The reason the top screen wasnt working is because the ribbon cable was installed BACKWARDS aka upside down.

That green and black shell looks really cool! Then again, the worn-down shell it came in had some character. I might've kept it that way assuming it wasn't damaged or something.

I hope the case doesn't deteriorate like the official Nintendo one

man i love watching his videos, he is actually what got me to try opening up my old 3ds and try to fix it myself, and although i did at least get it to turn back on, but iv really messed the thing up and would pay to learn how to soder or fix things and get new parts like ribbon cable clamps that are broken or better yet i wish i could just send him my 3ds to be fix i would pay anything

did the exact same thing with mine. it was red and i put this exact same aftermarket shell. except that i ended up breaking the cameras and speakers flat cable. working on the n3dsxl sucks

Would be sick if you put the capture software on a microsd card, then just Teflon taped it inside the device. That way if someone finds it in the future and cracks it open the software is always there. You know incase it one day is no longer downloadable.

This is lovely, I have a black DS lite that I own since launch. It's not as dirty as this one because it's black, but i was used to the extreme and so many of my good memories come from this small device. I bought a almost brand new one for my collection, but I'll keep my og one forever

Replacing the shell like you did, don’t you feel like the shell is made cheaply. Do you think that there will be a more quality type of housing and shell that will be made in the future other than getting one from another 3Ds xl that’s not working and swapping that shell out

My cousins who are in their teens now. Gave me 2 New 3DS XLs a couple of years ago. A gray and a Galaxy model. The gray unit was shot. But the Galaxy just needed a new top screen and covers. I tried doing the work myself.... never again. I had to pay someone to do it which lead to the other things breaking.
