I bought a watch to represent the biggest achievement of my life.
I bought a Citizen Eco Drive Chronograph to reward myself for beating a 20 year drug addiction. It wasn't a particularly expensive watch, ÂŁ450, but to me it was a significant chunk of money.
The main reason was to remind me that during my addiction I would have pawned it to feed my habit.
If I ever felt the urge to go back I look at my wrist and think that in the past I would have spent that ÂŁ450 in 1 day and wasted it on drugs.
That watch is my promise to myself to never go back, to never again miss out on so much and let life pass me by.

5:50 The watch Nico asked about is the Chris Aire 5 Time Zone. It competed w/ Jacob & Co in early 2000s. Most celebs had one ie Jay-Z, LeBron James, 50 Cent etc. Their ads featured Muhammad Ali. It was my grail watch in 2003, when I was 13. It now sits in my collection alongside the world's most complicated and historically significant Hublot timepieces

Nico is 100% right. Hodinkee just isnât the same. If Ben did this properly - all the watches would be laid out and he would be explaining the provenance. Ben has given up and Nick Merino needs to move on. Lost all the best team there. James is last man standing.

Lol, well after that initial purchase they should be fairly easy to obtain. I donât own one YET, but I was offered a Sub 124060 from my AD only a couple of months after I purchased an Omega SMP Diver 300m from them. I just couldnât make the leap to it only a couple of months after purchasing one.
Letâs be real, most of us buy on the grey market exclusively.

Your amusing and amused approach to a context with such a long and deep history, with such complicated technical aspects, reserved, in reality, only to those who can actually afford luxury goods, made me want to go deeper and study again. Iâve just started my âlow budgetâ collection (one day I hope to be able to transform it into a high end collection) which, net of an Eberhard Extra-Fort from the 50s (a family legacy), currently consists of a Seiko SNKE01J1. I know itâs not much but I trust in your approval đ. Anyway, thanks again, because you gave me back a passion.

Love this review. I hope Hodinkee watches this video and understands that they need to improve their interview style. I watch them because they are Hodinkee and they have access to people and watches that most people do not have access to in real life. I do not watch them because they create great videos.

15:10 I could not agree more, when a watch is attached to a friend or family member, especially when they have passed away. It reminds you of them every time you look at it. My grandfather's Seiko 62mas does exactly that.

it seems more of a personal opinion. I think he just likes AP more, plus omega is more entry level in luxury watches. When your kevin hearts level, your probably more likly to wear an $80,000 watch instead of a $7,000 watch.

IDK, his seeming hate towards Omega is off putting. But at the same time Omega's advertising is also irksome. paying famous people that couldn't give a crap about watches to be ambassadors. Maybe a few exceptions, but (Cloony seems to really be into speedies). But it really does get annoying how much he shits on Omega and then has seemingly little bad to say about hype brands like AP and Rolex.
