This chapter is so contradictory. "My mother did not have to work. She was married. My father was the provider." Then says her parents worked while she went to school, and saying her mother worked six days a week sewing. I do wonder why Laura didn't go back to teaching as she probably could have earned more money. Perhaps a position wasn't available locally?
Married women didn't teach during those times. Most of the time being a teacher was sort of a traveling job. The teacher came for about 8 weeks and stayed with each class one by one for free room and board.

Describing the wagon they used Almanzo Wilder was very ingrnious. It beat hauling the regular old covered wagon. Not as heavy for the horses to pull.
