0:00 Intro
0:05 The truck needed a new fuel pump as well so that's why a bunch of the cow manure had to be cleaned, so the fuel tank could be dropped to replace the fuel tank.
0:25 The shop performed the emissions test.
0:32 The technician replaced the battery.
0:41 O-ring was not installed and the retaining clip was not installed on the fuel line, which caused the fuel line to leak.
0:52 Dog food left by a squirrel or mouse behind the trim panel.
1:04 The technician isn't quite sure why the customer had this installed, but this could be pretty bad if the customer were to get in an accident.
1:10 No extra info. (Ford Fusion - Europe model).
1:21 The technician said the vehicle was a Chevrolet (did not mention the model).
1:32 The technician said the local quick lube left this on the oil filter when they installed it. Luckily the paper didn't fall apart and got into the engine.
1:43 No extra info.
1:50 The technician recommended upper and lower ball joints as the other ones were about to break. The shop also had a used tire for the customer to save them some money. The customer thought they were trying to scam him so he drove away (from what I was told).
1:58 That's a first!
2:06 Not sure who would do this, especially to a newer vehicle but to each their own.
2:15 The customer bought the vehicle like this a week prior.
2:24 Very common issue but surprisingly the customer didn't notice this before purchasing the vehicle.
2:37 The customer had apparently thought this would be goodwill/warranted as the noise has been there since 2004.
2:47 The van was used for car detailing and had a water tank in the back. As mentioned the customer never mentioned anything about the smell which the mechanic was pretty surprised about.
3:02 "It’s a 1960 Amphicar made in Germany, it is an amphibious car, with 2 propellers in the back. The rudders are aftermarket, otherwise, everything else is stock. It has two transmissions, one which is a 4-speed manual transmission, and the other which is a simple forward & reverse transmission for the propellers. It has a 43 horsepower, 4-cylinder triumph engine (British built)."

The tech that removed all the manure before fixing the car is the real hero here.

They call that sh*t work on Cold War Motors. 👍👍🇨🇦
And you think you're job stinks!
Loved that we finally had a 'customer drove it away' caught on camera. Ive said before, most people dont understand cars so you can forgive them for being a bit sceptical when garages say more work needs to be done/more money. But at the same time, when your wheels are flat, not moving and car is dragging on the floor, then its probably right to just trust the mechanic in that instance
And eventually police stops them for having an unsafe to drive vehicle
@@Seb-Storm So true.
@@Seb-StormWhere does that happen?
This is why I love my current repair shop they have been more than happy to show me what is going wrong rather than just give me a print out alone.

Leaving the "3 Keys to a Successful Oil Change" guide somehow IN the oil filter is such an absolutely perfect example of irony.
And obviously you cover a car in CARpet. What else?

@@BobBassheadbeat me to it 😂😂😂😂😂😂
It's a perfect example of how those quick oil change places have an occasional "mechanic" who has absolutely no idea what he's doing. Many years ago, I was at a VW dealership and overheard mechanics discussing a victim of one of those places. Instead of filling the engine with oil, they poured oil in a cover for the bell housing, ruining the clutch and who knows what else.
I can’t even fathom in a million trillion years the guy thinking that metal plate blocking the airbag was safer than the airbag being replaced in the recall 1:05
Not to mention the giant bolts that would impale him lol
@@jonathanswoboda and that would be from hitting your face on the steering wheel.
How right you are. I have set off many a scrap airbag, and having witnessed the amount of force they generate, Mr metal plate would have had his stupid head torn apart if the airbag was to deploy.
When I say that too, I was scratching my head as well like crazy. Whatever hair that was left on my balding head is now gone.
Especially when the recall was for the passenger side 😂
1:59 The customer made a typo when he took the car in to the body shop for a custom spray job... He wrote "mat" instead of "matte".
The body shop obliged.

A guy close to me has one of the amphi-cars. He takes it in the river and gives people rides all the time. It's super cool. We need more cool inventions like that.
I think LBJ had a car like that.
@@highdesertutah He did and so did my best friend. Sadly my friends car was rusty enough to not be watertight.
Best car on the lake, and the fastest boat on the highway.
Sadly I think there are probably boats on a trailer behind a truck going faster down the highway the an Amphi-car can go, but your comment still made me laugh.
@@highdesertutahHe would also pull pranks on people who rode in the car with him. He would start driving towards water and say that the brakes weren't working. Then he would laugh as the other passengers panicked before realizing the car was amphibious.

As someone who's dealt with a rusted dipstick tube I feel that person's pain
I've never seen a rusted dip tube. Must be a rust belt thing.
After my belt tensioner went out and started making a horrible metal on metal noise I immediately shut off my truck to check the oil only to find the stick bone dry. I thought the worst, even added extra oil in the crankcase to no avail. Only after finding out the noise was the tensioner and not the engine I looked more into why I had no oil, the dipstick tube rusted so much the dipstick was going straight thru 😭
Makes me glad that I live in Oklahoma, not nearly as much salt in the winter.
'A rusted dipstick tube' - that sounds like an euphemism...! 😄

Along with the Amphicar was the Schwimmwagen. Built by Volkswagen for the German Army in WWII, it was an amphibious light utility truck. It had four-wheel drive, a hinged propeller housing at the rear, and when in boat mode, the front wheels acted as the rudders, so it steered with the driver's wheel.
That's how you steer an Amphicar- the front wheels are its rudders.
i want one of those so bad. they look so damn cool
There was a company that used to do tours (might still do, not sure) along the river thames that used ducks from WW2 instead of traditional boats
I've driven an Amphicar, they drive just as well as you think a boat would. Still speaks to my inner child. 🔥😈🔥
Used to see them now and then, but they're definitely getting rarer.
I was in my teens in '67, when the last Amphi-cars were produced. They were originally $2750, but were being sold off for $2500, due to the damn government BS on '68 cars. Now, in good shape, they're $40,000. Most of them sunk, and were never intended for salt water use.
Disney Springs in Florida have them for rides.
what happens to any unfortunate soul who is accidently run over?
do they turn into sushi becsuse of the propeller?
@@void_walker2304 ---The propellers are controlled independently, and are normally turned off, unless needed for water. They are a type of nylon-plastic, not metal. A dealer told me about having bought ten as replacements, but never sold any.

I'm reminded of Wonko the Sane from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy books, and especially the event that made him move outside the asylum.
The aribag recall one is amazing. Talk about multiplying your risk of dying in a collision by about 10x with that contraption. Not sure which airbag recall it is for, there is the Takata one that does have a decent amount of fatalities, and then there is the newer one that only has a couple of fatalities and is still a little unclear. Either way though, that sheet metal is going to create a marvelous shrapnel field when that airbag goes off.
Yeah dying is one thing but being maimed by your own contraption....sheesh
I still have my Takata airbag haha. Keeping it for sentimental reasons :)
My state was cancelling registration on cars on recall list unless it was done.
That was a hilarious "fix" imo lolol #ineedsleep
I don't think an airbag has enough power to bloe through that metal plate...
I was waiting for the closing comment on the Amphicar: "Customer refused repairs and rowed his car away down the river."

I loved the carpeted car, and it reminded me of the time my sister painted her car with a roller.
Know someone who did that. Painted his car with emulsion. What a complete twat!
In the summer of 1973 I was working afternoon shift at a gas station. I was supposed to be painting the walls when a buddy suggested painting my dad's 1967 F100. We roller painted it, and when I went to pick him up at the mill he walked right past it! It looked good for a week and then boro oiled our street.
I've seen a guy brush paint his car

"Dip stick tube has rusted through". Well, that's new. Never heard that before. These videos never cease to amaze me.
When I was a kid, there was a guy near me who used to drive a VW Beetle, that was covered in shag carpet. I couldn't help but think, what happens in the rain? It must soak up a literal ton of water. I know that little air-cooled flat four wasn't up to that!
Maybe once the floor pan rusts out that shaves off some weight and allows for rapid draining.
Scotchguard.
🤣 at least this guy appears to have covered his car in black astroturf
Good one dude 👍
It's unbelievable how people leave so much rubbish in their vehicles 🤢🤮 did laugh at the presumably dog biscuits behind the B post trim 🤣🤣 have a great week my friend 👍
I had to back up for a second look at that one. I thought it was goldfish crackers at first, and somebody’s little kid was either trying to feed the car or saving them for later 😂
It could have been mice. I once opened a cupboard in my house to find it full of dried dog food, which had been disappearing from his bowl for weeks. Mice are industrious little buggers!
Wow! Two amphibious cars in one video; one sunken and the other sea worthy. 😉
Those little amphibious cars, are pretty neat to see in the water.
That belt one caught me off guard. I thought it was going to be something dumb like it was wrapped around something.

Hyundai has a whole TSB about removing the plastic filter housing plug from the middle of the filter cartridge before installing the filter. Apparently, sometimes that plug will fall into the middle of the filter while in the packaging. If it's not caught and you install the filter, say goodbye to the engine. I guess it happened enough times that they made a TSB about it.
@@MidnightVette74 I wonder why they didn't just change the packaging to avoid people inadvertently cooking engines once said problem was discovered?
The stupidity of some people is staggering.
Love the mobile trash cans.
An amphicar was the favorite car of LBJ. He would drive people around in it who did not know it would float and scare them as he drove into the lake.
That sounds like peak LBJ.
Did he show them Jumbo while doing it?
I've wanted an amphibicar since I was a kid!
When I was a teen in the 80s a guy in my hometown used to cruise around in an amphicar every summer. Used to see him around town all the time. Never saw him go into water though.
These videos are just a nice reminder that while my car would be considered dirty on the inside, its NO WHERE NEAR the level some people let them get to.
Maybe I should ease off my wife for spilling milk in the passenger seat, leaving empty straw wrappers in the cupholders, and leaving folders and books in the floorboard (I prefer my car to be completely empty except spare fluids and a toolkit).

DUDE THAT LAST THING WAS TOTALLY AWESOME!!!
I remember going on the river in my dad's Amphicar when I was a very young boy. It was red with white interior. It was so exciting driving to the river and and down the ramp into the water and then boating along.
And the 4th key to a good oil change- Remove the sticker from the filter😁
What do you think ?? The kids first day ??
1st key do it yourself and if you can't don't bring it to jiffy lube.
These are always crazy but this is a particularly egregious compilation of insanity, I still don't understand how these people survive day to day. I'll fully acknowledge I have my own issues, but some of this stuff just feels impossible, yet I have no doubts it's all real.

Heck yeah! That Amphicar is beautiful 👌👌👌
The quick lube oil filter is choice.
It certainly is hard to get good help these decades.
Its said that truth is stranger than fiction because fiction has to be believable. These rolled-ins are incredible! thanks
oil change clip got me good.
I do my own oil changes, after a Dealership Technician put the wrong oil in my old Tundra, ultimately leading to the car being totaled out due to the engine damage.
The dealership denied it was their guy, but the oil filter still had the sticker on it with their logo.
Hehe, the Amphicar is nuts! We saw one or two more than 50 yrs ago, when my dad was stationed in Berlin as an English Army doctor.
The steel plate over the airbag just made it a thousand times more dangerous in a crash because of the bolts and the steel plate would certainly go flying into their face if the airbag went off. Some people are stupid beyond saving.
Amphi-car was totally cool.
I once saw someone drive their amphicar directly in the water from a boat ramp while I was moving boats for work on the St. Lawrence river. Not knowing those existed at the time I was quite surprised.
1:05 when the takata airbags got you spooked.
As I remember, the Amphicar sold for somewhere between $1000 & $1500. Brings to mind the King car, a kit car for around $700.
0:25 that car would fail the emissions test without even starting the engine
The Amphicar was a must see at the Yearly car show.

I went offroading with a friend in his truck one evening at a construction site. While we were doing a 4 wheel drift across a large area he mentioned that the mud didn't feel right. He took his truck to the shop a week or so later, and they said that there was a lot of concrete dried to the bottom of the truck... At least it smelled better then that truck.

The only time I ever seen a dipstick tube rot out was from the vehicle sitting for decades in the weeds, usually when it's been flooded.
Come to Canada. Happens a lot here even to vehicles still daily driving. It's from all the road salt used during the winter. It's hell on our vehicles here. Every nut and bolt seized on and premature rusting everywhere
@@SnowPiercer1975 usually it's the underside, rockers or floor pans that get rotted out by the salt. I live in Illinois, USA we do get snow and have road salt. Dipstick tube though I just never seen it rot away but I only had a few vehicles in my time. My daily driver has front wheel drive and the dipstick is on the front so probably the plastic shield on the bottom kept it from rusting. I can always ask mechanic if he's seen them rot out.
@@VintageCars999 I've replaced oil pans, dipstick tubes, gas tanks and filler tubes etc due to rust. It's a bit better with newer vehicles. Most now have aluminum oil pans and galvanized rocker panels and rust resistant coating on underbody. It atleast slows the damage done due to salt
@@SnowPiercer1975 I've never had an oil pan rust out, but I had it happen to a power steering hard line. I also once had corrosion pinholes form in an electric fuel pump.

These vids really make a good case supporting mandatory license suspensions/repos for people who refuse repairs or fail inspections.
If I owned a shop I would be sending out a refuse/fail list to all the traffic cops.
Not surprising that car companies increasingly demand only qualified technicians even change oil.
These people don't deserve to own a vehicle, let alone share the road with people who responsibly do.
Here in Florida, a lot of lawn guys with tandem axle utility trailers roll around with only one axle carrying the load because the tires/rims were removed. Sometimes the whole axle is gone and the remaining axle is carrying a full load of mowers and equipment. I'm sure there's some popular rumor that you'll get better fuel economy by removing one of the axles. That has to get busted.
Cops need to pull those lawn guys over and issue a hefty ticket for an unsafe trailer. 1st ticket can be refunded IF they get if fixed and the cop is satisfied that everything is in order. 2nd ticket gets the same fine but, also impoundment and no refund. But, it still has to be repaired and inspected.

For the cow manure thing, I've seen detailers use liquid CO2/dry ice to freeze away dirt without having left over residue/sludgy cleanup. I wonder if a case like this would work faster or slower as freezing the cow poop should just allow it to chip and fall away. Or just grab a wet wipe and enjoy some sloppy poop wrestling with car parts nobody will ever see again.

I can understand being paranoid about the airbag, they are scary as hell when they go off. But I think that they should have pointed the bolts in the other direction...
Being that close to your heart, brain, and lungs, wouldn't make a difference.
Shrapnel is shrapnel.
@@Jeff.78 While potentially true enough, you should consider the possibility that the plate holds together and the steering wheel break instead. In either case, I would rather get hit in the face with a flat plate than get hit in the face with a plate covered in spikes.
