If a brand made a watch with the intentions of putting diamonds as part of the aesthetic then yes,the designer did what they wanted to do with the watches. Also if the piece of jewelry is originally made with colored diamonds like pink or red then the value is increased because colored diamonds are much more rare than regular clear diamonds

      This seems kind of self-evident... Most people wearing bomber jackets are not piloting a fighter jet; most people wearing button-down-collar shirts are not playing a sport with them. This applies to most aspects of fashion and style.

      @@williamwoods477 The de ville line of which the tresor is a sub line of does have automatic variants however the tresor line of watches themselves are only manual wind or quartz. They do not make an automatic tresor as it is meant to be a slim dress watch and omegas newer automatic movements are far too thick to fit in a sub 11mm watch.

      shay campbell Grand Seikos start at around $3,500 and go up to $30,000+. I don’t think that’s really a common man watch that’s in the same vein as Casio, regular Seiko, or other sub $500 watches that the person was talking about.

      He doesn’t know nearly as much as make out he does. The story about IWC’s Portugieser for example, is only half accurate. The Portuguese sailors actually *asked* IWC for precise chronometer watches in order to orient themselves at sea. Source: I went to the IWC manufacture.

    He is not "critiquing" anything, just mentioning what they have. A critique would be saying that that huge Richard Mille looks absolutely ridiculous on Pharrell's 5-year-old-girl's wrist. Or that Bradley Cooper wearing a pilot's watch with a tux is something one shouldn't really do according to etiquette.

    Really wish he critiqued the watches ON the celebrities - most were oversized, did not match the outfit, or the occasion, and it seemed some celebrities just went for a combination of what was most expense/exclusive with no thought to the design, movement, size, etc...

    Great video. Guy knows what he's talking about. I think he should have mentioned when talking about Sly the Panerai. Panerai what in the 90s on the bottom. Sly was visiting Italy to promote Tunnel movie. He saw the store during a walk ale bought couple of them for him and his friends. He made Panerai well known.

      Dog The Patek Nautilus steel version is about $50k, but you can’t really get it. Second hand costs $80-150k. The IWC Big Pilot is about $15k, the Omega Aqua Terra and De Ville are about $5k. That Richard Mille, well, costs about $1M....

    I know how to use the slide rule bezel, but I'm not a pilot. I have a Seiko Flightmaster and I told myself I could only have it if I could operate the slide rule. It looks way more difficult than it actually is, and if you paid attention in school that helps as well.

      - The Omega DeVille Tresor is an automatic. That is wrong, current generation Omega DeVille Tresor are manual wind
      - Chronometer rating is the highest accuracy standard in Switzerland. Rolex has Superlative Chronometers, Omega has Master Chronometers, Jaeger-LeCoultre has the 1000 Hour Control. All of them Swiss, all of them with higher accuracy standards than a chronometer.

      Chris Taylor that's not every watch collector, sure some will flex their really expensive time pieces just to flex. But a lot of people flexing Rolex's probably don't then know anything about horology or the history, function, and movement in their watches.
      I don't have any really expensive watches, I mostly just wear my Tissot. But I love wearing my g-shock dw5600 which I bought for like $60. Honestly, don't even bother with any ones opinions. There's always someone with more money and a better watch. Timex is a good brand. Be proud of whatever watch makes you happy and works for you. They are tools after all and serve a purpose.
