It would be very challenging as her real life had many events we had to assume because nothing was noted down accurately. However I wish we could have one too🥺

My Dad started me on LIW when I was 5 years old. He would ask me to rub his feet after working 12 hours a day and one day, instead of giving me a nickel, he lit up and pulled from behind his back a book!! I was SO excited!! It was Little House in the Big Woods. I was hooked. Almost 50 years later, I still read everything LIW. They're my comfort books. They're my history books.
I've always said that if I could live anywhere, it would be in the Rock House on Rocky Ridge Farm. Here you are, standing right in it!! I'm delighted. Thank you so much for your time. May God bless you.

She was not dead , she was only 63 with no one to interfere with her thoughts . It was probably the best time in her life to focus on her writing .

As a child I read The Little House Books and still to this day love the television show, however coming across these videos has opened my eyes and increasing draw to an ever more fascinating character in the real life Laura Ingalls Wilder and her family, stories and contribution to 19th century history, views and personal accounts. I'm looking forward to picking up a copy of Pioneer Girls asap. Thank you for your continued efforts and these videos.

Were you shocked to learn that during the hard winter, the Ingalls had another family living with them!?

@GrowThingsToEat yep. Sure did as she mentioned this in another book that was published. The TV series has a ton of things wrong with it. Mary never married. She never had children. There was no adopted son named Albert. There was no actual "Nellie" she was created in the books by two different girls that brought the "Nellie" character to life. I could go on, but the inconveniences are far too extensive. This was one of my American History projects we were assigned during my 7th grade American History classes we were assigned to do back in my Jr high days (7th & 8th grade years 1985 to 1987). Researching about Laura and her full life was the best time of my history classes ever.

@@fandoria09it sounds like that was a fun assignment, and you seem to remember it so fondly. Schools should be teaching these things today also

It's ponounced DeSmet, not DeSmit. And, I had a copy of her "Pioneer Girl" autobiography. It had a beautiful green hard cover. In another book I had of hers, she'd refer to Almonzo as "the man of the house." Which tickled my funny bone.

Another site on CZcams, Mentor Public Library, by Librarian Meredith Tomeo -Referenence Librarian. Tells History, of the Ingalls family. Yes Rose was a Reporter. But she used poetic license about writing about her family. It was mentioned Rose was sued for writing embelished facts, about Charles Chaplin,Henry Ford. Rose had publicity rights to her mother Laura's books. It was mentioned she changed writing in her mother's books.

    Poetry: The Incomparable Christ
    Hull, Albert
There was never a prince so royal,
    So worthy of worldwide fame.
There was never a friend so loyal,
Whose love is as great as His Name.
There was never such springs of sweetness,
    Such rivers of unequalled bliss,
There was never such perfect meekness,
As dwelled in that heart of His.
What moved His heart with such kindness,
Expressed by His words of grace,
Impelling His feet in great mercy?
T’was love, the lost ones to save.
His saved ones will never fathom,
    Such depths of measureless love,
That led this blest Man to Calvary
To suffer God’s wrath from above.
There were never such oceans of sorrow
There were never such floods of grief
    As overwhelmed My lovely Saviour
In order to bring my relief.
    Let each one ponder Golgotha!
Take a look at the Cross where He died,
And wonder, and worship before Him.
    Blest Saviour, the Crucified.
This world will give Jesus all honour,
Bow the knee to His Wonderful Name,
The One they despised and rejected,
They’ll join in proclaiming His fame.
All in heaven and earth will own Jesus,
Those beneath will join in that day,
To acknowlege the Saviour in Lordship,
    For He holds universal sway.
Dear sinner, look to this Saviour,
    Who purchased salvation by blood,
    Accept of His infinite mercy,
And bask in His wonderful love.

Basically they had to get married and then their family would not give them house room.
