Bush League Fishing in the Chassahowitzka NWR Florida

- Headed back to the Chassahowitzka NWR in Florida to flip Mirrodine suspending twitch baits and soft plastic paddletails rigged weedless. Had some good water to run around in so I was running a lot of back country creeks checking out a lot of spots!! The bite was reel good with catches of Redfish, Speckled Trout and Snook ....So hop aboard and take a boat ride to the Refuge on the Gulf Coast of Florida!!

Fatbelly Fishing.....Thanks!! This Mangrove Island in the Middle of Pine Island Bay started because of all the sand that has accumulated there and it's a favorite resting area especially for cormorants plus it's right on my route into the Refuge ..So I don't mind waking them up on my travels!!
'One of the bush boys'...my favorite line in the video. You hold those bulls in that light perfectly. They shine like gold. Nice trout too. You did an awesome intro by the way. Can't beat that view.

With a concentration of Tannic in the water the skin pigmentation has that Bronzze Quality and I like to chase the birds off Nickel Island which I pass by in my travels north....Enjoy your week!!

FloridaEastCoast SurfFishing....Thanks!! I like to keep the Egrets and Cormorants on their toes since this is my exact route to the Refuge....That Island Bird Central!! It was a good day up north when I can snagg a Slamm....The Reds in the bushes weren't a biggie but when Mr. Linesider hits the Mangroves I'm figuring another trip to the tackle store....LOL!!

Heather Thee Owl Queen - Owl documentaries....Thanks!! When I moved to Florida it took me about 5 years to figure where I was going to permanently live since I worked most of the state. During those 5 years I got to test the waters so to speak and Bayport became my home. I'm just a few miles from 25 miles of remote refuge and I can haul my boats anywhere in the state and be comfortable fishing anywhere either inshore or offshore plus Florida is known for it's great weather!!

The tides up here have been so bad this winter with no water so most of my time on the water has been offshore and Grouper season is closed till June so when there's any water at all I'm in the Refuge!! Wow! I'm not a fisherwoman so I'm surprised how much I enjoyed you catching those fish! I really like that you do catch and release. So peaceful, gave me a zen feeling. I see, and chat with, people fishing nearly everywhere Xander and I adventure. They are usually very nice peeps. I was just at the Chassahowitzka WMA earlier this week to check out Buford Springs. It was beautiful. Aren't we lucky to have such a wonderful playground to explore in our own backyard! Wishing you a happy day and much fun catching those fish.

All of my trips on the Skinny Water are C/R....I catch plenty of Offshore species such as Grouper, Snapper and Dolphin that I don't need anymore fillets...I kind of have the motto that a Fish is too valuable to catch only once!! The Chazz has a lot of water activities and it's usually knot all that crowded....I know how lucky I am because I spend the majority of my time in the Refuge....Have a great weekend!!

The fish are there but the possibility of destroying my lower unit has limited my fishing!! Wayn Jul....Thanks!! The Tannic Water that comes from the swamp plays a huge role in highlighting the Bronzze color on Mr. Red!! Mr. Snook got himself so tangled up it allowed me to save 10 bucks and get some decent footage because normally when he gets in the bushes it's game over and it's back to the tackle shop!!

The grass isn't so bad and on occasions the Reds head for the weeds...But when Mr. Snook heads for the Mangroves there's a good chance I'll be making a trip to the tackle store at 10 bucks a pop....LOL!! We're lucky down here to have Snook but they don't like reel cold water and shut down when it goes below 70 degrees!!
Wes Lovelace I kinda been out of the loop and fishing from my dock and getting real nice trout. Haven’t been in the yak or boat for over a month. Starting to warm up again and if the winds can stay out of the 20+ range I’m gonna get out there more consistently again.

OUT AND ABOUT OUTDOORS WITH RON AND FRIENDS....Thanks!! When the weather is calm like it was every detail is highlighted when filming. When the fish bury up in the chord grass getting them out is pretty easy...But when they get in those Mangroves your chances of extraction are knot very good....With that Snook I was lucky that I didn't need to take a trip to the Tackle store....LOL!!

@@WesLovelace I live a few miles north of Wilmington NC and the cold has me shut down, caught a had full of rat reds last sat in 33 deg temps... It was fun for those few bites but Im waiting on the warm up to get back on the water.... Tight lines

LOL....I was wondering where that title came from...... Back in my salty days in the winter for a good big trout topwater bite I'd pop that topwater bait and let it set and set and repeat.... When they would hit it it would be an explosion...... Only good those lady fish are good for its shark bait.....LOL Good snook and yeap you're lucky to get that one.... color makes a difference for all species..... at times.....You got an a good bite and a good variety of fish even though there water temps were cold...... Stay At'um......

Ladies work well on Grouper but I don't bother with storing bait....Pay the money and save the time and hassle!! Here lately we're having near record temps of 80....Been in the Refuge late the last 2 days and haven't seen a sole....I'm fishing and getting in some trigger time on a new Ruger LCP II in 22 LR....Life's good!!
@@WesLovelace sounds like it! the big fish here wont be biting in these streams till the water hits around 50 then it's game on

Chased some birds, caught some nice reds, trout, lady fish, good day. Those reds were running for the weeds though.
