the characters, plot, everything. The only reason they made this animated and underwater was because of the success of finding Nemo!
14:12 I got 99 sin and a fish ain't one.
I loved this movie as a kid, and I'm surprised you didn't mention Lenny's vegetarian lifestyle being an allegory for being gay. When I was in school kids still used 'gay' as a way to describe things, and the movie has a great message of kindness and tolerance that other kids films didn't. It's also probably where I got most of my film references from, and cemented my love of the big and small screens.
Edit: I'm a trans gay man, and I think some of y'all need to keep the opinions on queer people to yourself - I don't think everything is 'about gays' - I just pointed out the subtext my father had explained to me, and how it affected me. And we aren't 'gays', we're gay people. Emphasis on the people bit, cause, y'know, we have feelings too :)
Not everything is about gays.

I remember watching Shrek 2 on DVD as a four year old, and there would always be trailers for Madagascar and Shark Tale. And even then I understood how truly awful this movie was every single time I saw the advertisement for it while I waited for Shrek 2 to finally start.

I can't believe that Shark Tale predicted Among Us, bravo Vince
This movie is a masterpiece and nothing will convince me otherwise
I freaking loved this movie as a teen and love it more as an adult. My sister and I quote it regularly
Another one of my "I thought that this movie just was a fever dream" moments.
It's oddly bizarre and strange, but somehow you think about it now and then for no clear reason.
Bloody loved this movie as a kid … and highkey still do
10:05 keep your damn sharks, out... my... fuckin... reef!
I still think the Spongebob Squarepants movie was robbed for an Oscar nomination for best animated movie and not this movie. I always think Shark Tale was bad and overrated
I genuinely don't care what anybody else says this is one of my favorite movies because it is from my childhood
No species of shark is known to be " warm blooded"( correctly called endothermy) which signifies an animal that maintains a ( relatively) constant internal temperature. Great whites, and some other related sharks do not maintain a constant( or near constant) intenral temperature. What they do do is maintain an internal temperature an approximately constant level above the ambient temperature( which has been called poikilothermy by some).
Over on CinemaWins could we get everything GREAT about Shark Tale soon. In everything great about Rise of Skywalker the narrator said that even awful movies, he knows that there’s at least someone out there who has that as their favourite movie and he wants to understand why. With Shark Tale, I’m that someone. I love this movie, I understand the hate for it, but I will always love it.
CinemaSins is celebrating Shark Week, with the one movie without sin. I mean, Martin Scorsese, the man who said Marvel movies are "not cinema", as a puffer fish? Minus 1000 sins right there.
FINALLY! He’s doing the one I have waited for for YEARS. The movie is pretty good, ngl.
At 3:51 you hear the pellet plop into the tank even though everything is underwater *ding*
I loved this movie as a kid, probs the movie ive watched the most
Unpopular opinion: One of my favorite movies
That's why I'm glad to see it criticized. Also, you gotta do Ice Age: Continental Drift, Balto & The Smurfs 2.
Definitely Balto 🐺
When's the last time you've seen it?
Used to watch this as a kid. Dunno why I rewatched it many times. Still cant believe it was voiced by many famous celebrities.
That Herbert from Family Guy outtake at the end 😂😂
Where’s that muscly paper boy at
And if you really think about. Oscar basically revolutionized the peace between the sharks and the reef. If anything he accomplished his goal of becoming famous but in a different way instead of "slaying" sharks. Oscar through a lie became the Dr Martin Luther King of that universe Essentially. That being said he should definitely be able to live in that pent house for being the peace between sharks and the reef. Just my opinion.
7:06 idk why but this always kills me, it just so random lmao
Schaffrillas is going to LOVE this video!
This is another in a long line of Sins videos that I SWEAR they had already done. Like the movie was so… something… that I just assumed I’d seen the video already.
Always a delight to see one of these for the first time and see them live up to my expectations

I like to think that they just recycled the trash.
there is not a single thing wrong with this timeless masterpiece.
That was an amazing second set of sins. Loved it. Ideal.
Remember watching this as a kid and I actually enjoyed it. Even though I probably didn't get a single reference
It'd be fun to see EWW What Lies Beneath (2000). The 22nd anniversary just came around and I rewatched it the other day.
The only film where Ford plays a villian.
@@anubusx True.
Shark tale is basically like Chicken little you love it as a kid but as an adult you truly see how awful it actually is.
Yeah, basically the movies are only good if you place your standards on the floor.
Very true. Not to mention, both aged horribly - especially animation wise. It’s like drinking a cup of spoiled milk.
Watching Chicken little as adult honestly makes me want to cry.
This movie is like my adults and kids of all ages and was generally well-received I don't know what you're talkin about I watch this movie first when I was six years old and I am 23 years old and I find it just as entertaining if not more

Lenny disguises as a dolphin, but the shark mafia has orcas, which are _actual_ dolphins.
Why aren't they Miami
This movie frustrates me because I genuinely love Lenny as a character. He's so sweet and I just want to hug him but the rest of the movie is dull to me.
13:55 missed opportunity for "fishy business"
This movie is a guilty pleasure for me because of nostalgia. My family and I moved to Canada when I was 7, and this was not only the first movie I ever saw in theatres in Canada, but also the first movie I ever saw in English. We were friends with another family who had also emigrated from the same country as us. The son (who was about the same age as me) was having a birthday party and we went to see this movie. His mom was sitting beside me in the movie theatre. At the time I didn’t understand English very well. So every two minutes, I would turn to the mom and ask her “What did he/she say?” or “What’s going on?” This poor woman ended up having to translate/explain the entire movie for me. As bad as this movie is, I can’t bring myself to dislike it since it holds a special place in my heart.
Hey man this movie is a treasure. So many memories came about just from watching this video. Yeah it has its flaws but it is somewhat smart and surprisingly self aware. Coming from a guy in India it means something. I guess..
You know what's sad? This is actually the best of Jeremy's videos that I have ever seen, and he had a number of valid points. He also didn't make that awful college girlfriend joke in this video.
Someone else who completely misses the point of Cinemasins
I've for some reason been waiting a while for this.
Core memory unlocked: I saw this in theaters and forgot about it 😂😅
50% of this video is just complaining about inconsistencies with this movie's underwater setting and I love it.
Y'know I always thought that it was odd that Orcas would work for a shark. Orcas are higher up on the food chain than sharks in my opinion.
Orca whales are demonstrably higher on the ecological food chain than great whites. They have been known to kill great whites and eat their liver. A lot of cool study on this fact from marine biologists lately. So your opinion migrates to well studied theory.
Love these videos man, keep up the work man, KEEP SINNING !
I remember watching this movie with my cousins but everytime while I was watching it I didn't even know what it was about.
8:01 Can we not.
My question is how on earth does he know what a dog is?
Jeremy taking the piss aside, I think it’s far better for a “children’s” movie to have adult film references, because if the KIDS like the movie, they’re going to watch it OVER AND OVER and it’s always nice for a mature reference that flies over their heads present to entertain the parents.
That’s one of the things made Looney Tunes - and “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” (1971) - so great. Rewatch value when you grew up and after you had learned some stuff.
YES!!! Thank you for uploading this one!
Every time I want to rewatch the movies I like but I don’t have the patience to do it I come to this channel and simply watch the videos and this makes me feel comfortable
