I feel the need to remind everyone that the people making these threats were an extremist group and not representative of their religion as a whole. Please don’t use this scenario to justify hate towards any group. Just be cool. Thanks.
He had a dream about his adoptive brothers 6 year old daughter which he decided it meant he had to marry her… 3 years later when she was 9 he raped her by her own testimony and that of her father and other wives of his. Paedophile, rapist, slaver and warlord.
I always here the "not all" argument. The issue is 25% of that religion are that extreme. Thats the issue. No other religion has a percentage of that type of extremists even close to 1% let alone 25%.
@@tacoforce5 I don't think anyone here's denying that Christianity or catholicism have violent past. The issue is many religions left there violent pasts behind, and only live on in text now. There's also no denying that every religion has there extremists that cause harm but unfortunately it's the fact that Muslim extremists make a solid chunk not a majority but 25% is nothing to scoff at. We're in the 21st century and the muslim extremists are unfortunately still mutilating, and killing people for being anything they don't agree with including homosexuality.
While a lot of western and European have mostly I have to specify cause Sunday school still abuse children to this day. Most of them have lost there barbaric ways. Unfortunately a solid chunk is still holding is holding onto these extreme beliefs and not the real message behind Muhammed.
@@tacoforce5 Let's talk about it then. All religion is bad. Religion has become a detriment to society.
Every group has the potential to be an extremist and anyone who can't figure that out needs to learn that.
Even atheism can get to extremist levels, for example Soviet era atheist propaganda; they've even blown up churches to continue their agenda, I'm an atheist myself but even I huge problem with it, ironically all of that atheist propaganda only strengthen their religious beliefs, not weaken but as they stopped with it the idea of atheism gets more appealing to people.
When you force an ideology or belief to someone that will only give you the opposite effect of what you'd expect, people only change when they come up with their own conclusions, not when you force it.
Imagine going to a foreign country and demanding they respect your culture under the threat of violence.
Let alone being offended by South Park cartoon, it's almost as if they were looking for something to be offended by.

I'm still stuck on the fact someone spoke up about the brutal abuse of women in some muslim circles and was killed for it, that speaks volumes
Honestly, I know it is wrong but I dislike Islam a lot. Most Muslims are chill, but its not the people I dislike, it is the religion. Like honestly the crazy laws about making women cover up istg it is so wrong. The other day I saw some 4-5 year old girls and they were dressed head to toe in the blazing heat. Head coverings, long sleeves, no legs showing. Like humid sweaty heat. Those poor children, they are too young to even be sure of what religion they are, and they have to wear these uncomfortable pieces of clothing.
He didn’t tho.
He made a movie with a very islamophobic woman that shows things that are completely prohibited in Islam and tries to say that those things are justified by the Quran (they aren’t). The verses were also portrayed on naked bodies.
And it misrepresented all Muslim women as closet apostates who actually hate Islam and all Muslim men as uncaring and brutal.

According to Brandenburg v. Ohio, an avowed member of a white supremacist organization can call for the torture and murder of government officials as well as the purging of various ethnic minority groups as long as a sympathetic white crowd finds those threats to be unthreatening. This effectively overturned the precedent set by Schenck v. United States, which was that you could say anything you wanted to as long as the government agreed with it.
In reality, dividing line between protected speech and terrorist activity is somewhere in between those decisions, but it's very telling what most Americans were fine with the Brandenburg decision until Muslim extremists started using it as a shield.

You missed a HUGE PART of this story bro. During the controversy there was car found outside of the south park studios in NYC eith fumes coming out. Police were called and it was a malfunctioning weapon.. you know what kind they love to put in cars. It didnt hurt anyone and was disposed of. I will always remember this because my mother and sister were in manhattan at the time. About 5-7 blocks away smh. My mother worked in manhattan on 9-11 and had to walk to brooklyn and finally got a cab home there. There werent just threats. There were attempts... and matt and trey stood fearless in the line of fire for our rights... they have done more for our culture and nation than 99% of politicians, and were betrayed by their employers.
As a muslim, i actually applaud matt and Trey for showing Prophet Muhammad. The rule is WE can't portray him or else we would start worshipping him instead of God. (Kinda like how Christians pray to Jesus). So if a non Muslim does it, at the worst it should only be seen as a dick move which matt and Trey are more than familiar with being. If you see a portrayal of Muhammad and your first thought is "kill those who made it", who do you think is sinning more?
Ancient Muslims had plenty of art of Muhammed. Furthermore many many Muslims clearly do worship him so kinda a moot point. The fact is the Muslims don't want him protrayed in any form of parody or artistic rendering becuase they don't want people to know what he actually did, which is rape 10 year old children while being a warmongering clut leader, so it would be really easy to make him look terrible in parody like how Southpark parodies other people and groups.
When you say that, you mean that by depicting Muhammad, muslims would be elevating him to a godlike figure when he isn't, right? Asking since the Jesus analogy feels a bit off since to christians (but not to muslims) he's not just a prophet but rather an extension of god just like the father and the scripture, so they worship him because that's what god told them to do.
@@chrispy5249 they may be saying that muhammed is NOT the same as Jesus, but if they were to start depicting him then he would elevate to a similar level to Muslims as Jesus is to Christians.

Muslims I know would be fine with rational/respectful criticism of their religion. I disagree, Matt and Trey felt strongly about it because it's their art, and their hard work, comedy central just airs it.
It's unfair asking them to also put their lives in danger for someone else's work.
The problem is, comedy Central has a duty of care for all their employees, not just the ones that work with south park. They were stuck between a rock and a hard place. It's ok to have the mindset "it's a risk I'm willing to take" but all their employees would have been at risk by association.

Could also be out of respect, things having calmed down a bit they felt they had made their point of not bowing to threats but fine with doing it on their own terms. Third option could be for the sake of the safety of their families and colleagues.
Personally I think they might as well. They stood their ground when the threats were flying, they made their point. Removing it for the safety of others who could be targeted and as a sign of respect and maybe sending that message, that they can be flexible if they're not cornered by threats.
I dunno, while I firmly think anyone has the right to draw those pictures, doing so knowing it is deeply upsetting to hundreds of millions of people, a small number of which are capable of violence, is just.. Why..
I remember watching 200 on cable back in the day and being so hyped for 201. I was a huge fan at the time and had seen every single episode. I missed the initial broadcast of 201, but wasn't much bothered, as they released the episodes online fairly quickly after.
It never came. I genuinely fell off with South Park because I was so disappointed with being unable to see 201. I've only gotten back into it this year, almost 12 years later.
I STILL have never seen 201.
This was the climax of South Park lol one of the greatest ever! Clever wit on this video. Great job!
I'm so glad you informed me about the harm caused by piracy. I had only ever seen 200 and 201 when they were broadcast originally almost entirely censored, I am outraged that I am able to watch them in their true form now. Horrible!
There are legitimately good arguments to be made for piracy in some cases.
@@trajectoryunown Agreed. I've seen a couple creators of indie games that got banned in Germany outright say "Just pirate it."
@@YOUTY209 notch also told someone to pirate minecraft aswell
@@trajectoryunown Yeah, like how Nintendo is ending the use of all of their older consoles, shutting the Nintendo store down disallowing you from playing digital only games, and requiring physical media which is both marked up in price now, and could fail at any minute unless you have a brand new copy. Pirating is the only way of playing certain games once the store closes, and eventually all Nintendo games for all of their previous consoles.
@@-Coded I still don't understand why they don't remaster their games, or have some sort of way to buy them still.
It's kind of bullshit.
I 100% believe that Cartoon Wars is the greatest episode in South Park history. Every single thing about it is absolutely brilliant and completely accurate and it took until watching while super high to realize that. The whole message being "Either all of it is okay, or none of it is okay." and anti-censorship, only for the episode itself to get censored is such poetic irony. It's so sad yet so funny and accurate. I love it.
As far as I'm concerned there are two types of people. People who agree with this and assholes.
Bigger longer and uncut hit me like a stack of bricks when I recently watched it again. I know their commentary is nothing new, but it's freaking me out how much of it is being prophetic it's turning out. Did not expect to have an existential crisis after watching it, but maybe I'm just being a fag about it lol
@@GrantedBunion Wait until you realize Trey and Matt are Libertarians and Libertarian philosophers like Sowell, Rothbard, Mises, and Friedman were calling it even before they did. It's enough to drive you nuts.

the censorship bit at the end was low hanging fruit, but god damn it got me
At Casa Bonita last week Matt and Trey were filming a commercial for the grand re-opening. The question is asked "When will Casa Bonita reopen?" My friend yelled out "Passover!" Matt and Trey busted out laughing and they had to start the take over again. The director of the commercial was not amused.
The thing about Comedy Central is that they were super honest about why it was censored. They were just afraid of getting blown up.

I don’t know if anyone pointed this out but I love how Scott’s chili con carnival looks like jokers theme park from Batman: the killing joke. Even down to cartman on a ride with videos of Scott playing is like the joker taunting commissioner Gordon. Scott’s throne is even like the one the joker has in that book. Really cool stuff
I guess the creators made fun of the killing joke and just did it better than the original story, which results in the show to one up the comic story.
