I liked this one. In 1980 my Grandmother told my sister and i that the Dslton's were our 4th cousins. My Grandmother was 98 years old at that time. She had some good stories about crossing the country by wagon. Great job. Janie
Thank you for keeping my families history alive!!!!
My great grandmother was a Dalton and 1st cousins with the boys from the Dalton Gang...would love to hook up and connect family trees...
Wow 😳 bet u have some great stories
Thorough research pays off! Kudos, Jeff, for your persistence, patience, and tenacity. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I grew up in Turlock and currently reside not too far from Livingston. Ive passed the spot where Bill Dalton was buried numerous times since I was a little boy. Thank you Jeff for the history lesson of the Dalton Gang and the impact they had in Livingston and Turlock Community. I love your channel and looking forward to watching more in the future.
Amazing story Jeff, and so connected to your relatives nearby. I have family nearby in Hickman, CA that I visited as a boy each summer for a week with my 3 sisters. We had lots of fun on his 350 acre peach farm. My cousin lives there now and grows amonds, no L in the word because they beat the L out of the tree to get them down! Thanks for your research.
Pure CLASS!! "The History Channel" could NOT have done better.
Thanks so much for the glowing review!
Just like yo mama
That is admittedly a low bar :)
I love outlaw histories and for sure the Daltons are one of them. Good job guys for the hard work in putting all that inf together.
Absolutely excellent. Watching while I slowly remove my carpet, pad and tac strips from my stairs to the first floor. Keep them coming.
Ms. Sarah, thank you as well for your dedication, efforts, driving, accompanying Jeff. I enjoy your own special humor and personality. You had a nice balance to Jeff and History Hunters. 😀👍🏻😎
👍🏻😎👍🏻😎🙏🏻✝️🇺🇸🙏🏻✝️🇺🇸.
Thank you! We appreciate you acknowledging our work while you work! LOL
Love the "But Get Over It" at the beginning. LOL! Great episode. Thanks again Jeff and Sarah.
Glad you enjoyed it!!! Thanks, Alan!
Another great episode, Jeff! You and Sarah do an excellent job.
Wow, thank you, Ricky!
Amazing piece of American Western History. So much time and effort went into this video, I am very appreciative of your dedication to the American Western History. Very informative. I did not know this about "Bill Dalton", that he was buried twice. I am familiar with the Dalton gang and their place in History. Once again, thank you Jeff and Sarah.....
After watching this, I now want to read a book on the Dalton! Found my old comment, can't believe it's been 3 years since I last watch this video, I can still remember the guy probing the grave and found Bill Dalton unmarked grave. 🙂
I’m from Los Banos, Ca and I’m glad to hear history near my city
Another great video! I have always been intrigued with the "Old West." I was born in 1959 and my mother told me when I was 20 that I was born 100 years to late! 🤠👍
i am amazed at the research you put into your videos jeff.all of sarah and your time that is spent per episode is astounding.i would have to say that truly history hunters is by far the best on you tube.great work on each and every video.
Wow, thank you! We really appreciate your very generous compliments. We try to do our best, never quite attaining the level of perfection we strive for on a shoestring budget.
Sorry to hear about your friend Joe. That's why I'm watching this now. God bless.
This was really interesting. don't much about the Daltons, but who'd have thought that a famous in infamous outlaw from the old west would be buried in Turlock in an unmarked grave. I wonder how many people that live there know that. Or people that visit the cemetary know that. Great episode.
The Daltons used to race horses on a track in Clovis...it is rumored that Littleton Dalton was a member of the California Assembly and that Emmet Dalton used to lecture on not going on the Owlhoot trail...love your posts Jeff!
HH pictures are awesome Like taking us back in time Thanks Jeff
Glad you enjoyed it, Rusty! Thanks so much!
This is why I keep subscribing. Perfectly done. Thanks for the research, the production, and the sharing. You are the only channel on my CZcams list that I have notification turned ' on' for. Although I know you come on Sunday mornings.. Thank you Jeff for all that you do.
P.S. you have a beautiful co-host...
I stumbled onto your channel today. You have taken me on virtual trips down history lane. I am disabled and retired from driving semi. There are so many places I would pass near, but sadly never gotten to visit because of duty and inability to get a semi in close enough. Thank you especially in this time we're all in with COVID-19. I hope you and your family are well.
Thank you, James! We really appreciate you watching and reaching out. It's sad that you couldn't see the sites along the way. I hope that my videos can make up for that in some small way! We are well and pray you stay safe as well!
Came back to watch this after seeing the latest one with the rocketeer and your grandparents. I'm having an history hunters binge, must be on my 7th in a row today lol. Much appreciated you two
Very special to know you like our videos and visits to historical places! Thank you ScoopDogg!
@@jbenziggy Because I live in Yorkshire England your videos are the next best thing to me moving to America. The Gold rush era is my fave topic :)
Very interesting, I sometimes forget I'm watching this on youtube. You and Sarah got a great sense of humor even on serious subject. 🙂
Thanks. This is an early one so there’s a lot I would have done differently. I’m happy that you like our videos!
Really cool that you share your family history in the story.. As usual, great video.
I was born in Meade Kansas in 1936... This is the town that the Dalton's Gang had their hideout. They made an underground tunnel from their barn to the house, where they could hide . My family moved from Meade , Ks in 1943, to Livingston , California. We rented a house (that had originally been a gas station) from Joe Ulrich's parents. It was years later after I had grown up, that the memories of touring the Old Dalton Gang's Hideout and Museum , stirred up my interest in the history of The Dalton Gang. Reading up on different stories I found out that Bob Dalton had married Jayne Blivin from Livingston , California. And that they had lived in this big old two story house of the Ulrich's, right next door where I had lived as a little girl. In fact Bob Dalton was buried in the yard of that home, and in later years his body was moved to the Cemetery in Turlock, California. I agree with Roy G. Dodd.. this video was done with Pure Class...
Bill Dalton was buried in Turlock, Cal not Bob Dalton. Bob is buried in Coffeyville, KS Darlene
I really enjoyed the documentary tonight at the Turlock Historical Society meeting. My dad had a True West magazine many years ago that tackled the same subject but I'd forgotten many details. I honestly didn't know the scope of their involvement in the Central Valley. Great work!
Im finally catching up with some of your older, Thank God, because there Awesome. Yes as I've come accustom to your thorough hunt for history, but come on you two are magical, it just reminds me of my wife and I. When you have people like yourself out there history can be informative, yes I'll say it, Fun! Thanks so much.
Wow, thank you very much, Peter, for that very gracious feedback to our channel! We are honored that you so highly think of us! We appreciate your very nice words! More videos are in the works!
This is crazy. I grew up in Ballico CA., Went to Livingston High, lived in Turlock for years, I worked at that cemetary on W. Main and now I live 1/4 mile from the two banks in Coffeyville KS.
Good video! My Grandfather, Great and 2xGreat Grandparents are buried at Turlock Memorial also. They named and lived on Brier Rd. [my last name] starting in 1906. Easternmost house on the South side of the Road.
I’m glad I stumbled across this channel. I’ve live in Ceres, my grandma is from Livingston and her parents also, my great grandparents that I did get a chance to know. They had a ranch out on west side blvd right by the store. They are the Boyd’s. And I now can’t stop watching you’re videos thank you for making them
Thanks for watching!
What A great documentary about my kin. Dalton brothers were 1 cousins to my great grandfather. Great job. I would like to say that the Daltons were more notable for their bank robberies then trains. Great job Larned somethings l didn't know thanks for the episode
Awesome piece of detailed history....I'm stuck in Lodi it literally hits home. I went down the street on south school street n checked out that old victorian that his boy moved to. Gave me goosebumps
I had no idea so many Outlaws are/were from the central California valley. Super interesting.
I share your constant comments about the apparent lack of appreciation for our historic buildings, sites, etc., That they city, county, state officials turn a blind eye to the historic buildings falling down, sites ignored. There should be a budget for preservation within every government financial plan.
LIVINGSTON IS MY HOMETOWN!! And oh my there is so much history that is kept away! NICE VIDEO!!!
So much important history and today people just walk on by the locations where these historical figures once walked and to think your actually connected. Fascinating stories.
Awesome History I'm from Texas thank you brother great true story God bless you
Thanks for watching, Joseph!
Thank you for the effort and the time the team invested making this excellent historical research and video production.
Many thanks! I'm happy you like it Marco!
Greatest couple, in American history travel team, so super great, ever. OMG!!
Wow that's a mighty high praise! Thanks so much! We will try to live up to your compliment!
You Jeff and your gorgeous girlfriend Sarah are amazing. The Dalton's were famous out laws of the 1890s especially. In 1964 I met an 85 year old man my dad had hired for ranch work on our place. The gentleman told me all about his knowing the Younger brothers and about Bob Dalton. He tried to join their gangs when he was 15 years old!
Thanks for these videos. I’m learning a whole new history about my area.
Glad to hear it!
I was born in Coffeyville! so this was neat to watch and I have been to the Dalton museum when I w as a kid, but I live in the Bay Area since I was 6.
I enjoying something like this Jt is very interested to get information that either read or heard about and I'm glad I run across this vlog I've also seeing your vlog inthe past and love each of them
awesome thanks for sharing
Just stumbled on you channel. Absolutely love it ..... I have a passion for history and it’s a double win as I’m just as crazy about old movies .... keep up the great work !!
Excellent. The most informative video on the Dalton's I have ever seen. It is a little sad to see how places change over time, but was great to be there.
I live just 16 miles from Pooleville. There are several legends surrounding Bill's tracking and death, including that there were two competing posses after the reward money, and one posse got the other drunk so that they couldn't ride out in pursuit! There is an historical marker in Pooleville (known as "Elk" in those days) privately placed by one of the descendants of the US Deputy Marshall that put a bullet into Bill. Supposedly the alert was raised because Bill's wife was shopping in Ardmore and passed a bank note drawn on the Longview (TX) bank which they had robbed, but it was noticed that the note was not signed by the manager, as bank notes were in those days (each major bank would provide their own notes drawn against cash held - sort of like a debit card of the day). The shop keeper held up putting the purchased goods together and when the questionable bank note was brought to the attention of the local law enforcement, the chase began! Apparently there was also some alcohol being imported an awaiting being picked up at the train station, and in those days IT (Indian Territory) was "dry", so that also raised suspicions (although it also raises the question of how one posse got the other drunk!). Allegedly after the killing and on the way back to Ardmore, the posse paused to pour cold water over the body en route - it being a hot day and nasty things were starting to happen - as Bill's wife happened upon the group and looked in and saw her husband lying dead.
Lots of myths, I'm sure, but still told in this neck of the woods!!
Thanks for the video! :)
What an absolutley awesome video.. thank you
Been watching u for years but this one I missed.... bad ass history.. I would of been an outlaw back then too
Awesome history lesson of my hometown.
Hello Jeff, along with your research and video of Bill Dalton.
A new book has been published .
' the Last Outlaws. The Desperate Final Days of the Dalton Gang " , Tom Clavin.
Picked it up in the library very enjoyable read.
Great! Do they mention Bill very much?
My parents grew up in the Dalton house. There were 2 Dalton brothers buried between the palm trees in front of the house. Both were exhumed, 1 buried in Turlock, CA and 1 buried in Atwater, CA as I understand it. Lots of history with Daltons and Livingston.
There was only Bill Dalton buried in that front yard.
Joe Ulrich was my uncle who you interviewed in this story. 😊
This story is so Cool..Loved It..
This was great...loved it!!!
Wally Weener thank you! This is one of my oldies. Lol
this is very interesting . just loved this episode
Professional, solid excellence...
Love this thank you
You are most welcome! Glad you liked it and hope you learned a bit more about old Bill Dalton!
Thanks for these video great story
Our pleasure!
Awesome find!
I found your channel about six months ago, and in addition to the new videos I've been enjoying several of your older videos. I must say that I like your own narration better than the voice-overs by the other actor.
Also, interesting side note... You mentioned that you never knew your father's father. My dad's father died in 1962, six weeks after I was born. I've heard many stories about Gramps, and often wished I could have known him.
Great job Jeff. Very interesting!
Thank you! More history hunts will be coming up!
Jeff, what a great job you did on this. I have heard stories about the Daltons and Doolins all my life because they operated around my area here in central Oklahoma, but I never knew about this California connection. I am told that some of my ancestors had a run-in with them before statehood near Silver City, Oklahoma. My wife's grandmother was a small child living in Ingalls, Oklahoma when the shootout occurred. She still remembered the event when she was still living.
Thank you Terry. You might also want to see another video I did last week on Livingston. About midway through I talk about the Daltons again! Here is a link: czcams.com/video/Jrjj2rxaQi0/video.html
@@jbenziggy Thank you Jeff. I'm going to your suggested video right now.
Great job.
I grew up always hearing about the Dalton gang from my grandma who is also a Dalton because they’re my ancestors. This was a very well made video.
Type1D thanks! It was one of my first videos and I’ve learned a lot since then. Please subscribe if you wish!
Oh wow i was told i was related to them by my mom, on my mothers side of the family im related to them and it on her dads side.
Love the way you both bring good history but with a good luagh :)
Thank you 😁
*laugh*
*Awesome video!*
Hi Sarah and Jeff!
I find your channel addictive. I like all types of history and I partial to California history. Since the two of you are from Merced why don’t you consider doing a story on the Stevinson Ranch? It’s been in the same family since 1852. I knew Georgette “Ma” Kelley and her husband Bob they rubbed shoulders with The Who’s who from Pebble Beach to San Francisco. They were very down to earth people who were loved by all. In San Francisco they lived at The Summit at 999 Green Street the largest mid century modern project ever built by the Eichler. At their Ranch they had a private polo field and an award winning home. These definitely were early Californians full of history and intrigue.
Love this stuff, keep it up 👍🏻
Thanks, will do!
Very good job Jeff! Great video!
Thanks! This was one of our first ever videos so it's not as good as our more recent ones but I appreciate your comments!
Jeff about 30 yrs ago turlock journal had put artical in the ppaer about a famous outlaw in turlock cemitary then known as potters corner
fascinating. very well done.
Many thanks!
good documentary really enjoyed it
john wayne thank you! I appreciate your feedback! Tell your friends about us! Merry Christmas!
Great video!!!! Use ....Find a Grave ....to help you narrow down your searches.
Seems to me Ground Penetrating Radar would have been a lot easier and no damage done to the coffin. Nicely done history lesson.
I was thinking of making the same post and thought I should read others first so as not to look like a goof.. ty Mr. Cain! @HistoryHunters go back with gpr!
Yeah but probably pretty expensive! 🤷♂️
You guys are fun!
Oh my gosh, thank you, Greg! We are having fun! I'll let Sarah know you said so. We have another video set to come out tonight or tomorrow! Hope you watch and enjoy that one! Would love to have you as a subscriber if you're not already!
That's was great about the
Outlaw Dalton's.
great video
The movie 'The Last Ride of the Dalton Gang' was filmed in Columbia in 1979. The story it told was pretty incomplete. Your video has added a lot to the narrative.
The movie is fun though, not only because I am in it, but for all it shows of Columbia!
With the passion of history coursing through my veins, would love to be able to do what history hunters does, with taking another step in helping solve or reopen cold case files.
You can do it! Just do a lot of research like we do! Thanks for watching!
Love the video. You should bring back the narrator....the guy has a great voice and almost as good as the late great Peter Thomas. Best channel on YT easily!!!
Sending him scripts and waiting days for it and hearing him mispronounce words and the cost caused me to move on.
@@jbenziggy That's too bad because it makes for an added dimension to already quality videos.
Wow !! We really share the same types of interests , from the old west to Back to the future movies
Thanks so much! We appreciate such nice words of affirmation, which far overshadow the negative comments every successful CZcamsr is expected to receive!
I have nothing negative to say about your page. You remind me of myself. Once I find a subject interesting I dig deep into it and want to know even the most obscure facts about it. Very well done videos. Thanks for posting and thanks for all the time you put into these
another masterpiece
Again very interesting
It's strange to see you make all of the connections as you piece this together, because I was reading up on him while watching the video, I saw that he was born where I live. I had no idea that the Daltons were here at one point.
Very interesting ,, I got to know a Larry Dalton, around -94,, in Russellville, AR. He's dead now but he told me alot about His relatives. One of Bills 9 (?) Brothers was Larrys great great grandfather. Name was Henry, or Cole, If I am not mistaken. He never became an outlaw though.
So cool !!!! 😍
Thank you very much!
One of the Dalton boys ,after doing his time in jail. Went to Hollywood and acted in a movie about the Dalton. My good friend is a Dalton, And he looks just like one of them
A great story, and so sad you never knew your Grandfather.
Nicely done! Joe Ulrich is my daddy. I have grown up with all of the Dalton stories. It's nice to see this all put together!
Lori Smith thank you! Your dad was a delight to interview and hang out with for a while! Please share with your friends and family!
jbenziggy Will do! I've also shared it with the board of The Turlock Historical Society
Really? Lori I was told there was lot told about them unwritten & lot lies written about them by dime novelists lot lost in time. That's interesting Lori Smith can I add you on FB I'm very interested in the Daltons they seem very interesting & unique.
Yeah Lori I was told the Coffeyville, Kansas gunfight in the Daltons raid on two banks was a lot worst than published and documented hence 7 or 8 local citizens were killed & wounded by friendly fire given why Bob Dalton, Grat Dalton, & Bill Power were buried feet facing West & not East hence Christians believed if you were buried feet facing East your soul was conjured into Heaven by the Good Lord in the second coming of Christ during the Rapture, however, the two Daltons & Bill Power were buried feet face West hence the locals in Coffeyville felt there souls should be delivered to Satan & his Demons for the damage they did.
Some of my family lived in Coffeyville, KS. at the time of the Dalton Gangs attempted bank robberies in Oct. 1892.
I have a great book on the Daltons wtitten by Nancy Samuelson.... apparently a relative?? Anyways, super video on a neat chapter in the old west... my favorite time in history
Hi Guys, I love the Ol outlaw history. Seems like several of them have history in California, Jesse James Too. Year's ago I hauled Cattle out of Coffeeville, and South Coffeeville about every week. Really Good video Thanks. PS. I thought that guy was going to get played out probing for the Grave.
Vary good video. I love this very history lady from Oklahoma. There James, Dalton, Doolin, Younger. All descended from Outlaws live here in Oklahoma. And a few in law enforcement officer.
You are very welcome! We love making videos like this! We'd love to have you as a subscriber!
Love old West History. Your wife sure is lovely. Love your videos
Thanks so much! It’s an honor!
My dad's grandmother said they spent the night in the Argo Church after the longview tx bank robbery. They crossed white oak creek on the Murphy and zelleth trail then onto rock crossing on the sulphur river up into the territory
Glad you found Bill Dalton's final resting place.
Great story I didn’t know they were in CA
I love your hairstyle. Looks great on you!
Thank you Valerie! And someone days ago commented on my Bodie video, “Stop with the goofy hairdo you dork.” Nice guy huh? You made up for his crudeness so thanks!!!
Interesting. I'm from Livingston and had been aware of the legend of the Dalton's and the burial location of Bill but never knew he was relocated to Turlock.
For sure he is burial in Turlock. I'd love to see about having him exhumed but the Daltons would have to sign on and I hear they are not receptive to inquires about him!
That was a pretty stout old man pounding that spike looking for a led casket; Respect for the stout old Dude!
Well that was well worth my time! I was just in Coffeyville this past weekend, actually two weekends ago. The Dalton's history still a huge part of the sleepy little Kansas town just over the Oklahoma border. I know it takes money but it would be nice to go back with ground penetrating radar and get an image of what it looks like? See if you can see the rectangle disturbance of soil, dirt that has been dislocated.
Just saying. A quick follow up, part two? Also, a trip to Tulsa and short drive to Coffeyville to hit the historical spots. I'll buy lunch and drive! You could also hit the historic Browns Mansion in Coffeyville and then off to Bartlesville, home of Frank Phillips, founder of Philips 66 and Woolaroc!!
Or, over to Copan! Site of one of the most infamous unsolved murders. The Mullendore murder at the Mullendore Mansion! Books have been written. If you go to the wikipedia page on the subject, it quotes Gary Glanz, a private investigator from Tulsa. I can set you up with him, he is a friend of mine (went to school with his son.) Plenty of history worthy of a trip. If you want more info I can email you some interesting reads that might pique your interest. By the way, part of the movie Tulsa with Susan Heyward was filmed in Tulsa. Plenty of good locales to recreate scenes from the movie. Just random thoughts after watching one of my new favorite channels of CZcams. Thank you for your work.
Ada would be a good stop, in OK! I'm born and raised here, and it's "Where The Old West Died", due to Deacon Jim Miller.
