    Our contractor has left us with a mess. He criss crossed our water lines to put the hot water on the right "because you don't want to reach thru hot water to turn on the cold" & he glued the water lines directly to the tub faucet fittings. We just found this out when we removed the drywall to get to the plumbing. To say I'm angry is an understatement. Now we've gotta cut the water lines to change out the faucet. Came here to make sure I buy the correct stuff because I 100% will be doing this myself. Oh he also glued the water lines directly to our water heater. We've spent so much money these past couple of wks fixing his "professional" work.

    Hello, most of the time there is only a wallpaper covered drywall panel there. Is that the type we are talking about. Most times you will have to cut an access. Sometimes you need to take the seam or joint trim and the top and bottom trim and gentle pry the whole panel off. Sometimes you just have to cut a access panel. Sometimes if you cut about three feet high across the back area and take the bottom portion off it exposes both the drain for tub replacement as well as the faucet connections.

There are some items that are only Mobile Home type such as self concealed electrical boxes, special sized doors, windows & tubs along with some tub faucets. Unfortunately, they do not make mobile home cabinetry. You will need to replace both the cabinet and the counter top with a standard home size. They usually are about 1-2" wider from the wall out. @randythemobilehomeguy3715  Před 4 lety +1

      Unfortunately you are correct. You will need to cut into the drywall. Best way to do this is to measure where your faucet from the floor up to faucet, and how far over from the back wall to faucet. Use this measurement when cutting into the drywall. If done right, you should cut right to where the back of the faucet is. I hope this helps! Good luck! :)

    I have the same faucet. As a single mom I’m freaking out a bit about cutting the wall in my kids closet (that’s what the tub butts up to). The handle for the cold came off. It appears to have snapped so the screw is in the handle and the plastic that it’s attached to is snapped. It’s not much more round than the screw and you can tell the plastic snapped by looking at the end. Do I really have to replace the entire faucet? I wish CZcams let me post a picture as I don’t feel I described it well.

    • @randythemobilehomeguy3715
      @randythemobilehomeguy3715  Před 4 lety

      No worries, I think I understand what you are talking about. First, thank you for watching the video. Now, you help you. If only the handle snapped, then you can just remove the screw and the broken handle. Inside behind the screw is a stem. Either plastic or brass. You use a wrench to turn it out of its place. Inspect the stem. If it looks in good shape still you can just replace the handle. If the stem is bad, you want to replace this first. And also the handle. You can do all this without having to cut in behind the wall.
      I hope this helps!

      Before you cut your wall, look to see if you have wall paneling. If you do, you can locate the strip that is hiding the seam of your walls. You can pull that away and then pull the wall paneling away and access the area behind your faucet. You will then reattach after you have completed the job. This is an alturnative to cutting an access hole. Thank you for watching!

    Hello, where exactly was it leaking? Was it inside the faucet, under the spout? That would mean bad faucet, which, with the plastic guts seems to happen sometimes. They do make this faucet with brass insides, though it’s quite a bit more expensive. If it’s the elbows, replace them of course, thx

    • @randydolph852
      @randydolph852 Před 3 lety

      Hello, yes sink faucets are also pretty simple, however, make sure to be gentle with getting those fittings off. Sometimes the fittings don’t go back on well and leak. Be ready for that with some new fittings just in case. You do at times need to be a tenth level yoga master to get up in there to get those fittings off and back on. Straight off and straight on is best and don’t overtighten. Tighten of course but carefully and not cranked down. They are the same type swivel fittings just straight swivels instead of an elbow. Good luck!

      @randythemobilehomeguy3715  Před rokem

      Hello, unfortunately sometimes they put the house together without thought to what may come next and put things in a place that is impossible to work on. When replacing this type of faucet, you have to get behind it to take it off, to disconnect the plumbing and unscrew it from the wall. If it does back right up to a furnace, it’s a hard one for sure, sorry to hear that. Sometimes you can cut the wall in the bathroom along the shower surround and pull it gently that way, though this could be destructive. I know I’m not much help, sorry

    any chance of fixing just the broken knob without having to replace the whole thing?

    • @randythemobilehomeguy3715
      @randythemobilehomeguy3715  Před 4 lety

      Hi. Yes you can replace just the knob. You need to remove the dial cover plate and behind that is a screw that you remove and now can replace the handle. If you are needing to replace the stem which is behind the handle, then you need to turn water off, remove the handle you will see either a brass or white plastic stem, you will use a wrench to twist off the stem. Get the right replacement part and replace the old stem. I hope that was a bit helpful. :)

The screw is getting stripped so I want to replace it asap. Can I replace just the hot water knob? Is there a special knob for mobile home faucets I need to purchase or would a local hardware store carry what I need? Do I need to turn the water off to do so?

    • @randythemobilehomeguy3715
      @randythemobilehomeguy3715  Před 4 lety

      @@victoriablais9332 Hello Victoria. Great question! And thank you for watching our video!
      Yes you can replace the handle of the faucet. Sometimes you can replace the handle with a universal one bought from a local hardware store. If they don't have it, you will need to purchase one from a mobile home store. If you are able to take off the working handle and use it for a reference with purchasing a new one, that would benefit you. If you are just replacing the handle you do not need to turn off the main water. Now if your teeth on the brass fitting or plastic fitting that the handle screws onto is bad and needs to be replaced, you will need to turn the main water off and drain out the line. That piece is called the 'stem & bonnet'. If you need to replace this, then you will want to take it all the way out. If you look on the piece along the rim you should see some markings. Those markings are the model number of that piece. If your local hardware store doesn't stock that item, you can find it online. Roughly $8-12 dollars a piece.
      I have found Mobile Home Parts-R-Us does carry mobile home faucets and parts. They should be able to ship you those smaller items. I hope this helps!

Lol I really don't know what he means. The shower i'm replacing has one handle but im only seeing two handle ones. there is no tub just a shower. Any idea what he means and or where I can get one? I think it's the whole thing I need. Shower head, Turn on valve inside shower and then the rough in valve. Thank U! Oh and this is for a Mobile home.

    How did you get the wall off

    • @randythemobilehomeguy3715
      @randythemobilehomeguy3715  Před 4 lety +2

      To remove the back wall, behind the surround to access the back end of the faucet, you will either already have the wall cut and be removable, or you will have to make a removable wall. This you will need to cut the wall itself.
      If you are looking to remove the surround, you will need to gently pull it away from the existing wall. Now, you want to be very careful, the surround was glued to the back wall, therefore, when removing it may cause it to crack, split or rip apart. When that happens, you need to replace the entire surround with a new one. Sometimes, you can carefully pull it away with out damaging the back wall.

      The mobile home is brought to your site where there is a main water hookup, often coming out of a well the size of a five gallon bucket. From there a main water line runs along the ground to the hook up on your home, most often under the water heater. On this line there is usually a meter. Most often there is a shut off down in the well and just before it goes Into the house. Also they often put a shutoff next to the meter. If you live in a park, often calling the maintenance office ‘should’ help though not always I know. If on land there should be a metal capped well, often by the street where there is a shutoff. Hope something in there helps. Thanks for the comment.
