Never! Alligators, snakes, no-see-ums leaving intensely itchy bites. Spiders and palmetto bugs galore.Thank God I do not live in FL anymore.

Are you sure you went to the Chaz River? Sounds like you went to the Adirondacks. I have yet to have a bug bite during many trips in and on the Chaz since 1987. Spiders and snakes bother you then go secure better an apt. in some ugly, polluted, crime infested crowded hot noisy city.
