- 6-03-2010. Finals, Gm 1. Again, are the Phil Lakers ready to grab Gm 1 while the opponent is sleeping (more or less)? Game 1s were usually good for those 5 Finals competitors under Phil. It wasn't the be-all, end-all as the Lakes lost the first 2 to SA in 2004 and swept the rest, but in a series like Detroit, it put them behind the 8 ball real quick. The odds of all teams that have lost Gm 1 in the history of all 7 gm series immediately turn bad. It's something like 70% losing teams that do it. As a bonus, Game 1 is often a well-reffed game because they don't know which team to do their extendo-series shit with. It's no wonder why LA usually won Gm 1s and the shenanigans began in the refs' attempts to help the losing teams (like SAC) out.

Brings me bak to my childhood I was 16 I’m 29 now
1:40 that play by Artest set the tone for the entire series.
Thanks, NPZ. You always come through. This was the beginning of what was simultaneously the most stressful and rewarding playoff series of my lifetime, and I think all of our lifetimes.
Everyone sees this differently and that often has to do w/ our age. I love that we beat the Smelts in any era, but younger fans typically love newer content because they came up under that era. Same w/ me and my Gen X peeps here who love to revisit games from 1994 of all years. We have a fondness for that Threatt era because we maxed out our knowledge of the basics of the game as late teens during that time (and Chick/Stu were still "youngish", relatively in Chick's case, literally in Stuart's). Those games are extremely watchable no matter W or L simply because of Chick and even Stu, too (give Stu Snake his props -- he made an effort back then, not as many Mr. Floors and Mr. Momentums and contrarian battles w/ Joel). There are little snotnoses now who are gonna be fond of this Brawn period about 10-15 yrs off.
@@nonplayerzealot4 Yeah. I agree. It all depends on perspective.
That 3 at the end by Kobe was absolutely beautiful. He was gonna hold it but the second he was met with mild resistance, he put Ray Allen in his place.
Appreciate the Lakers content as always!
Just wanted to say thanks for the content as always
CON!-tent. Fuggeddit dehn. (joke, see Touchtone Terrorists prank tapes on YT).
As a Laker fan 1 thing I'll say tho is 2010 Kevin Garnett is not the same as the 2008 KG. The injury KG got in 2009 did some damage to him .
celtics had 1 1/2 season of kg’s prime. people constantly leave that part out 🤷🏽♂️
I knew the moment Ron/Metta took down cry baby Pierce that this was going to be different than 2008. I always think in 2010, we beat Boston at their own game, the gritty, down and dirty style of physical basketball, and that guys who remembered 2008, especially Pau, knew they had to be hardened to beat the Celtics this time around.
And lebron fans till this day shame Kobe’s stat line lebron couldn’t get 20 rebounds and play lockdown defense if his life depended on it 😂.
celtics had the lakers on the ropes till perkins’ injury but oh well. also ron was a menace to society lmaoo
That last 3 was a big f u to bostons big 4
I'm usually a sucker for defensive slugfests, but I never got a ton of enjoyment out of this series. Probably because game 7 was such an ugly game, albeit an amazing comeback.
True, I love Gm 3, the one win at BOS because of Fish's umpteenth heroic moment, but not my fave Finals. However, I was doing a Game 1 sorta thing for a minute. That was my reasoning. I don't mind Gm 1 because this one wasn't that bad either. Game 1s usually don't get F'd up by the refs imo. I think the last group of Gm 1s that I've put up have shown that. And Gm 2, which BOS won, had all kinds of ref F ups. Not saying they were the only cause because Ray Ray hit 8/10 from trey, but they had maybe 3 or maybe even more trips to the review table and couldn't even correct one of the hacks on the forearm that Odom got causing him to lose the ball outta bounds because fouls aren't correctable in instant replay. That kinda thing. Fortunately, Ray immediately went cold from trey after Gm 2. If we were facing the Sonics aged version of Ray, we'd have been in trouble.
@@nonplayerzealot4 Ray Allen cost Pierce and Garnett a 2nd ring
@@arizonaFIREent how? he is the reason it went 7 games. otherwise lakers win in 6
@@Myblacknadzhe won them game 2, but he was practically horrible (shooting wise) the rest of the series when they really needed him as a 2nd/3rd scoring option
Tony Allen was gonna miss that dunk regardless lol he was losing it already
It might have still banked or bounced in
Che spettacolo artest
Thanks, do you have any of the other games in this series?
This laker team was so good. it doesn't feel like they need kobe at all.
Seek help immediately
You silly as hell
I'm a Laker fan and I get what your saying. People act like these 2 rings Kobe won without Shaq Kobe didn't have tons of help. This Laker team was STACKED.
