Seen old footage of Marilyn's funeral 60 years ago & this cemetery has certainly changed since then with add-ons & the skyscrapers in the background tho the chapel looks the same. That would have been a sad day when Marilyn died. Also on Peter Falk's grave, 'Just one more thing' should have been on his stone.

I met Theodore Bickel around 1998. He was performing in Fiddler On The Roof in San Francisco while I was performing in the cast of the Phantom of the Opera. My show ran 5 years during which time I met Betty Garrett and John Travolta. Betty Garrett's son was married to one of our cast members and John Travolta came to see our show because he was being considered for the role of the Phantom in the movie. His wife, Kelly Preston, was with him. You really found a plethora of famous gravesites. Good job!💕🙂

Back in the early '90's, I read in a magazine, or something, where a woman drove out to Westwood Village Cemetery one day. After finding Marilyns grave, she said that she, "laid down along side her grave and said her name three times out loud ... Marilyn,,, Marilyn,,, Marilyn", at which time, the ground beneath her began to rumble and shake, as if Marilyn was responding to her name being said. Funny, because, Marilyn isn't even in the ground, but is in the wall of an outdoor, open mausoleum/crypt, on the 2nd tier from the bottom. She must've been laying on Burt Lancaster or Mel Torme and irritating them, by calling them Marilyn. We were out at Westwood back in 2002 or 2004, etc, and found the cemetery very quiet and empty, which surprised me; considering how many celebrities are buried there. Finding the cemetery was tough though, since it's surrounded by buildings.

We visited Westwood Cemetery years ago. One of the workers told us they have to replace the front of Marilyn Monroe’s crypt at times as it is discolored from all the hands touching it. I left a dime in the crack of Dean Martin’s crypt. I wanted to see his more than any other’s. I really liked watching him on tv. I thought he was “swav” and a great partner with Jerry Lewis. He suffered greatly with the loss of his son, Dino, who died tragically when the jet he was flying crashed.

Been there many times. I was interesting to get a bit more information about so many of the folks laid to rest at this location.
It is such a comparatively small cemetery to those in the LA basin. Though I’d venture to say more persons of well known status within its bounds than any other cemetery location.
Funny story about the fellow above Marilyn. Hugh had always wanted to be next to her. I am surprised that Joe D. Didn’t keep his place above her though. It is said that he always loved her. It is said that She and Joe spent their wedding night at a hotel in Paso Robles, CA. On their way back to LA from SF.
A side story of the Jolson grave site. A co-worker years ago, shared he once worked at the cemetery where Jolson is at. That the Jolson grave was able to be lowered into an underground chamber in the evenings. Sometimes the mechanism would ‘stick’ and they’d get called out “Jolson is stuck again” go deal with it.
    Keep up the good work.

What did you do before we had cell phone? You actually asked someone that spoke English! And lived in that neighborhood! Road maps were a common practice

Only bad thing about Hillside Memorial Park is don’t go there on a Saturday, the cemetery is traditionally Jewish and with Saturday being the Jewish Religions Day of the Sabbath, no one is allowed in there as I have seen it closed up driving by there on the 405 Freeway as it can be easily seen from there. I also found out online that Moe Howard’s daughter is now next to him in a crypt right beside. Westwood is where you can find the highest number of past Hollywood Stars and Celebrities as the place is very small and concentrated together there. I have even found out that people who work in the office buildings around there, most don’t even know this cemetery/memorial park is there, as it most likely is very hidden away from the public view.
I remember Richard Basehart doing a speech at the closing ceremonies of the 1984 Olympics when they were in Los Angeles and a short time later after they were done, he passed away. I really liked Bettie Page and I have a wall picture of her too, she was the forerunner of things that we have today in society.

Another interesting video, but I do have one question. Why is George C Scott in a unmarked grave? Didn't he have any family, children, grandchildren? You would think someone would have put up a marker. I find that incredibly sad that no one did, not even a friend that would have thought to.

He needs to go to Hollywood Graveyard and study up on the various types of graves, if he doesn’t know. Otherwise he did a great video. Author Dark can really give him some insight of various types of graves.

I don't watch other people's graveyard videos as I don't want any of it influencing what I do.
