@@florentdevier That is very true. Red and Arri cameras will become alot less popular when cinematographers start buying cameras instead of renting them.
@@TheShipMunksTV I don't think arri or red will be replaced anytime soon. Filmmakers will continue to rent arri and red until they stop releasing new cameras. The zcam will be popular for low-budget filmmakers, but for high-production, renting Red/arri will be far more relevant.
So far, I've only seen BGH1/BS1H, FX30, C70, and komodo in commercial production. Although, this could be because zcams were not widely used in my area. But even though I agree that the zcam may dominate the filmmaker market in a few years, and I'll probably buy one later.

It's a no brainer for small film studios. It's like a budget red. Also 4k 160p ?! Wireless monitor?! That almost sounds too good to be true...

Owned this camera for quite a few months now and I've thoroughly enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend spending the extra money to go for this over the Pocket. I find it a lot easier to work with in many different scenarios.

No doubt that the E2 is more user friendly in most ways than the BMPCC, but i much prefer BRAW over ZRAW
Yeah, the footage is unusable compared to bmpcc. Especially high framerate footage looks like shot on smartphone.
BRAW is a format. Zlog is a color curve. You make big confusions here.
It's like comparing orange and apples.
BRAW equivalent iz ZRAW.
Zlog equivalent is the Film curve in blackmagic cameras.
Elite Extremophile yeah I’d try actually using the camera, or looking at footage from people with capable hands before saying ridiculous stuff like this. Unusable? Not even close... 1080 240fps has some issues on E2, but 4K slow mo is brilliant on this thing.

I’m interested in the upcoming 8K model, should be interesting what comes from that and where that 8K sensor could turn up on the competition’s side!

@@oladee9212 16k is literally quadruple the size as 8k... the logical next step with technology would be 12k which still doesn't make sense with how few people can even view anything on 8k... not to mention the codec efficiency and computing on the camera to store all that data
And then any decent DOP will filter it in order to look less sharp...
@@deniss.6205 Exactly. Either front FX filters, post processing, vintage/softer lenses, etc. Even 8k is extremely harsh on human faces/imperfections.
@@andrewlheureux9743 I remember back when movies where starting to be shot in HD, that it would be every actors nightmare to have their pores and flaws displayed on giant screens. I therefore don't believe hollywood cares about more Ks or resolution for that matter, only final consumers.

A full frame version of this would make me squishy. I can think of no better gimbal cam for run and gun.
Was thinkin the same. Because itll be generating larger data rates, im guessing it might be lucky to push 4k120p. But thatd still be amazing. I was thinking about making some camera switch eventually and it sounds like itll be when the full frame version of this comes out

I have a few questions, What lens mount does it comes with? How many stops of dynamic range does this camera have officially and in real world scenario? what is it's native ISO? And most importantly what media does it record on?
MFT, 13 or 16 in WDR, native at 500 and 2500, and CFast or external SSD through USB-C.

How long does it take to connect to the phone (with wifi and without)? And what about audio and functionality? I'm not too into having to use a touch screen to adjust exposure and audio levels. Does this work as a run and gun camera, where one can quickly adjust exposure on the fly?
6:29- Graphic typo? Video says max is 4k 150P, but your audio says 4k 160P. Looks like Z-Cam is really making a name for itself. Kinda wish BlackMagic made a similar screenless version of their Pocket Cinema Camera, and a separate external recorder with their awesome user interface, and higher peak brightness.

160fps at UHD 2.4:1, and 150fps at 4K DCI 2.4:1.

the com is a standard that allow you tu put a multiple wire cable splitter with sdi and other things, it's a common port for broadcast camera

I was about to get a new monitor for video/photo shooting, which is the new Andycine A6 Plus, which costs around 230$, and I didn't know about the Shinobi monitor, but thanks to you I know about it now and I changed my mind about getting the Andycine monitor, I'll get the Atomos Shinobi instead!

This is absolutely the Motorola 2way and Dreamcast system of today! Anyone remember those? Of course not. Internet connection and printer port... Someone was high af when they made this camera! “Hey we’ve got some parts left over from 1999. What should we do with them?” Zcam: “we’ll take them. We need to fill space on our camera anyway.”
What's about Auto Focus?
Many trade-offs here. Form factor size is great, but is lost with attaching monitors. Pro Res, h.265 & coded vs BRAW? Probably not enough here to warrant replacing a BM4k, but great option if stating from scratch, and one doesn't mind doing the initial and subsequent rigging required.

Hey mate , how are you? good little vid, but one thing I might have missed or perhaps you have not mentioned, does the z cam comes with in-body stabilization, and if yes is it any good? also how does it perform AF wise and push focus? cheers bud!
victor munhoz hey, it doesn’t have I.S. And AF is quite basic. I’d use the AF mainly just to lock focus before hitting record.
