That actually wasn’t a quote made by Trump according to the fact checking website Snopes. He did however, say “You see the mob takes the Fifth. If you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?” Equally damning but let’s not spread false information like the Republicans do
There is always a Trump quote that can be used perfectly against Trump.

His attorneys tried to prep him for three days. Finally they told him to just keep his mouth shut.
Imagine publicly declaring that only guilty people take the fifth, and then taking the fifth as soon as you're actually in trouble.
That last line cuts like a well prepared hot knife slicing through butter: "as for the rest of us, we just wait and see". Despite being a comedy show, you made much sense reminding everyone it's just a routine police investigation that's neither here nor there yet. Kudos @Trevor Noah. You're a gem.

This segment is well thought. FBI raid on Mar-A-Lago has been a top trending news. If The Daily Show don't talk about it, they could be perceived as left behind. But how to talk about it without being involved in speculation game? By riding on other people's speculation. Pointing out that other people MADE the speculation.

I retired in January as a Naval Inspector General with 41 years of Federal service. I was required to go to our security department and sign a document that said it I took any classified information home with me, I would be criminally prosecuted. Just sayin...

It's terrifying, that people are so easily led, and so quick to hate, and not have the slightest idea that they are.
Pleading the 5th is something a criminal needs to do when the evidence against them is so overwhelming that everything they say can actually incriminate them further, adding to their crimes.
And to prevent incrimination to other crimes, let us not forget that.
Change that to any _accused,_ because it happens. That is the reason we emphasize that right. For an _actual criminal_ like Donald, it is more essential, because every statement will expose more of his actual guilt.
You are referring to an “Alford plea”. That’s what people plea when they refuse to admit their guilt, but the evidence is overwhelming…not pleading the fifth. Pleading the fifth is the only legal way to avoid answering questions. It does not inherently mean someone has committed a crime.

Just remember folks, in a criminal trial you are protected from adverse inference if you plead the fifth, but are only sometimes protected in a civil case (it seems to depend on specific details of the case). Also, the New York case isn't a criminal one so... yeah, pleading the fifth very well may allow the judge or jury to say, "yep, guilty"

On the chance that you aren't, here's a scenario where someone might choose to plead the fifth but not be guilty of the crime. They plead the fifth because while they didn't do the crime they are charged with they WERE having a homosexual affair at the time and are more worried about that coming out than they are worried about the potential criminal conviction. There are, of course, much better ways to protect that sensitive bit of their love life, but those would require working WITH their lawyer and the person in question wants to keep it secret even from their lawyer.

Excellent point that Trevor missed. Pleading the Fifth in a civil suit is leaving open the possibility of "adverse inference"...May be used against you. Unlike pleading the Fifth in a criminal suit.
