  • April 5, 2024 marks 30 years since the tragic death of Nirvana's Kurt Cobain. Known as "The Voice of a Generation," he was instrumental pioneer of the grunge movement, but his influence and impact goes far beyond any one era and any singular generation. Here, we reflect on the legend's legacy and highlight his influence with clips of several musicians from inside and outside of the rock world.

The moment the word was out , two young punk girls that were working behind the counter , broke out into tears and hugged each other while the guys , including me just seem to freeze in time. Sadness wasn’t the word to describe my feelings and anger wasn’t close enough either. After losing my mother in 93 right after my 13th birthday, to losing my only hero ,ever, just months after, ripped my life apart. I learned very early in life, nothing is promised to you and the world owes you nothing.

      @marcdellorusso180 Před měsícem +23

      @selfan2005 Před měsícem +10

      Kurt may have wanted to be successful, but that depends on what your perception of "success" truly is. I think that if Nevermind sold 50,000, the amount that the experts believed it would sell, he would have been happy. He wanted to be successful in the alternative world, not this cultural icon. The problem was he had no idea just how much things were going to change, or how big his role would be in changing it. He didn't want all the trappings that came with being an icon, having your life endlessly dissected by tabloids and the media. It was the machine that killed him, kind of like what happened with Michael Jackson.

      I always felt that while Dimebag’s loss was tragic and sad, the impact was larger on musicians, guitarists in particular. Cuz he wasn’t so much a personality as he was an astounding guitar player and leader of sorts in the field. His band itself was the movement of the time. No single piece, but a sum of three parts. That’s why, IMO, so many were against this “reunion”.
      But please don’t get me wrong, he was a stellar guitar player. A “god” Some might say. Stop there or I’ll ruin any point I might have been making haha, and just start pissing people off. And I’m not really a shit stirrer.

I had a copy but my home flooded in Nov 2020 and I sadly lost alot of my music collection. But it was definitely great if you want inside the mind of the man.

      I enjoyed reading his final actions and movement of what he was doing that only Kurt would know.
      Or how good Courtney looks in the ambulance despite just waking up in perfect make up at 4am..5am or 6am.
      Check out the P.I. hired Courtney Love named Tom Grant or CZcamsr AmericanSpyFox.
      It isn't a tin foil hat of group of fans.
      His uncle Gary, his paternal grandfather, two retired SPD officers have stepped forward named Norm Stamper and Neil Low, friends of both Kurt and Courtney, former nannies/employees, and according Tom Grant the ex-mother-in-law of Frances Cobain's Mary Silva said that Wendy told her "They killed my baby.".

A vital stepping stone to human evolution. 30 years ago, you showed us that it’s okay to be vulnerable, weak and unsure at times. Born in April 91' so i was far too young to know what was going on during that time. I discovered Kurt & Nirvana after he had passed as a young kid, and i vaguely remember hearing a song off Nevermind (Teen Spirit or Come as You Are.. i really can't remember) But i remember feeling something i hadn't felt before hearing music.I was raised by a single mom, so all I recall hearing was country and the Christian radio station. So hearing something like that from a friend i had made in school was mind-blowing. I just remember thinking, "I like this. This is me. "
