- 5-08-2009. Semis, Gm 3, series tied 1-1. HOU had taken HCA away from LA in a mildly surprising Game 1 win at Staples. Big Yao was a handful, but he came up a giant gimp thereafter, thus giving the Lakers an excuse to lazily play around w/ HOU to 7 games. It wasn't a close 7 gm series as LA won two by 40 and 19 (with a largest lead of 33). Therefore, don't believe the hype that HOU almost did this, that, or the other. Matter fact, if Yao remained uninjured, the Rockets were a much more conventional post-up team for obvious reasons. Slow and plodding while Yao was in there. The Rox had the advantage in the post, but that was still a style the Lakers' played well against. When he went out hobbled, Adelman used hodgepodge lineups and rotations and sometimes Nellieish lineups. They became harder to scout against, but the Lakes lead by the great Trevor Ariza (one of my fave Lakers ever) were never in REAL danger of losing. That's not to say that I, nor we, weren't annoyed w/ that old shit habit coming back to life on us. We thought we had gotten rid of allowing teams to come back from series deficits in 2000.

I was at this game. We were sitting behind the other goal so we could see this when he let it go. He’s still the best player I’ve ever seen live, with Kevin Durant being a very close second.
Jordan Farmar was the unsung hero in this game with Fisher out due to a 1 game suspension after knocking Luis Scola to the ground intentionally in game 2. This was a big game 3 with the series tied and the heart and soul of the team not available. Farmar, who was a sneaky talented PG when he was playing at his best, filled in in Fisher's absence and played well, which was enough for Kobe, Pau, Lamar and others to do the rest.
The game 2 of this series is when Kobe went ballistic.
And yes, Ariza should’ve been a 10-year, Michael Cooper type of Laker. Still pissed he didn’t stick around - even tho I enjoyed the Ron Artest/MWP experience a lot, too
Yea that one irked me even tho I loved ron wish there woulda been a way to have em both I still think if we had ariza and Bynum available in 08 we beat the celtics
@@jordanflores5687 I agree, bud 👍
Forgot about young Lowry on this team. (At the time I was focused on Brooks looking like an all-star against Fish.) Ton of wing defense w/ him, Artest and Battier.
19:52 Nasty 3 by Kobe 😎
Wafer clearing jumping into Sasha at 24:00. Glad they finally clarified such a play as an offensive foul, you can't jump INTO a defender and Sasha was clearly jumping to the side to avoid running into Wafer.
I remember this series pissing me off. Without Yao Ming the Rockets push this series to 7 games.
Because the Rockets played hard and was the only team in the 2009 playoffs to force them to a game 7
Gasol the original Lakers AD
Marc Gasol Also a Lakers.
NPZ, I’d take Ariza over that prat Kuzma to this day. Trev had 19 points for the HEAT last night. What a player.
True, and where's Odom now? Tear rolls down face.
@@nonplayerzealot4 Do you think the Houston Rockets should bring back the 2009 arena sounds
Can you post Utah series too? Plz!
Ming Yao is Looking Expected To Play on Game 4 Until Game 7 while Battling Injuries for His Foot Problem from Ming. But Also Mcgrady n Mount Mutombo Should Expect To Play on Game 4 Returns as a Rockets Until Game 7 with Battling Injuries is Mcgrady n Mutombo.
