- Please join me in this tour of @watkinsbooks , London's biggest Esoteric and Occult book shop, that happens to be my favourite place in the world. I had the privilege of visiting before opening on Tuesday 14th May in order to shoot this video for you. I hope you like it!
The blurred out shelf is stacked with a very sought-after volume that is reserved only for in-person visitors to the London store on Cecil Court. I didn't want you to get too envious!
Visit Watkins web-store at: www.watkinsbooks.com/ where you can find many of the books you see in this video and the details to get in contact with the store for any books you see that don't have an entry.

Nice to see that bookshops still exists, I miss them.
Thank you Dennis for transporting us all to this magickal place. Felt like I walked through myself. 👍
It took me 2 hours to finish with the pauses 😅
I'll never forget the first time I went down those stairs. There were two staff members discussing some interesting occult topic and I thought "can they tell how ignorant I am and make fun of me?" It was almost 10 years ago.
I was completely dazzled, overwhelmed, astonished, mystified. And I was feeling so exposed. Now when I go back I know I will feel much more at home. Back then I ended up going home with 5 Tarot decks and a few art books. I wish I could be at Watkins more often. One of my most favourite places on the planet.
I still struggle with this difficult feeling of Fear of Missing out, not having enough money and time for all the books. And it comes always along with a happy excitement. But with time I manage to navigate this, the more I go deeper in certain topics.
Thank you so much Denis! This was a true delight! 🩷
Are you seriously trying to bankrupt me.... I've already spent this month's money on books! I loved the look around the shop, it's nice to see I'm not alone in my addiction. What a wonderful afternoon I could spend. Thank you for showing us.
I did the same..probably put one of my kidneys on ebay
I started on the soft stuff. A bit of Sci Fi here, a bit of Horror there. Then when I was 15 somebody slipped me a bit of Dostoevsky. When you're young you think you're invincible. "It won't happen to me" I said, "I can handle it"
Now it's Bibliophiles Anonymous twice a week, and I still can't walk past a W H Smith's
It's like a scary film. You sort through them, take some away even, but they come back.....in legion.
It's a beautiful, wonderful, affliction to have. But you'll never have any actual cash.
my favorite bookstore in this reality frame, cheers & all the best
This is my favourite shop on the planet. I go in every single time I'm in London. They host really cool events too.
teary-eyed watching this, because i spotted some magickal gems. thank you for sharing~! it has undoubtedly been on my to-visit list. ✧ i adore their floor design of djehuty!!
I've been there, and was so overwhelmed that I came out of the shop with nothing, my head exploded.
Seeing our books in the store was a dream come true! And spending time with you a check-box checked moment as well! 🙏🏻♥️
It was so nice to finally spend some time with you in person, Gabriel! 😄 Hope you got home safely! 🙌
@@FoolishFishBooks I did, extremely jet-lagged at the moment but otherwise quite happy indeed! Say Hi to the family for me 🙏🏻
@@gmccaughry get some good rest, it'll no doubt take some time to digest it all!
Waahhhh!! So awesome! Every new town I go to I always find their Occult bookshop. This is the mother tho! Definitely a bucket list place to visit! London in general is!
I’m so envious 😂😅😊 I would have ❤LOVED❤ to have visited such a wealth of knowledge Dennis X 📚
Someday, I'll make a pilgrimage back to England... and Watkins Books will be among my top priorities.
I never fail to leave that shop with way more books than I intended to buy. Love Watkins ✨👌🏼✨
I'm desperate to visit Watkins! Your video tours of it make me feel delight and deep, deep envy in equal measure 😅
Thank you very much for taking me on a tour in this marvelous bookstore. 😊
If I ever get to London I would set aside an entire day (and an extra suitcase) to visit Watkins 🤩 I hope they filmed the talk you gave
During the upstairs walkthrough I was thinking, "Yeah. I have a pretty decent library." And then you took us downstairs... P.S. This afternoon I read about halfway through "A Path to the Grail." (Holythorn Press) It is very intriguing! ❤
Hahaha! Yeah, it's immense! Looking forward to digging into Fortune's work once again. It's been a while!
So cool to see my book on the shelf at Watkins!! thankyou for doing this tour, nice to see so many friends being represented as well
Oh wow! Thanks for this video, Denis! I loved the tour of Watkins Books. To bad that I’m poor. So many books I could add to my library.
Amazing books and a wide variety. Great shop.
Muchas gracias for a new tour to Watkins. 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for the tour! I am completely overwhelmed even vicariously. I can only imagine how bonkers I would go in person.
Very humble of you to not mention the several copies of your book that can be seen several times throughout the video in different parts of the shop..
Haha! It was absolutely amazing to see them all stacked like that 😄🤩
Thanks for sharing! I was able to spot both of mine on the shelves (accidently, while looking at other books).
WoW...!!! Thank You Denis, for this "Magical" Bookshop tour...!
Marvellous thank you. Made a loooong mental wish list 😆
What an amazing place. 👏
What an impressive bookshop.
If I lived close to this book store, I would be there every day!!! Thank you for the little look at such a beautiful store !!!
😄❤️ you and me both! 🤩
@@FoolishFishBooks 😁😊📖
Wow, awesome, I could spend days in there! Thank you Fish! 🙏🏻
OMG thank you!!
That place is great! Thanks for the tour. Lots of things I want to read there. You can add my recommendation of Braiding Sweetgrass!
Awesome!
BRAIDING SWEETGRASS IS BRILLIANT, Denis!!! I’d also suggest you check out The Spell of the Sensuous by David Abram. Two amazing works well worth your time- they are amongst my all-time favorites!!
Yes! I've been recommended Spell of the Sensuous too by a good Australian friend 😄🙏
😮Watkins?! Foolish Fish?! Now that's my kind of video!
Oh are you back home for a bit? How lovely for you 😊 absolutely beautiful bookstore, I am overcome with envy at some of those titles! Imagine being able to just walk into a bookstore and picking up something like Codex Ad Limia or something. Truly special, thank goodness for Miskatonik books for those of us without acces to such a place. Enjoy your time in England Denis!
Thank you! Back home now but it was wonderful! 😄
Thank you for the grand tour. Hopefully I will go back to London someday. I would be making a bee line to the tarot section.
What an amazing bookstore!
visiting London for the first time in September (seeing Zeal and Ardor live \m/) and i'm definitely gonna be visiting a few stores like this to pick up souvenirs - thanks for the heads up of the place and what it looks like :D
Have a great time! 🎉
Awesome! ❤
It's like going into a Candy store.
My favourite bookstore in London. I spend hours on it.
Thank you so much. There was a similarly vast bookstore in NYC (famous but I've forgotten the name) run by a publisher there, since moved to New England, and I spent the day there. I'll never forget. Seems that Watkins is even more comprehensive. What a place, and what a tour!
Watkins Bookshop is a treasure. Look at those Tartarus Press editions @ 4.40
To much fun!
I was thrilled to finally go to Watkins (and Atlantis & Treadwells) my last visit to London and was not disappointed. Not only a great bookstore (my people! :-) but such helpful staff. They did not have something I wanted and even recommended another store! (I think it was the manager). I was happy to spend money there on other goodies. Can you say Tarot decks?! I knew that you could:-)
Tremendous video! Thank you so much for sharing. I love the rug they have there!
Yes! Isn't it amazing! 😄
Thanks very much ❤🎉😊
YES, Marlene Seven Bremner's alchemy books are great, lots of information.
I wish there was a store like this in the US. The closest I get is a couple of shops in Salem, MA but they're Wicca-focused for the most part.
Nightside of Eden!!?! That's my unicorn
I was just there in June. That copy of Geosophia Volume II is now on my shelf. I really wish I could frequent Watkin's more often.
Ah! Great choice 🤩
@@FoolishFishBooks Interestingly I also purchased 'Introduction into Hermetics'......I think they had several copies. Realized you mentioned this upon rewatching the video
that's a great place. I've gone there a few times!
I wish we had stores like this in the Bay Area. Closest thing I can find is places that sell candles and "ritual" supplies etc. Spell components etc but very minimal actual books.
cool👍
I saw today that tarot creator M.M Meleen has a new deck coming soon.
I got that Stranger Things tarot deck for my girlfriend!
Omg I’m so happy 😀
I haven’t pressed play ▶️ so fast in my life! ❤
What a shame there aren't neither bookshops nor publications in this range of quality in german(y) any more. The former, long gone 'Land der Dichter und Denker' would starve any contemporary native authors and publishers on the subject who would not deliver fluffy superficial entertainment stuff.
Lamento of an old girl 😅 missing the times when books on magic were actually studied and appreciated for the content, not the looks😅
That's my last name!!! That's a sign for sure.
Is The Atlantis still open in London? I remember that had a huge basement area!
Yes it is. In Museum St.
Wow, really impressive alongside with your Expertise... Is one Lifetime enough for all this Material to Work ones through? Ok kidding I highly doubt that for a realistic Scenario...
I guess Here in Germany such bookshop would be closed by the catholic church immediately. They hate it when 'ordinary' people get Into the occult, I can Tell you that. 🙄😏
26:44 Rituale Corvorum is from the same publisher as that edition of the Holy Books but it contains rituals rather than scripture.
Thank you for the detail! 🙏
Was there a section on voodoo?
Saw a few books I already own on the subject but no dedicated section as such.
Yes, though with so many sections I probably didn't linger enough. Not an entire case, but a section for sure.
Are you making a video of all the books you bought there?
You bet! 😄 Releasing to members next week and general public the week after
@@FoolishFishBooks nice, this is going to be hype! 🤩
So, what all did you pick up?
I'll have a haul video for you soon 😉
Been to Treadwells yet? It’s not far from there
Yes! Didn't manage to visit this year, but I also love Treadwell's!
I’ve always wondered about an apocryphal story about Watkins and Crowley who allegedly caused all the books to vanish and reappear by magick?.., anyone know the origin of this story?… nice book store …I used to visit Weisers in Manhattan before they closed
Where is this book store
Cecil Court in London
how the hell you enter watkins and not break your bank account
the locks like a shop taking directly out of harry potter
I really like occult esthetics and the history of magic even tho it's all made up.
That's a very dangerous store. You could spent all your money in there.
Yup. All of it. Very fast 😂
omg, am glad not to live in London, otherwise all my income will be lost 😆
Right! VERY easily done 😂
Do they still brazenly display a whole heap of David Icke books? There’s so many interesting titles I’d consider from Watkins, but I’m not supporting any business that promotes such hateful trash.
