The crew who created the sets deserved an award. In fallout the wasteland is the true main character and they nailed it.
I think the 'bookending' of the first episode by using Cooper Howard's character (this is where we were, and this is where we are now) is a kind of a genius move. It truly does illustrate to all those not familiar with the Fallout universe that things were good and got really, REALLY bad
We knew nothing of the setting, having never played the computer game. It was funny, dark and weird. The Ghoul's backstory kept me watching. We will watch season two.
I've played a few of them, and they worked in some many things from power ups to old story cues. There's a lot jammed in there, and even a big fan of the series will miss things on a first watch.
Kyle MacLachlan being in the show was such a joyous surprise. I had a fun time watching it while my mom was visiting. I got to explain vidya games stuff and she talked about 50's aesthetic and memories.
The doctor isn’t trying to get to the Enclave, that’s where we see him fleeing from in episode two and both the BOS and the guys who dug up The Ghoul said he was an Enclave defector in episode one.
Regarding the airship, promotional material called it the Caswennan but it says Prydwen on it
Yup, have a chrush on Lucy. :)
The art direction of the show is spectacular. I dont know if Bethesda had a hand in it or the show runners were themselves very keen on keep everything looking right but damn did they do a good job. Even if the show had ended up being "eh" at least the look was on point.
Bethesda worked close with them on it, though I think the production company weren't completely hamstringed by them. I know that Todd Howard said they asked them to not do something in the story because they were thinking of doing it in the next game.
ive been addicted to playing fallout 4 again after watching the series lmao. also makes me want to dig out my Wasteland Warefare stuff and make some ruined buildings for it and give it a shot again.
I was so happy after a few minutes of watching the first episode that they'd nailed the look and feel from the games I'd played, and they go on to maintain it throughout. We ended up watching it over 4 nights and loved it, despite my wife having no exposure to the games or any knowledge of the setting beforehand. Looking forward to Season 2.
Not a spoiler as it was covered in the episodes you watched; the Scientist isn't from Vault Tech, he's a defecting Enclave Scientist. That was an Enclave facility. You can also see in one of the scenes that there's a giant green hand poking out from under a sheet of a gurney being wheeled away when the scientist walks past the guards.
Oh, I missed the giant hand. I'll have to rewatch the whole shoe now!
Talking about Amazon trying to attract new fans, they did it with The Legend of Vox Machina as well.
18:22 That was Patty the Daytime Hooker from My Name is Earl.
Oh, and by the way, couldn't agree more about Modiphius and the release of Fallout Factions (Mid July, apparently)
All plastic sounds great! They also have a modular X-01 power armor coming out in plastic too!
Watched the whole series with my wife. I'm a long time fan from 1 & 2 and wife has never touched them aside from seeing me playing them occasionally and she loved the show. Even to the point she was asking me about how the games play.
Ive never played Fallout, thought the show was amazing. I recognize all the iconic imagery like the power armor and blue vault suits, was awesome to see the story with it all. They hit the tone perfectly, was a blast to watch
The mention of vault 33 being one of the rare 'safe' vaults (and presumably 32 until it got overrun) with no experiments going on got me thinking. I'm not so sure that's the case. First you have two vaults side by side with a connection which is unusual. Also both their populations are unviable without mixing with the other vault. Just too small a gene pool. But at the same time, both vaults are locked down from each other unless, again presumably, when a marriage needs to take place (seeing as how 32 was over run but 33 had no idea we can presume it was super strict on communication restrictions). Both look like mirrors of the other as well, from what I saw. So I think that's the experiment. A pressure is put on both societies with an effective wall between and only allowing for contact in the most specific of terms. It's almost a north/south Korea things going but the difference is that in this case both sides also rely on the other for survival.
I think the three main characters represent the three alignments. The Ghoul is evil; he's completely out for himself and will do anything and everything to get his way - nothing is off limits. Lucy is good; she's got a moral code and refuses to break it, even if it means that she suffers significant setbacks to her own goals. Maximus is neutral; he shows genuine care for others, and I think he generally tries to do right by them, but he's open to morally grey solutions.
Also no spoilers, but Norm was easily my favourite character in the show.
The need for power armour training was only added in Fallout 3 to stop you using it too early. It wasn’t in 1 or 2.
It’s not that Nate was a soldier, after all there’s plenty of Raiders wearing power armour too
Well, no worries about you posting this early to spoil the show for Jay 😅
He’s seen it all now lol
@@GuerrillaMiniatureGames oh, I know. I saw the live stream you did for episodes 3-4 like, 2 weeks ago, when he said he'd seen all of it.
Shogun next!
I would argue Blue Eye Samurai next!
I've seen people whining about plot holes in Fallout and it's like watching a sports game and complaining about the dialogue.
They got a ton of the backround wrong. The characters are some of the most unlikeable characters I've seen a story focus on.
