    Every basket by Kobe in the 2010 Western Conference Finals against the Phoenix Suns. In my opinion, this is Kobe's greatest playoff series in his entire career. He was just ridiculous, averaging 33.7 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 8.3 APG, 0.8 SPG, and 1.2 BPG. Kobe was an absolute sniper in this series, making 52.1% of his shots and 43.2% from 3pt, while making 88.1% of his free throws. The Suns constantly threw the zone defense at the Lakers, and Kobe made them pay scoring the majority of his points from the perimeter.

      @maxschlepzig641 Před 9 lety +72

      This is better than MJ. MJ can't do this, not has MJ outscored a whole team in 3 quarters that was runner up in the Finals that year. Not saying Kobe is better than MJ, but Kobe is undoubtedly in the same league as MJ. As Phil Jackson says: they're a cut above the rest

    • @benjohnston8665
      @benjohnston8665 Před 9 lety +38

      Max Schlepzig I sort of agree with you. When you look at it technically, Kobe Bryant's FG% is the only thing that separates him from other great scorers. If only he learned to trust his teammates and the system like MJ did. I don't like it when he loses his dribble, pump fakes and shoots over the player for a tough shot. MJ wouldn't do that because it isn't a smart shot. If Kobe had a smart shot selection he would have been GOAT. Nevertheless a top 5 player in my books.

    This is just basketball at the highest level. Kobe is played super tight throughout this series, rarely does he get anything easy but all 6 games he put on a clinic.
    And to think this was all when Kobe had broken index finger on his shooting hand, his ring finger on the same hand was developing arthritis from an injury the season before this one, his right knee was in need of surgery constantly swelling up and had fluid drained from it multiple times during the playoffs. Performing at this level through all that was inhuman.

      ***** Lebron is not clearly greater. He's lost 4 times in the finals now... he's lost almost as many times as Kobe's won. The only reason Lebron has made it to the finals every year he has is because he's in the most pitiful conference the NBA has seen, ever. the bottom 2 teams aren't even 500 teams. It's a no brainer he'd get there... but he loses because he can't close games against real competition (ie western conference teams). Bottom line... lebron is NOT a closer. It's the one facet his DNA is missing, and the one thing that will forever put him a tier below MJ, Kobe, Bird, Magic, and Kareem. I'm sorry, this is just the truth! He's a great player, but CLEARLY greater than Kobe? That's just untrue. Lebron is gifted... but Kobe is a winner.

  • @Lyle-dc5ki
    @Lyle-dc5ki Před 5 lety +18

    If you watch his interviews, his mindset has always been "what can I do about this nagging injury?" or "what do I do if I'm past my prime?" he always found a way to keep being the assassin that he was.
    That's the difference between him and the so called "king" of the NBA. He's 34 now and still relying on attacking the basket and athleticism. The guy can't even hit free throws.
    Kobe in his 30s changed his game even more. Midrange shots, in the post shots, long range bombs, footwork, becoming much more ambidextrous. In his last year after he got back from the achilles he even changed the way he elevated on his jumpshots.
    Size and strength and all the statistical accolades? Yeah give it to the so called king. But skillset and intangibles? Come on people, stop putting him in the same sentence with Kobe. No bias, its not even close.

    Now that I look back on this championship run, Kobe was right... it was the sweetest not only because he triumphed over the Celtics and avenged his '08 loss but he redeemed himself from those back-to-back first-round exits (06' & 07') at the hands of Nash, the Suns. There's a reason why he is/was the most complete player in the game... Kobe's offensive arsenal was polished and his defensive tenacity was relentless, the man could score from LITERALLY anywhere. I have never seen a player who has been as hated/scrutinized as Kobe, especially on the road... he was the perfect villain that just wanted to crush your hopes & dreams and he made those Suns fans sit down & be quiet.
