- While lifting the boom and curling out the bucket, all of a sudden hydraulic fluid started spraying everywhere. Why this seal failed the way it did, I don't know. Dirt could be a factor as the wiper seal was completely deteriorated, but the remainder of the rod seal that didn't come to pieces looked decent.
Anyways, in this video I replace all the seals on the cylinder.
Discovered your channel tonight and subscribed. Enjoying watching your videos. You remind me of myself at your age with your determination. I am almost 72 now and still working on my own equipment. Great video, I appreciate that you didn't add music to entertain me.
Very well.
I used a 1/2" pneumatic impact wrench on the piston bolt. Nothing moved. Then I used a 3/4" SK ratchet with a cheater bar. The 3/4" drive broke on the ratchet. I took the piston to local rental company. Mechanic used the Milwaukee 1/2" M18 High Torque Battery Impact Wrench and the bolt came out. Same Impact Wrench you have, nice. I'm getting one.
sprays 1/2 gallon hydraulic fluid demonstrating the leak
I'm subscribed, going to get a 580 e in the morning. Prob going to have to do much of the same repairs you have.
I’m loving the videos 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you for not saying anything. Now I know nearly as little as before I watched

Great videos Wayne. Extremely helpful (& entertaining). Where did you get that pin tool? I’d like to buy one. Much obliged to your wife for being a trooper filming!!! Most videographers (aka wives or other family members) are a disaster capturing the important moments, your wife is always ON POINT.
Hi Wayne, nice video. What size, about, was the bolt through the piston? Did you just use a battery impact to remove it? Thanks
I did the same thing with the stinking set screw.......
Great video mate. Now to fix mine! Do you have the torque settings for the gland and the screw in the bottom of the piston?
What torque did you use on the piston nut and the gland?
no lube over the new seals during initial slide in?
What are you taking in school Wayne,if you don't mind the inquiry? Regards from Alberta, CA.
One down, 10 more to go!!! LOL!
