The Spray Gun prevented a very tired finger :)

Take notes kids, this is how its done. They followed the simple but key components of a good dipping. 1. Proper prep. 2. Consistent distance when spraying (16-24inches). 3. Spray direction. 4. Drying properly. Great work!
We used 4 cans. I didn't want to cut in the video. People can watsch the entire clip or skip to the end for the result. We did way more than 7 coats, key is not to spray too much at once but be patient. Spraying too much will cause runners.
I just bought the spray gun trigger because last time when I was trying to paint the roof, it ended up with tiger stripes (no enough overlapping and some areas were painted in arc lines). Your video makes me confident again to re-do the roof. Dank je mal.
After the last coat you can peel off right away. This prevents the dip from sticking to the tape as you remove it. If you wait too long, removing the tape can actually peel of the areas you don't want removed.

Be patient and apply thin layers. The first few layers you think that it will not be ok in the end but it will. We had 4 canisters but for we could use a fifth to get 100% cover.
Hand wash only for sure but that was before dipping as well. We did more than 7 coats (4 cans). Because of the infra red light we were able tp spray the next layer very fast. All depends on temperature and humidity.

Dope vid!! But might I suggest applying some glossifier to make it pop & look like those glass moonroofs?? Would look sick!!
How many cans you used
Awesome job man! came out better then expected! my im doing the same to my civic si sedan, i really hope it comes out as nice as yours! do you have any tips that i can use, due to the fact im doing it the exact method you are!
How did you get the gun to work?? I have the same one and it doesn't apply enough pressure to push down the can button, also I did it outside and didn't come out very smooth, would doing it inside make it look any better?

You don't have to hand wash only, I use a 2000+ PSI pressure washer on four coats only and it holds up very well

How is it holding up? Do you hand wash only? About how many coats did you do and about how many minutes in between coats? Im looking to do this very soon to my car.

The result is great.....it looks like having texture but i don't mind at all......it still looks great!!!!remember......plasti dip is rubber spray....not colour paint,no matter how many coats you apply....it still may look like sandpaper....

Ik denk dat wax inderdaad nadelig kan zijn voor de hechting en een mooi resultaat vanwege beading van de spray. Hier is wel eerst gekleid en gepolijst. Daarna ontvet en met Plasti Dip behandeld.
Did u end up with texture? Or was it all smooth?

2- how many cans did it take
3- how often should it be removed and redone approx.
4- when fully done is it basically peel the tape away and your done or what else has to be done?
5- did you cover or spray over the antenna
1. Do not remember after more than 8 years :)
2. I think there were 4 cans but not 100% sure.
3. No idea, the car was sold before there were any issues with the dip. That was after a few years.
4. Yes, just remove tape and let it dry.
5. The antenne was not covered op, no issues at all.

Looks like a good job , no tips to give you. But how many cans did you end up using ? I didn't watch the whole video I cut through every 30 seconds to see the progress but it looked like you did 5-7 coats . I used to have a mkiv gti , great cars not the most reliable but very fun
Stripes show whe you spray large areas with spray cans. Its alright with earlex
We wanted the matt finish so no glossifier for us :)
To my knowledge if it comes off than it was loose anyway. Paint does not come loose easily so it was bound to happen anyway. I don't see how Plasti Dip could remove the paint if it wasn't loose to begin with. I say go for it :)

Hello Dennis! Quick question, I have been wanting to do this on my mk4 GLI for a while now. I just want to do the roof. My only concern is that the clear coat on my roof is fading a bit because of the sun here in Florida. Is it advisable to plastidip it even if my paint is going bad? it has no chips or anything. and it is still a pretty smooth surface. I just wanted to make sure it doesnt make things worse. Thanks in advance for your help.
Stripes go away more coats? Hmmm and the thicker the more texture ?
The stripes show up when (no offense to this video) you do too light of coats, it drys but each coat on top of it will dry showing whats underneath it when the coats are really light, thats why the lines follow the spray patterns. And the texture is basically just how far you spray from, if you spray from farther out the dip tends to clump to itself slightly in the air so it gets a texture to it.

the most important step is making sure your plasti dip can is spraying a mist like "dust" I say again 🇮🇲🇵🇴🇷🇹🇦🇳🇹.... make sure your can is spraying correctly for a smooth finish.
Volgens mij waren het 5 busjes maar het kunnen er ook 6 geweest zijn.
Hier hetzelfde maar we hadden geen Plast Dip meer. Je kan later altijd nog wat erbij spuiten.

grip tape and plasti dip are two completely different things...
Something is rong with your spray gun then. It was just click on and spray. If it's not spraying than it's most lekly broken. There is no trick or something. This wasn't very smooth either it was with a texture. Maybe with a big paint spraygun you can get it smoother?
Congratulations, your car will now be hotter than hell and will use more fuel and go slower because of engine power used to run the air conditioner a lot more.
