I love what they said about the *Rolling Green Hills* of Missouri. I'm a Missourian and the couple times my family left Missouri, when I was a kid, that was the very thing I missed
    so much.

It is so mind blowing to me to think of people who lived in small rustic home built cabins and traveled rough untamed ground in wagons. then ended up living in heated houses and drove cars on paved roads. They didn't just crossover into a new century, they crossed over a critic time of change in the world.
NOTHING we have, these days can really compare to that. Smartphones, virtual reality, microchips, etc....None of it would have existed without the start of technology that began, somewhere along the line, in the hands of people not so long removed from the pioneers who first braved the untamed land.Wow.

nobody Uknow...& jets & parachutes & helicopters & bbcc cam that watches your every move, & home monitors & fingertip photos, cruize ships that holds thousands & have its own city inside a city...& daily road trips that take 40 minutes that took them 16/22 hours......
I shake my head in amazement

You are right! I’ve often wondered what Laura thought about 50s rock n roll, poodle skirts, airplanes etc.

Though I was flabbergasted when I saw that some charlatan claimed Laura Ingalls did not write the little house books, but Rose was the ghostwriter. I now see by this writing, Pioneer Girl, does not have the descriptive storytelling the Little House books had. But all in all..what does it matter? Those stories are there for all time. We in our stressfull modern day lives, can lay in bed at night, and listen to the stories of the settling of our country. All of its struggles, rights, wrongs, beliefs and hopes. I am so glad the stories are there to tell of a time long ago.

Rose was not the "ghostwriter" of the Little House books. Their letters back and forth clearly show that. Did she give her mother writing advice? Yes. But why would she need to do that if SHE (Rose) was the one actually writing the books?

Rose was her Editor. And Editor not only look it over, they basically rewrite it in order to get ready for publishing. This is not uncommon. All writers have Editor to do this. Laura didn't know how to write for children, but Rose did. If you read Rose's books, young Pioneers, the style very similar to that of the little house books. It's now a known fact that both women collaborated on the little house series. Does it matter? Not at all...they're still Laura's books.
