Over the past week, so many of you have expressed how much Angela’s story in my new book, Love Life, touched you deeply (in the chapter titled “Have Hard Conversations”). So this week I thought I’d share the actual interview with her from my Live Retreat.
I’ve found that one of the biggest confidence-killers in dating happens when we dwell on the reasons why someone may not be attracted to us. Our looks, our age, our past, even the fact that we have kids-the fear of rejection for who we are can stop us before we get started.
Angela’s story is one of the most impactful I’ve heard on confidence and insecurity, and I think you’ll love hearing it in her own words.

We need to find happiness and peace within first, no matter how difficult. Can't count on others to complete us.
Said singles.....I didn't find mine at my best. He met me at my worst and was with me the whole time. My sister is happy but not happy either. She needs a husband. Everyone is married and want married friends not single ones. And would be nice to double date with her and her husband. Being a 3rd wheel is terrible.

About 8 years ago, at 47, after a 25 year marriage, I found Matthew on CZcams. I learned so much about myself, about life and one thing stuck with me and loved, is his love and respect for his mom and that he is always looking out for us women, for our wellbeing. This really resonated with me. I am a disabled woman who has cerebral palsy and I have never been in a relationship. I want to find somebody who loves me for me and wants to know about my life and also considers me more than a friend but it is hard because of all the physical baggage I come with

I just met mi girlfriend in her bad health condition in the stroke ICU,we have 2 weeks connecting together and I had that deep feeling inside of me that she's the one meant for me. Her emotional response gives all signs that she's soulfully filled and happy when she's with me and mi biggest wish now is just to see her get to respond back physically to express her feelings as she's on stroke

It is because Angela and her story are so unusual that she's in this video. This is out of the ordinary, not the norm. Happiness is by no means guaranteed, no matter how hard you try.

No, there are different types of men. Some can be loyal, trustworthy, respectful, giving, and considerate. Never tolerate disrespect or abuse from anyone.

I had gone through such a bad break up 8 months ago , and struggled for 8 months with the emotional struggles after Watching this, I have so much hope that I can start to see myself as worthy again and learn from all of this Thank you so much Matthew and Angela GOD Bless you two 🙏

I've been single most of my life. It's hard sometimes, but even if we meet someone we may be alone at some point again (when one passes away, or for other reason). Dont get me wrong, it is hard when you do meet someone and it doesn work. It's just, acceptance is the only way to at least realise that you can be ok being on your own despite that. Im in early 40s.

Took part in your 3 hour Live session yesterday. Shifting my perspective on finding love thanks to Matthew.
I have started to accept that I am likely one of those people who remain single for life. I unfortunately gave my entire heart to someone years ago and never got it back. Unrequited love for almost 2 whole decades followed. I cannot seem to overcome it. I tried other relationships and they never became serious or lasted longer than a year (probably all my fault).

I wholeheartedly agree with the message that one’s worth doesn’t depend on what someone else’s tastes are. But, as Matthew himself says, love isn’t enough to sustain an intimate relationship. You can be a wonderful, loving, kind person, but that does not mean you are going to be physically attractive to any of the single people you encounter. And sexual attraction is an essential component to most romantic relationships.
There are many happy, loving, wonderful, confident people who love themselves and who know they are loved platonically by many others, but don’t experience romantic interest or sexual attraction from others, even when they put themselves out there.
