This edition so far is the most beautiful one containing Rackham's illustrations. Sadly it doesn't feature all stories meaning some of his illustrations are not in this book. It's really hard to find a good edition with his illustrations. But at least this one is better than the blue Barnes and Noble edition.

The Barnes and Nobles edition seems a lot bigger and seems to contain more? What's wrong with it other than the dramatic girl on the cover lol. Kinda wish they didn't have that dumb plate glued to the cover and a more appropriate design like their 1001 nights.
I have the Barnes and nobles one and the book is fine. It is however a bit too girly which makes little sense considering the contents. Ik don't think the person that made the cover read the book. The Canterbury collections has a cool cover that makes it seem more like a scary book. Not perfect but better. But that one has no illustrations

I have the Barnes and nobles leather bound edition has the same illustrations. Is a lot bigger as a book
Wish I got Arabian nights from Barnes and nobles as well. Probably theumir most beautiful and best illustrated book. Have the Canterbury version which is fine but hasn't got any illustrations and the cover is t near as elaborate
Once a while I will pick up Grimm's, Arabian nights or Tales Norse mythology etc and real one or a few of the stories. The stories are hilarious. Last read the little peasant in the end he convinces his entire to off themselves so he can steal all their stuff and be rich

We used to have this book when I was young but, I remember a purple cover with a small picture of a witch

Funny when you got to The Robber Bridegroom, that was my favourite fairy tale as a young child!

    Wow, this is wonderful!

So the illustrations align with the story in this edition? That’s great! My biggest pet peeve is a misplaced illustration.
I believe the Barnes and noble and folio editions are both facsimiles, so they do not have aligned illustrations, too bad.

Thank you for this. I was in search of good version of Grimm's for my children and this is perfect. I did not grow up reading Grimms. Do you have a recommendation of age group? I hear Grimms stories are dark. I am new to your channel. Can you do quick tour of your son's room and your library (If you haven't already)? We have huge collection of books and arranging them in certain manner is always a problem. Thank you again for your wonderful service!!

I think Andrew Lang's re-tellings are probably more palatable to a young audience without being childish. These can be quite dry.

Are these books from the originals meaning they have not change their words or modernize them?

They are 19th century English translations from the German originals.

If you're not familiar with Otfried Preussler's novel Krabat, I recommend it, although which English edition to choose I couldn't say as mine is in Welsh. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krabat_(novel)
