The issue with my $100K rig is my kids are eating cornflakes for dinner for the next 5 years.
yeah if i had 100k laying around i’d probably go buy an actual race car lol
@@RydersRacing that's what I was thinking every time watching him, but it's very impressive nonetheless
@@RydersRacing you wish, thats not even enough for a lambo, not to mention more parts (turbo, ecu, intakes, a stronger engine block), tires, aero, etc.
@@_stoned_rn_ you act like the only "racecar" is a lambo lol, my built supercharged pro-touring 68 chevelle costed around 75k.
@@RydersRacing tbf a 100k sim rig gets you endless seasons of racing, whereas 100k of real racing might get u 10 seasons at most if u race C1s or minis or something affordable like that. He’ll isn’t a season of gt racing like 100-200k USD?
Cheers for the shout out Will, I'm the same as you mate, I can take or leave the bezel free kits, mostly a pain in the arse to keep on the rig, certainly when the motion system is shaking the whole room! lol
I do love my screen bezel kit but you only have to look at them to scratch them, most crazy sensitive product i’ve ever bought. i’m on set 2 already 😁
@Peter Parnell 😂
I wish bezel free kit was an option but it looks like it's discontinued.
This has to be one of the BEST info CZcams videos that I have seen. I’ve always liked the thought of racing, but it was not in the cards. SIM racing looks like a blast. Your set up is amazing. The realism is mind blowing. I’m 64 with a bucket list and having something like your set up would be a dream come true. But it’s not going to happen 😕. Montreal Canada
Very interesting video - gives you an insight how much work and thought has to be put in a rig like this!!
Thanks Dan. How are you finding your big screens now you’re a few months in?
just buying the most expensive stuff doesn't make it better
@@boostedmedia I'm not a big fan of the reflexions, apart from that is has been great :D Even though at the moment I'm on the 32" since the big TVs are already packed up for the move ...
Good on you for making this video.. Lifting back the curtain on exactly what you guys do takes a lot of guts and I applaud you for doing it. Sometimes everything is not what it seems, but the content that you guys smash out is at a mind blowing level and it is thanks to the hours and $$’s that you’ve put into it. Thank you and keep it up!
Those interested in something like this should look into VR as an alternative to 3 massive 4k screens. Especially if space is an issue.
and money lol
VR can’t be beat for immersion. It’s more convenient with screens though, and something like three 32 inch 1440p screens a bit closer is almost as good if not better in some ways, for a much, much lower cost and gpu horsepower.
@@DiViNiTY1337 The screens would be three times more expensive than a quest 2 plus link cable
@@noimageavailable2934 Yeah but unlike the Quest, with the screens you're not tied to Facebook's DRM on what you're allowed to play on your hardware.
@@billywashere6965 you no longer need a FB account to use a Quest 2. Also if you prefer a HP Reverb G2 is around $450 and a great upgrade. I run both in VR. Switches from triple 27"s a year ago and its worth every penny IMO.
Thank you for the honesty of explaining the drawbacks of a setup like this!
I would be very interested in knowing what your ultimate setup for sim racing would be.
Yep, ultimate sim racing setup video would be intresting!
Probably VR. It’s still not quite at the level of detail but within a couple years it will be. That sense of 3D Immersion using VR can’t be replicated using 2D screens.
@@Schwing27 VR for GT3 i think is good, but for drifting and rally and where you want full H pattern manual gearbox its not good. Also VR dont have that wide FOV so you just cant watch side window without moving your head.
I would not go past triple projection.. f#@k off the bezels completely, displayed around a halfcut car.
I’ve got triple 32 inch screens and VR, but I’ve given up with ACC and VR just can’t get good FPS and graphics
Brilliant video, really nice to get the drawbacks as well, loving the effort you guys go to when bringing us great content and thanks for the pain you've been through to make it look so enjoyable for us!
People need to remember this rig is the ultimate for content creation only. It looks impressive because we are viewing it from youtube on a flat 2d screen. A decent VR setup with transducers will be way more immersive at a fraction of the cost.
VR still has its limitations. From my perspective my triple screen setup is a much better overall experience than my VR experience with a high resolution headset.
VR is way too hot and uncomfortable for me. I've used VR, ultrawide, and triple screen and I would recommend triple screen over the other two.
@@leem0401 Interesting. Because I have the compete opposite feeling about VR.
I was a dork about trying to make VR comfortable because my wife vetoed the idea of three screens spanning the room. I drive mostly open wheel in IRacing so I built a rig in a reclined F1/Indy position. It’s really low, to the ground. The top of my 10” inch wheel is 29” off the ground. I have to quick release the wheel to get in and out of the thing, but it’s comfortable when in it.
I keep the room cold and use fan to blow air across my face. I even clip a drink tube to my shirt.
@@rustywheels637 if you have top spec system with rtx 3090 and good cpu with top of line headset like Pimax or hp reverb or valve index there’s no way you’d choose triples over it
I have VR and Triples I prefer Triples for racing as I can tab out check set ups and generally do lots of stuff on the go. Not to mention VR still needs a lot of improvements. But I do prefer using VR in flying simulators
Amazing rig, a dream for many of us. Sure you've got it with very much effort, congrats and thanks for the videos with all this passion that you put in to it, massive and spectacular sim.
Brilliant vid mate! Love the technical behind the scenes type info. The vertical sweet spot was particularly enlightening. 😀👍🏁
Will you have my utmost support and vote you have got me into sim racing and helped me a lot in choosing the equipment i wanted to buy. Cheers mate, thank you and keep up the good work. it means a lot.
Excellent video guys. You don’t realise how much detail you put into the rig just to make video content. Would love to see your dream pure racing sim! It’s a must video :)
What an excelent video guys, the rig it's impressive especially on the racing footage of course. Thanks for the review really interesting.
Great video. Shows just how much thought and hard work goes into building something like this. Thanks.
Wow Will. Just WOW! what an incredible work and passion you put on this. I love it! Congrats, mate! Keep on going, I really appreciate your dedication and we can feel your passion through this videos.
More of these videos please 😄
We're relocating and convinced gf we need space for sim rig, she agreed since I am currently taking up the dining room in our apartment. She's a keeper!
These informative types of videos are among my favourite in the sim racing community
Damn thanks for taking the time to do this. Really valuable insights to your setup - thanks fella 👍
Excellent vid Will. Nice to keep things real sometimes!
Yet another incredible video Will! I'll probably never build a rig of this size but I love following each detail as if I can afford it😂😂
I can only imagine that those who wanna get into it at this scale appreciate your generosity with the level of info you share. Reminds me of what you said that you enjoyed the generosity of aim racers compared to what you experienced when you were racing in real life.
Amazing content as always Will! This was very informative and I learned a lot. Thank you for sharing your expertise and opinions with us.
thanks Will, another clear, concise and highly informative production.
Thanks for the video. Really enjoyed the honest behind the seen look.
You guys are f*ing geniuses. The whole community is so lucky to have Boosted Media.
So many salty comments about putting "100k" in the title of the video. Calm down people, Will and Tom do great job and are really honest guys!
That "100k" is there not to brag, but to peak attention and gain views which is a fair play on their part.
Is it really worth 100l tho?
@@aaronsturm7360 depends on currency (It should be AU$) and what they count as part of it. (2 really high end PCs, a lot of wheels and each one of them could easily cost 800 to 1000 USD), Motion, 3 huge gaming displays. I believe it could be
@@rorhus1844 yeah if you put it that way it might. It's still a baffling number
@@aaronsturm7360 well even if it's not, I dont have a problem with it. They are trying to promote their channel on CZcams where clickbait is highly favored (veritasium has a good video on this topic). And it's a business at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is their honesty and doing great job at reviews which they do :)
@@aaronsturm7360 Nope and that is the problem we have so many people trying to pretend which is just lying for clout. This has a ton of bad knock on effects but it okay for people to lie to these people because they like the guy, the second they don't then it is burn them at the stake...
Wow, the attention to detail you go through just so that as we viewers see and share the immersion. Just goes to show that It's not just buying expensive equipment , the setting up is more important.
Wow, that room temperature analysis was very interesting, a huge factor.
That section on the camera’s vertical position impacting screen distortion was fascinating. Makes complete sense in hindsight but I never would have thought of it either.
Huge Fan here. You guys are next level and your videos and personality set you apart. Would love too hear your recommendations for a set-up for just racing. Thanks!
Thanks for a great video as usual Will. That other video for the ultimate sim rig just for racing would be excellent and I am sure many people would be interested in that. I am also interested in your view on the NRG motion platform vs your new setup
Really cool to understand the details and thought process!
Excellent video Will! Please consider making a follow up video with what would be your ideal setup (monitor size, motion platform, wheel and pedals, ambient lights, etc) if you were just a racing enthusiast instead of a content creator. Thanks!
Amazing setup! Congrats!
Excellent video. I’ve run into many of the same issues and realizations. The vertical sweet spot was a surprise to me as well I must admit. Most definitely I would love to see another where you present your ideal 65in Simrig for racing specifically.
Found your channel this week. Must say, love the content. Keep it up👌🏻👌🏻
The videos you make with weather and other effects turned up are second to none! As computer and monitor hardware drops in price over the next several years, I can see myself attempting a poor man's version. Thanks for the insight.
That is why I got a triple 27 inch 1080p monitor set-up.
With 27 inches 1080p isn't a problem and you can get them with high refresh rate. Mine are 144hz.
Got them very cheap because they are just HD. All of them together around 700 euro. So just a fraction of the cost of a single monitor in this.
Also because of the HD they don't need a super PC since all of them together are probably easier than trying to get image from a singe 4K screen. So you can use your console or a normal average PC without spending thousands.
I believe that is the best way to keep things low cost for average Joe's like us and still have a somewhat similar experience. I think everything together with the rig, wheel etc built are arount 3000. Didn't get anything for shaking my seat or anything because I don't really want to anyway but I can get one for another 3000 and one that moves everything with 5000 but I don't feel is worth it.
Anyway spending 3000 that is just a very small fraction(some buy a single GPU for that money) of this setup and getting a whole rig and triple monitors etc so you i can have a full Sim experience is a great investment. So I propose everyone to think investing like I did. It really is a lot more approachable and doable.
This rig is very well thought out! For everyone moaning in the comments… this is how this fella supports his family and pays his bills. $100,000 sim rig is expensive but it’s an investment for Will and his company!
This guy gets it. ❤️
@@boostedmedia Most people would get it mate if they stopped for a couple of seconds and thought before they typed a comment!
@@theozzie8459 Most people would also understand that this is clickbait and should be angry or at the very least understand it is clickbait instead of listening and believing. This rampant usage of lies and people's penchant for believing the bait is causing a ton of social issues. And you are one of the slow ones that just listen and believe without a thought in your head. Even using the most expensive prices, counting things they are using for streaming and 5 different wheels I can only get it up to 80000 AUD which is 51000 USD. Then we also have to pretend that he didn't get a bunch of this stuff for free or cheap because he is advertising for these people. It is bad enough when they are messing with people's assumptions that it is USD but then not even hitting the numbers they are claiming even with a bunch of extra junk that nobody would consider to be a part of "the rig" is just adding insult to injury.
I love it when you do these. Awesome Will. Thanks
Great video once again. Love the transparency. Cheers
20:25 Great demonstration! This also nicely shows that then the fence in your view seems to bend upwards in the bezel, your view position is too high relative to rendered view. That should allow nailing to correct setup pretty fast (basically apply similar logic that DSLR cameras use for autofocus).
Respect for all this effort. Amazing.
Wow there is a lot going on to make it all work! Great video, very entertaining!
You've come a long way Will from Fanatec unboxing's to this beast setup.
Great video guys again - on reading some of the comments below - would so welcome a video on your ultimate rig set up just for racing only ..... hopefully you can find time to fit it in as I am sure so many of your followers are just itching to understand what you would race with regarding set up........
Yep I'm keen for your ultimate sim rig setup if content creation wasn't a feature. Really appreciate your input and time. Thankyou!
Very fascinating stuff! So many 'behind the scenes' considerations we're not aware of as a viewer.
This might be a help : the in-game UI can be moved to any position you like in i-Racing. Dave Cam has a good youtube how-to video for this.
Ok when Australia gets dark we know Will is starting up his super simulator... 😂
Great work mate!
Can definitely see how much time adjusting the screens to get the right FOV for POV cam because the racing content with the helmet cam looks fkn awesome...just did a video on moving stuff around in the iracing UI using ALT+K but ya do have to change a few things in the app file, will send you a pm 🤙🏁
Very interesting. Thanks Will & Tom. 😊
I' m impressed Will!
9:20 You can get (or anyone looking to build something similar) panels, or "sheets" of frosted or smoked material, "plexiglass" like acrylic or polycarbonate stuff, that will help to diffuse and tone the overhead lights a bit. Obviously you could just adjust the brightness on the led strips, but that only gets you so much and requires specific placement, the panels would allow more freedom of adjustment and such.
Mad respect!! Great videos. You and Karl gosling both!! Let them haters hate!!!
I Will, great explanation off you rig and content creation idea. Excellent tutorial for us. Nice job. 👍👍🥇
Yes I want to see a video of you talking about the sim rig you would make just for racing. Including what size monitors you'd use among all the other details please
And i am very proud of you for on what that you have created for yourself, as you have done a awesome job with your channel and other tech videos as well, WELL DONE!👍😎👍
You can pull more than 10amps on a power Circuit, a PowerPoint is rated at 10a per plug but a standard power circuit in Australia you can pull 16a before you start to encounter tripping. Also, our voltage is now measured at 230v single phase
I was looking for this comment. When I hear about needing 3 phase is completely incorrect. At very worst case, upgrade the cable in the wall and put it on a larger breaker (RCBO). But at 1800w you could run two of these rigs on the existing circuit.
Interesting comments on motion. I use haptics in my seat and if it’s off I genuinely feel like I’m missing feedback. Curious about motion but always thought it might be more of a distraction than an assistance. The new NLR system peaked my interest in the topic
Learned a lot from this video. Thank you
Big car syndrome was very interesting. I have triple 27’s and have tried to mount them as low as possible to give me a true (or close to) dash view to help me with training for real life races in my caterham.
I have a narrow diameter sim core extension from a simucube 2 and the middle monitor sits in the gap. So I can get the monitor lower where normally the wheel base shaft would limit it. Trying to get it feel like 1 to 1 In virtual to real size i.e. not like how you explained with the wing mirrors. Top video 👍🏻
Spectacular summary of your experience Will! I appreciate your attention to detail with examining the highs and lows of high-end simulation setups. I do not have the space for full motion but am compromising by acquiring a seat belt tensioner system. Also, I am looking into the upcoming ASUS OLED screens to step up from triple 27". I particularly appreciated your comments regarding vertical parallax; your POV is critical to not experiencing the visual "sag" on the side monitors. You are a Master of your craft. All the best to another great year for your sim rig and channel. Regards.
ASUS are making a 27" OLED monitor?
@@solefreak2 sorry for the confusion. I should have been more specific. I was referring to the not-yet-released LG 42" C2 OLED and the ASUS 42” ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ. I am eager to examine these screens as upgrades to my current setup.
They definitely seem like good options.
i use 4K triples (27") and you've explained the various perspective scenarios extremely well! Just wanted to mention that VR goggles remove all of those perspective problems completely, and with the latest high res HMD units available, screen door and resolution are about 75% as good as 4K screens. but i still use the triples 90% of the time. This is an excellent video explanation of all the various problems with sim racing 'views'. Thank you for a job well done!
Will, since you've actually ran the Varjo Aero for sim racing, would you consider yourself someone to use VR sometimes during a race if you werent having to worry about content creation but purely for immersion / online racing? I find depth perception in VR to be quite amazing and actually am able to compete quite well in iRacing with it. Would like to hear your thoughts.
Really enjoyed the video. Quite informative.
Great video very informative keep up the great work
Such a dope video , great insight!
Man Cave Dreams... sigh. Stunning setup, guys and crazy good videos!
Amazing video, thank you!
Love it! Thanks for sharing
Awesome setup will, really hoping NLR send you there new motion and you could do a full motion test with seat mover and Traction loss system 👍
Great video Will and Tom. Would love a video of a good sim rig that’s not about content creation.
Yes definitely- ultimate rig for personal use would be an awesome video
would definitely love to see your ideal rig set up!
Yes please, make the other video you mentioned as well. Thanks a lot!
Very interested in hearing about your ideal racing simulator without content creation. I’ve got a motion rig myself with VR and a wind sim but am always looking for little ideas to make it better or more immersive 👍🙂
Great vid Will love the rig videos
Thanks for sharing!
1900W peak for the entire setup is actually pretty good. Back when I used to build computers, I built a dual Xeon machine with a 980, and 3 Xeon Phi coprocessors, and that computer alone used nearly 2100W. We had to use 2 EVGA 1600W PSUs on it.
Great Vid .. pretty new to the channel and love the content .. keep up the great work :)
Great video ! Very interesting incite.
Compelling video. I need to learn more than the handfull of tracks I always race first though before I invest further in my rig :) (Brands Hatch, Spa, Adelaide and Oulton Park are my go to)
Definitely a video of an ideal racing simulator (not for CC) would be great. I'm taking baby steps on building mine, with a DIY wooden rig and a G29, but my biggest concern is the screens. 3x 32" monitors vs 3x 40" tvs. Cheers.
Great review :)
would love a video on your ultimate setup for pure sim racing vs. content creation
Great insight.
In order to eliminate problems with head camera, you need a head tracker, 2 cameras fixed to the left and right of your head, mounted on the eye level, both should be connected to head tracker. In post with some overlap at the center and some crops to the sides. By this you would no longer have an issue of camera covering your view and no problems with straight lines since the cameras would be fixed at certain height.
Very cool video!!
I would love to have the same problems with this kind of rig ! :)
Thanks for the fascinating video especially on the sweet spot of the GoPro head mounted cameras. Incidentally the bezels on the LG TVs are very small and I was wondering weather the older 55 inch LG C6 monitor would have had I better combination regarding the vertical sweetspot distortion because that was a curved monitor so three of those together or any curved monitor / TV's would be ideal I think?
I would absolutely love to see what your ultimate personal rig would be. I got a SimLab GT1-EVO and CSL DD in October and within a couple of months upgraded to the DD1. I'm using it with an Xbox Series X and a 65" LG OLED at present. With graphics cards starting to fall in price I will be moving to PC as it was always the plan so a comprehensive end game build blueprint would be great.
Vr actually saved me from giving up this hobby. I sold my ultrawide monitor and use Quest 2.
It would be very interesting to see what's your idea of a proper single screen rig is? Great video btw!
Great video, really nice to get into the nuts and bolts.
Very surprised at power draw, my mind was thinking much higher (5.5kW), mind you with the current energy prices happy to stick to VR! I know this comes up a lot and isn't ideal for a streamer but my ultimate set up would be VR based with a second person acting as the streaming/community manager, allowing me to concentrate more on driving whilst said second person deals with community questions in real time and relays the better ones for example. (I say all this whilst being completely clueless as to what solutions exist out there)
here in Australia our general power outlets are rated to 10 amps however that is just on a single point generally speaking a power circuit will always be wired and protected by a 16-20A circuit breaker as long as you try and minimise the amount of power boards and plugging what you can into the wall it should never give you an issue
Love it mate 👌
Fascinating, nicely describe as usual. 🏎🏎🏎🏎🏎📽
holy shite sir youve exploded in subs since I started watching you WHEN DID YOU HIT 200k!?
Nice video, really puts the pros and cons of a rig like your in perspective, I am trying to work out what would be the best size screens for an actual 1 to 1 scale from the driving perspective, if it is even possible Thank you
It’s going to vary depending on the car but generally I recommend 32inch 16:9 aspect ratio screens.
Great video Will. Looking forward to the new video Without the content creation in mind. 💯
