Great game guys. I think that Teutonic knight had a few too many shotgun blasts when he charged the Shang ji but I could be missing something. Greg’s breathing reminded me of diving. Very relaxing. Love the infinity Ash!

I remember playing City of Thieves over and over when I was in school, though I don't think I ever beat it. I saw the whole collection at our biggest board game store here in town, but I was really disappointed with the new art in them. I might just try to see if I can find a few older editions with the original art. Was it only the first book they did in hardcover in 2007 or was it the whole range?

Unrelated note, I was building the new Darkoath Wilderfiend while watching this... or rather, I built like a third of it. I swear GW is going out of their way to carve these models up into as many crazy jigsaw parts as possible.

Having played a huge amount of 2nd edition space marine in my youth, just got into Legions Imperialis. Somewhat against my better judgement, as i was very concerned about it being properly supported going forwards, but my son wanted it. We played a demo in our local GW store which was great and we've now played our first game at home. It is much better at passing the immersion test than most other GW games with much less cause to dive into the rulebook, and is nice and quick to play. As you say, really just an extension of the original game. Big downside is you cannot plug and play out of the boxset as it has no terrain. And the other annoyance is delivering rules for new units through campaign books. I thought we were done with that nonsense GW! Great overview!

Just can’t enjoy watching this as you’re getting so many rules wrong - couldn’t watch past 11:48 into the video - you guys seriously need to have read rulebook beforehand and have it to hand during the game

Honestly this video makes me giggle in hindsight. It's been four months since this video released and while I have serious doubts about the old world getting to the same place as Warhammer fantasy, it's definitely become a fan favorite in a few local game shops in my area. Like the guest in this video said there wasn't much initial incentive for stores to carry the old world, most had two boxes per faction plus the core book. But now there is a much larger demand for the game in my area, with young new players being the majority. So now I'm seeing less popular stores with product gaining new customers, while tried and true local game shops that chose to ignore the game seem to be throwing up their hands and saying the game is a failure without doing much research with their customers. Like Ash said, there's something about fantasy list building and organization that draws in gamers like a moth to a flame.

I’m so used to some form of alternating activation in skirmish games I had forgotten how much that skews model count. Cool too see a small count elite start be an option even if it’s still a challenge and risk.

If someone wanted to get into wargaming today I’d direct them towards legion. $120 2 player starter set with everything you need to get started. You can pretty easily do a 500 point skirmish game with the forces in the box which is a great sampling as you’re closing the gap to full armies. Plus the rules are easy and it’s Star Wars so next to 40k it’s easy to find players for. It’s cheap, easy to dive into and find players for. Plus they have one of the best list builders in the industry I’ve only demoed ASOIAF but it seems pretty similar, with the exception of player count. The fact that you can take the plastic wrap off and set it up on the board in less than 5 minutes is a huge on ramp for new players. You’re getting them that “first hit” without any of the steps where new players might get lost like the building and painting part of the hobby. Get them a game ASAP and then let them explore the other avenues later as they dive in

On behalf of the college age crowd, skipped this year because of life and money but the last 2 years I’ve left class on Wednesday/thursday afternoon and drove a couple hours out for adepticon. Don’t know how many people this represents but definitely met a few groups in their 20s. The guys who are doing mordheim and the grim dark stuff stand out, a bunch of guys in their late 20s pushing their art and the style movement. Had a great chat with them, everyone was super kind and passionate. Had the vibe of a punk show/merch table

Love the video. Just the rule errors are hard to look at. Crit on a 4 and then still role armor after. No fear check for magister and the beastman charging the vampire. Vampire rolling 2 dice for attacks with off-hand even though he has 2A on the profile to begin with... High quality production as always but I feel the game is a bit rushed and the rules suffered

Catalyst is such a weird place. As a Shadowrun and battletech fan I just... I dunno man. I'm constantly going back and forth on my feelings for them

Yay, Mordheim! Those recovery rolls were not what I expected. With just four models, losing any of them could be catastrophic. Maybe playing with a super risky start is the way to go :D

"very much AoS" thisis why i no onger love 40k. The beauty of the 2 games was how vastly different they were but had a simialr feel. Now it's jus Aos with different weapons and models.
