    I thought people were taught to not sit on rail tracks and intersections in general during their driving instruction. Seems like a few have forgotten.

      It's definitely not allowed but drivers are basically able to do anything they desire once they get their license except severe traffic violations. Because there's not a lot of enforcement and the fines aren't extreme either, people guess on the fact that they won't get caught.

    What are the two buttons on a flat panel to your left, with what looks like a lever switch as well. I notice you pressing one of the buttons (right hand one) quite often. Is it some kind of "dead man's handle" that you have to acknowledge frequently to allow the tram to keep moving?

    • @IgnoreMyChan
      @IgnoreMyChan Před 3 měsíci +6

      The buttons do from left to right:
      - The lever: Indicator. You'll hear beeps when it's active and you can see the indicators blinking in the mirror monitors
      - The left yellow button is the 'regular' horn. You see him use it for the for the ** audi at 3:20
      - The right yellow button is the 'bell' that he sounds regularly to alert traffic and pedestrians of his present.

    Hello from an American subscriber! Very interesting to see the cab controls. I have a few questions...
    1. Do you accelerate and brake with foot pedals?
    2. How do you know the speed limit for the section you are in?
    3. Are switch settings decided by a central control system through an on-board transponder?Or do you request a direction?
    Bedankt!

    • @Trammeneer
      @Trammeneer  Před 3 měsíci +8

      Thank you for your comment and support! To answer your questions:
      1. Yes! The Avenio has foot controls.
      2. The speed limit is 50 km/h everywhere, but we have limits of 15 km/h on switches and 25 km/h at platforms and intersections. The speed with which we drive through curves is dependent on our own judgement.
      3. We have a transponder on board which communicates with the switch installation as we approach it.
      Hope I have answered your questions!

    • @Trammeneer

    • @Trammeneer
      @Trammeneer  Před 3 měsíci +8

      We are taught to use the bell to make people around us aware of the presence of the tram. Nowadays, there is many drivers who show unexpected behavior or go through a red light for example. Using the bell is just a safety mechanism to warn people. Rather more than less in my opinion...

      @@Trammeneer ich muss sagen, wäre ich ein Fahrgast, würde es mich irgendwann nerven, dauerhaft diese Klingel zu hören. Sollte man das System in Berlin übernehmen, müsste man ja dauerhaft die Klingel am Alexanderplatz hören. Denn tagsüber ist da ein 2min Takt je Richtung von 4 verschiedenen Linien. Also da würden sich bei uns einige beschweren. Gerade auch was so das Kreuzen mit den Autos angeht. Das ist daher bei den Autofahrern eher egal.

Over here in Britain we couldn't lay 2 sticks flat in the road without it costing billions, take a decade to do it then be late in planning, have the Chinese build the dam tram without a clue where the tram and the type of streets or environment it's for, go now where it's needed, have the political parties argue who should take responsibility, try claiming the awards, the fight against each other when it all goes tits up because they pointed the dam sticks rhe wrong way, and finally blame everyone on benefits because there's no jobs in manufacturing in this country anymore only dam gready banks
