0:00 Intro
0:05 The vehicle had a battery drain issue, where the battery kept going dead overnight. The technician fixed it and also replaced the battery.
0:17 This also happened in 2021 (this clip was filmed at the end of 2022).
More info here - www.thedrive.com/news/39794/r...
This Jeep Wrangler needs approximately $25000 in parts & labor. Engine + transmission was mostly damaged since it was flat towed in 4LO and 1st Gear.
0:32 The turbo got replaced (customer paid). An expensive mistake for misplacing an air freshener.
0:47 The technician didn't get more information regarding this, however, the customer's insurance company towed it away as it was an older Honda Accord and needed a lot more than what it was worth. Must have been a big driveway...
1:00 The Hyundai Sonata can come with a "regular" suspension or "sport" suspension. The customer installed struts for the sport version), where the mounting for the sway bar links is different. So every time he turned the wheel it would snap the sway bar links. A good reminder to double-check your parts and make sure they match the old one's you are taking off (unless there was an updated design by the manufacturer).
1:11 No extra info.
1:19 Renault (did not mention the model). The mechanic said this is the first time he has ever seen a vape cause this concern.
1:34 Hopefully the customer got new tires installed elsewhere. Those should not be driven on at all!
1:42 Forest Gump waving.
1:45 The shop removed it and told the customer that it was not safe to use at all.
1:53 All the repairs were done.
2:08 Engine oil dipstick is stuck between the oil pan and engine block. An important reminder to remove the dipstick when doing an oil pan reseal or replacement. The oil pan had to get removed and resealed.
2:15 Unfortunately the 2nd time we have seen this lately. The customer paid for the repairs.
2:27 Common to see on BMWs. Usually, pieces of the fan will lodge themselves into the hood. Fortunately, nobody was around and nobody was hurt.
2:35 Looks like the inner and outer tie rod end has been like this for a while since the welds are rusty.
2:45 The customer ran over something on the freeway which damaged the electric power steering rack, which they said sounded like an ELK.
2:56 I've had this happen once. Fortunately, I did the same as shown in the video. Thought it was funny to share as I'm sure some people can relate.

They really nail it lol
I've had, "Car sounds like a goose." It was a Dodge Journey and every time you depressed the brake pedal, the rear brakes made that sound. It turned out the rear brakes had been replaced recently, but no lubricant was used.
The reason why I watch this channel. 😂

I think these videos just show how resilient cars and trucks can be. No oil change for 41k miles and the customer brought it in only cause of worn pads? Random spit-n-glue repairs and yet still driveable? Makes me feel a little better about being late on some of my maintenance.
Lawn mowers are already ready being sold as 'no oil changes ever needed'. I foreee some of the cheaper cars from select manufacturers following suit soon in the coming years.

@@Glitch1246 Not only BMW, in Europe, practically every single car in the past 10 years says the transmission oil doesn't have to be changed...
"Vape interfered with immobilizer". Around ten years ago I had a far more embarrassing case. My car's anti-theft "had an affair" with the burglar security of a church in a remote village. Each time I pressed the unlock button on my keyfob theirs would go on red alert, and then, in a few seconds, it would lock my car. In the end, I persuaded the deacon to turn off theirs completely, or I'd be stuck there with the saints forever.
guess it was so you could move you car out of range?
Many Japanese and USA cars use the same frequency for the keyfob as burglar alarms and other short range wireless equipment, so this can often happen. Keyfobs of European cars more often transmit about 0,5 MHz above the rest of the gadgets (whilst still remaining in the authorised range for licence free devices)
One of my old neighbors had a garage door opener that was on the same frequency as mine. Sometimes when I pressed mine his would go up as well😂. Oddly his didn't work on mine. He opted to change his out since it was older anyway
Ford had and maybe still does have it. But if you had more then 1 key on the keyring the PATS system wouldn't allow the car to start.
A common thing we saw in the dealership was cars that would not crank over; turn the ignition key and nothing happened. After two or three that we spent a couple hours to realize the cheap anti theft system another dealer had installed had burned out and no circuit from key to starter solenoid.
As a clarification: We were a rural dealership but we worked on most anything. A dealer closer to the city would install a simple anti theft device; several wires, most of which did nothing, but two were used to bypass the wire from ignition switch to solenoid, there was a little slot under the dash that you’d slip a circuit board into that closed the circuit. Cost about $5 for the kit and maybe half an hour labor to install. Dealer installed it on all their new cars and tried to sell the customer the anti theft kit for about $200. If they bought it, they got handed the circuit board with a holder that connected it to a key ring. If they didn’t buy it, they’re just put the card in and break the holder off. Thing was small and flat, put just at the edge under the dashboard, mostly out of sight. After running into a couple of these, when we got a no crank issue, that was the first thing we looked for. 9 times out of 10, that circuit card burning out was the issue. Remove the wiring, repair the cut wire…good to go.

I like the last one. I worked in a machine shop and they needed to remove a feed screw from the machine so they cut a hole in the metal siding to get the eight foot screw out of the machine
We've taken part of an exterior wall down to install machines. (Too big to fit through any doors)
@@DavidD-qr2vn We sometimes have to cut open the roof at my work to get new machines in. There has even been cases where they used a helicopter to lift it in when a crane can't reach far enough.
I knew a guy who opened his own machine shop. He learned a lot about the shop he worked in. He had his own building built and made sure it had a overhead crane that could lift and move any piece of machinery. He had a section on one end of the building that was about a third of the size of the main shop area that was for delivery and maintenance. A full-sized flatbed trailer or box trailer could be backed into a fully enclosed docking area and the load was level with the docking platform and the overhead crane had full access to the cargo. If a piece of equipment or machine needed repairs and maintenance, it was moved to the docking area, so the maintenance crews had full access and more than enough room to do their job. There were two sections of the docking area that were set up for universal hookups to operate and test all of the equipment. The best part was the areas were safer and out of the way of the shop workers. There was more than enough room to allow deliveries in and out of the shop, as well as temporary cargo storage without affecting the maintenance and shop operations. In a way, it was like two buildings without a dividing wall. The only time the maintenance crews are in the actual shop area is to diagnose and test before and after the machinery/equipment is serviced/repaired.

1:19 Converters from 12V to 5V (used for charging a lot of gadgets, powering dashcams) work by converting the DC into a high frequency AC signal - but poor design of the electronics can make it generate all sorts of radio interference and interfere with things like immobilisers that also use radio frequencies to work. Sometimes I drive past other vehicles and my FM radio reception is wiped out by interference from whatever is in them..
Yeah I was just coming to say it sounds like a really cheap power supply for that charger.
Some do, some will be simple linear convertors but they are quite inefficient as basically they convert the unwanted volts into heat, so generally need a heatsink. A 7805 is a common 5V linear regulator. They produce little to no electrical noise.
Though naturally most will be switching convertors as they are more efficient, but naturally the cheaper ones won't be very well designed and will put out a fair amount of electrical noise (we have LED lights at work that can affect radio reception).
On a technical level those devices are also illegal as I understand. Since they are unauthorized broadcasters. I wonder if anyone has ever gotten in trouble for a shitty charger causing interference. XD
On those Clio the old port is right next when the charger was plug.
It has interfered with the CAN bus
why would it convert dc to ac and then back to dc?
Could you imagine the the vacuum being pulled on a 3.6L V6 at 40,000 rpm? It must have felt like they were towing a small house.
If the inside of your car smells to the point where you think an air freshener in the cabin air filter is a solution, it is time to get the inside of your car cleaned. Those stupid hanging things don't fix odors, they only cover them up.
My god people are disgusting.
Skin cells and hand oils everywhere
Those air fresheners are most likely toxic chemicals. My BIL takes warfarin for a heart condition. Warfarin is the main chemical in rat poison.
Also, what kind of crappy engine air filter did he have that allowed air freshener schmutz to pass through it?
It's actually not the absolute worst thing if they had done it correctly. We solved a recurring squirrel infestation in an Avalon once by soaking the cabin filter in peppermint oil. Of course, we didn't put any extra physical parts in. But a dirty cabin filter often has a pound of leaves and whatnot on the upside, so a Little Trees wouldn't mess with anything.
This is true of anything, car, house, room, person, if you feel the need to try to cover a smell how about just not having a smell in the first place? I'm not even that clean of a person but I have never had any smells and have never used any sort of nose destroying stomach churning 'air freshening'.

To be fair, having the fan clutch blow up on your BMW sure beats having to break the nut loose on the fan since it’s a pain. You don’t have to break the nut loose and you have a reason to get an electric fan? That’s a win in my book
almost true, but I'm sure there's enough fan clutch left to prevent you from getting the waterpump bolts, or removing it without pulling the radiator because Murphy
Id recommend an electric fan on a switch. I had no fan blades left on the stock fan clutch for years on my e36 until the ac fan died and i had to replace the stock fan blades. Engine mounts were shot and the fan leaned back on the first pull and killed itself and the shroud and the rad. Ditch the ticking time bomb of a fan clutch and slap and electric fan on a switch in there with an aluminum rad and your set. I even replaced my bleeder screw with a brass bleeder screw because those strip out all the time. Same with the caps on the expansion tanks

Talking about towing vehicles in gear and damaging the transmission/engine, we have multiple unit diesel trains here which all have the same autocoupler and are electrically compatible. That's great, however these units range from 75mph local units to 90mph and 100mph "regional express" units and in some parts of the UK might be expected to work together fairly frequently. It's not been unheard of for a driver to be in the cab of a higher speed unit and forget that a lower speed one is on the back and there has been times where a 75mph unit has been taken to 90mph with expected results.

I have aftermarket axles in one of my big block cars and fortunately they have screw in studs. I had to back them all out to clear the wall in my garage….
I did that pulling a rear axle on a 1967 Plymouth Valiant I owned in the early 1980s. Except that it was Michigan. In January. And I was working in the driveway with temperatures in the single digits. Instead of a wall it was a frozen snow bank. It took me a bit to chisel out the ice/snow enough to get the axle out!
Ok you got me on the last one, I was like he's not gonna weld that axle back together right? See, all these videos and I expect shenanigans by customers like that now. LOL
I have absolutely done that before, not left myself enough room to pull the half shafts out. Unfortunately in my case it was a brick wall so I just had to put everything back together and move the car further out of the garage
Love these, thanks!
I was a mechanic and, thankfully, I never had anything obstruct an axle removal.
Sadly, phone video didn't exist when I wrenched on cars so all the similar experiences I have remain locked in my memories 😢
When I saw the car in the first, clip, it immediately reminded me of the cars and trucks that were loaded to the hilt by families who moved out West during the Great Depression.
Just about all of these are absolutely bonkers, except the last one! That was unexpected as I thought the wall would've been concrete!
2:56 Haven't done that, but did have to make an "access hatch" in a wall to change the filter on an air handling unit that was drywalled into place by someone who didn't check to see how much room was required to open it!
The fan clutch exploding like that is a known issue on e46 bmws, had mine blow while driving, took out the rad and ripped up the heat shield stuff on the roof.
Enjoyed the halfshaft clip at the end 😂 that's problem solving! 😊
Lmao the sound descriptions are so spot on.
I was gonna say, "There's no way that dude is going to cut through a driveshaft with a buzzsaw!" 😂😂😂
3:04 he totally had us in the first half 😂
Ha! Easier to repair that wall than do the work twice...I love it!!
