It's made by Chinese designers who are using translation software, and G looks similar to C, with a one-line difference, so the person who typed it up probably just couldn't tell the difference between the two.
Caleb Reader think about how little sense that makes... if they were not familiar with English and we're using a translator why would they be using an English keyboard? They'd probably use a touch screen to write standard Chinese, or use a wubi keyboard or something then run it through a translator, and viola. Think about it, if you were curious how "hello" looks in Chinese, do you translate it through Google, then go out buy a standard Chinese keyboard then figure out how to retype what you see, let alone do that for each and every character for an entire product box or do you simply copy and paste it? Idk anyone that'd go through the trouble of typing crystal in their native language, have it translated, buy a keyboard they'd use once for a knockoff product that they cut absolutely every corner for to maximize profit, then find each individual letter they've never seen before and retype everything.
Not to mention most Chinese people today are fairly comfortable with Pinyin, I.e. sounding out words using an English looking keyboard to type. In other words instead of trying to figure out how to type this: 你好 on a keyboard without making it have ten gazillion keys for each possible symbol, they type this: nĭ hăo, which can be done using a regular english keyboard and modifiers. Which means they'd be familiar with C - Sìchuān as well as G - gǔgē

I've made peace with the GB boy's aspect ratio. The NES games we played and enjoyed on our 4:3 CRTs were stretched too. Most of us just had no idea at the time.

I don't own either of these but based on what I've seen I'd say I have more respect for the GB Boy Colour. With that product, the makers attempted to give you a working, semi-decent quality product that's actually quite versatile in use.
With the SP I can't say I've ever quite seen such blatant piracy from a clone console maker lol
I agree with you man, the SP is a bit of a joke, would rather have an official SP and a multi cart. The GB Boy is something genuinely intriguing.
The parts they used are actually pretty decent with a few actual name brand chips even. the one thing they NAILED out of the park and blew nintendo out of the water is the headphone jack. The power they produce is actually enough to drive 300 ohm sennheiser headphones and the dynamic range of audio is much wider on the gb boy then a real gameboy color while without any sort of audio distortion that I could hear and I am kinda picky on audio. Oracle of seasons was rather a treat to listen to while playing through that game.
One of the few clone consoles I've seen with pros that actually outweigh the cons.

@despacito 2 Doesn't get in the way much, though it does introduce some horizontal distortion. I noticed this first in Mega Man II with background screen patterns; a one-by-one horizontal line pattern going from top to bottom became uneven.

The GB Boy Colour is my Gameboy of choice when travelling because its just so good. Great battery life, great screen, loud etc. I changed the d-pad on mine to one from a real Gameboy.

I actually play GB and GBA games on my PSP. By hacking it and installing an emulator which is pretty easy nowadays you get the best gameboy ever. And its 100% portable and plays ps1 and psp games too... I love my psp so much.

I know this video is old now, but I was actually convinced to get a GB Boy Colour at one point. And mine was terrible. The built in games wouldn't save, and it managed to erase all my saves from my original copy of Link's Awakening. I checked in a real GBC later and the saves still worked after doing a new test save. It also only worked at all for two weeks. It eventually started just turning off on its own after a minute of power on with full batteries.
I'm sure they can be good, mine was just defective.

nice comparison video! love my gb boy colour i got the yellow back in december :D pair it with an everdrive gb and you have a deadly combo. i'm the kind of person who cannot play games with stretched aspect ratios in emulators but with this it really is excusable, great screen color/light and good controls, good loud volume level. if they ever get the solid green in stock would buy again

I had one of these called GB BOY non Color versions as my 1st handheld game console like 20 years ago in elementary school in China and played fake illegal copy Pokemon game on it for the 1st time. I loved it, It was a good time. Can't believe they are still around.

Given the fact that it has a curve cart slot, a GBA SP charging port and a not so square screen, I suspect that it is in fact a GBA clone in a GBC shell. Why don't you give it a try with a GBA game?

I use my GB boy C every day and I now prefer the wider screen on GB boy over the original screen ratio. It makes it look just a little bit more modern.
