    The Honda CR-V is the overwhelming favorite in the compact crossover segment, and for good reason. CR-Vs are affordable, practical, efficient, reliable, and safe, and they hold their value well over time. Honda’s 2017 CR-V will undoubtedly continue providing its owners everything they’ve come to expect, and thanks to a complete redesign, it delivers even more. Is this the new benchmark in the segment?
    Front styling remains slightly awkward. Otherwise, Honda mixes traditional CR-V cues with modern sculpturing, and the rear end is particularly attractive. Dual exhaust outlets even lend this SUV a hint of sex appeal, and while they wouldn’t be my first choice, even the trippy aluminum wheel design adds character.
    Inside, the CR-V Touring easily passes for premium, and some people might consider it legitimately luxurious. The cabin exudes refinement and attention to detail, and while there’s plenty of plastic covering various surfaces, it’s of a substantial quality. Read more on CarGurus: cargur.us/ffKxL

      F CHINO-jr. the Gunmetal Gray and Modern Steel Metallic are by far the best looking colours. They show the new design cues the most. My girlfriend bought the White Pearl and it too is nice, but there was a Touring Modern Steel Metallic in the showroom and it looked pretty slick.

      F CHINO-jr. You won't be disappointed with the 2017. The interior is beautiful and the ride, handling, cabin noise and features are all an improvement over the previous generation. We owned a 2014 before the 2017 and they've really done a nice job with the new one.

    Nice review, Mr. Wardlaw! I just love the very descriptive words you always seem to incorporate in your videos! Also, I love how concise you leave your reviews!
    The CRV seems like a pretty neat offering in the class, and based off of your experience it seems like it can hold the place for one of the best in its class! I cannot wait until I can review the CRV, myself! Keep up the great work!😉

    I went to the 2017 Los Angeles Car Show, walked around and every SUV I climbed into, nothing felt as good as the Honda CR-V, the only SUV that came close was the Volvo XC60, different class but a lot of the luxury brands got cheap depending upon name and less in aesthetics. Not sure about reliability on the Volvo but on the Honda this says it right. I like the way Honda works, only 4 trims no options. Base model LX, EX comes with everything but leather (cloth seats just as comfortable) and the lift gate EX-LX leather, push button lift gate, Touring foot-gate, navigation (though EX and above get Apple/Android and your choice of nav including Google Maps, Waze, etc. It was no surprise that Motortrend named this 2018 SUV of the Year.

    Rode in one a few days ago. Found the ride to be a bit firm and engine was a little unrefined on acceleration. Maybe im just used to my 17 year old Lexus with 16 inch wheels, fat tires, and buttery V6. Super practical, well made, and spacious though.

  • @rampar77
    @rampar77 Před 6 lety +2

    I think Honda cut their own throats. I was going to trade my 2014 CRV-LX for a 2017 CRV EXL, unfortunately the
    only engine I could get was a Turbo except on LX. I was also going to buy my wife an Accord 2018 and it also
    comes with Turbo. I am a die hard fan of the reliable 2.4 and the 3.0 engine by owning several in the past. There is
    no way that I am going to get into Turbo. I tested drove a CRV and there was a noticeable Turbo lack. I didn't have
    a chance to drive at high speed to test the power coming out of a hole but I am sure it will be disappointing. Honda
    haven't realized that their cars were sold on reliability, not MPG. Instead of trying to add 20 more HP or torque to
    the 2.4 engine (200/200) or add 3.0/3.5 option, they went for fuel economy. I would buy a RDX V-6 for me and a
    Camry for my wife instead.

  • @anastasiahromanova6529

    What does "optional AWD" mean? Like you can disengage it just like a conventional 4WD?

    • @cargurus
      @cargurus  Před 7 lety +1

      Hey Anastasiah, "Optional AWD" means Honda offers versions of the CR-V with AWD, as opposed to the standard FWD configuration. Be aware CR-V's equipped with AWD will be sold at a premium as compared to models equipped with FWD. The CR-V either comes exclusively with FWD or AWD, you are not able to switch between configurations. We hope this helps!

  • @johnhamer7157
    @johnhamer7157 Před 7 lety

    So... the 1.5 turbo costs more, adds complexity with great probability of future problems, and in your test doesn't improve gas mileage. If I don't live in Denver, why would I want the turbo again? Can you get the naturally aspirated engine in the higher trim levels?

    • @Phrancis5
      @Phrancis5 Před 7 lety

      Of course your milage will vary. Besides slightly better mpgs and power, the main advantage is HP and torque at lower revs, so better for real world driving. Turbos do add complexity, but Honda usually puts a premium on long-term reliability and I've personally had good experiences with some of their newer tech lasting a long time.

      @Hasan I bought a 1st year Honda model with a new complicated vtec and active torque vectoring sys back in 96. After more than 20 years of hard driving every system on the Prelude Type SH still works perfectly and has needed no repairs beyond consumables. It's parked next to the new turbo CR-V that I bought a month ago. Ask me again in 20 yrs if that turbo was unreliable. LOL!! It's not highly boosted and as long as you keep up with oil changes, the bearings should be just fine. Every major Honda model will have a turbo now, so I'm confident they've done their homework in making it reliable.

    • @JB-dw1qo
      @JB-dw1qo Před 7 lety +2

      W-_-T Same here. Give the U.S the panoramic roof option like the Canadians have. Also, I love my cooled seats in my current car (must have in Texas). It's a shame Honda didn't at least include those.

    • @tntmyth
      @tntmyth Před 7 lety +3

      I prefer a regular size sunroof. It's a better option here in Florida and other hot sunny states like Texas and Arizona. The sun shade on a traditional sunroof can block out all the light, not like some of the translucent shades on the panoramic variety. It gets hot here in Florida most of the year and the sun and heat can beat on you and keep the car hot if it can get through all the time. Also the panoramic sunroofs can start to creak, rattle and even leak affecting long term reliability. I see thepanoramics as not necessarily an improvement. Honda made a good choice not jumping on the latest trend.

    A perfect car would be quiet. Very quiet.
