Thanks for the recap, Rick. Some really nice pickups. The'50 Bowman set is one of my favorites. Love the artistic action photos. And the '63 Aaron is a beauty!
1968 Topps baseball is the first set I collected when I was a kid and I also collected the “game” set and played it many times with friends. Great childhood memories. Thanks for the kind words in the video. The exposure is always welcome. Can’t forget about the ’63 Aaron. Love that card. I need to get one back to show off in my case. I’ve got you subscribed now so I will catch all your videos from here on out. Thanks again Rick. Good stuff.
Yes, but the story is that as young, rambunctious kids and having no sense that the cards would have value, we drew pictures on them and wrote jokes on them. Not one card was spared, all 33 were drawn on. I still have them some where as well.@@RickAcostaDodgerCardCollector
New to your channel. love that Rod Carew. man i have some fond memories of the vintage cards and looking at them at the shows when i was little. great stuff, glad to see your awesome collection and thanks for sharing. later on Jay. thumbs up!!
Great additions Rick, I love the 50 Bowman, such beautiful colors and imagery. Also, I can say, I was very moved by the loss of your cat, we here up in Canada love our animals, both cats and dogs. I hope its getting easier for you..sending my best!!
Mike, thanks so much for your kind words. I don't know if it's getting easier, but I just take things one day at a time. Being around baseball cards, family members and friends definitely keeps me busy. I'll get there someday, That 50 Bowman set is nice. I hope to build enough to one day decide to work on it. Maybe if I get the Yogi, Williams and Rizzuto I'll go full steam. Thanks for watching!
Nice pickups! How funny that just today, I added the Rod Carew and Rick Monday '68 Game cards to my wantlist for the card show coming up in two weeks. Hopefully I can be as lucky as you and find them in the wild!
Jim, it's funny that I have never really thought much about this mini set, but after getting a handful and reading people's comments, I am excited to work on this set. Its a good looking set.
Nice pickups, Rick! Sounds like a decent show for some vintage this time. One of these days I'll have to go down there. Love the Bowmans and that's a really sweet Aaron you got at auction. Very nice.
Mike! an okay show. I don't know if I'd drive down from LA county again, but it was nice to hang out for a bit. Definitely closer for you. If you go, go on a Saturday!
Beautiful 1950 Bowman cards. Whenever I see some, I try to take em all if I can. And the last big lot of them I acquired, they were all higher numbers also. Very interesting fact that the lows are the harder cards to find.
Yeah, I never knew about the low numbers either. I am always used to hearing its the high numbers. 1950 is a great looking set indeed. How many are you up to for that season?
Hi Rick! As always, I enjoy seeing your pickups. I know 68 is your birth year which makes it a special set, but of course you had the historic pitching season as well. I look forward to seeing your progress. Nice 1950 pickups. Even if you never work on the set they are nice to have in your collection. The 50 to 52 Bowman sets make even little known players stand out. The Schiffling card is a perfect example of that. There are many more. Love the look of the Torgelson too. Even the portrait style cards have an artistry to them with the facial detail and backgrounds. What a great 63 Aaron to add to your collection. He had an incredible season that year and would have got my MVP vote with Koufax getting the CY Young. Dick Groat finishing second and Aaron finishing third is absurd. Aaron led the league in most offensive categories.
Hi Terry, ahhh 65 is actually my birth year. 1968 has a story which I'll share with everyone soon. Yeah, those 1950 cards are nice. The Torgeson is a beauty, Would definitely make a nice set to add to my collection just because of the artwork. It's always good to add a Hank Aaron to my collection. Thanks for watching!
Hey Rick - love that 68' game cards and the 68' set is really growing on me. Really great 50's cards i'm on a 50's card kick as well. Just picked up the some 56' for my set build and some 50's pirates that i'll be showing off some time this week! good to know that the earlier cards 1-72 are the toughest, didn't know that, and way to close it out with hammering hank! awesome stuff, thanks for sharing!
Mike, I love that 1956 set. How far along are you? The 68 has a story which I'll share soon. I am really liking the 1950 Bowman set, but not willing to make the commitment to work on it yet. Thanks for watching.
Hmm off the top of my head I think I’m about 40ish in. So not too far lol. I have the Pirates team set minus the Clemente and Team card and about 30 other commons. My goal is to pick up about 10ish a month and try and hit 100-120 by end of year. Slow and steady.
I just sent in some cards to Greg Morris to be be sold in future auctions and one of them is a 1968 Topps Game Card in great condition of Dean Chance #16
I like that game set. Had a chance a while ago (like more than 10 years ago) to but the complete set for $80 shipped. I passed because I thought I could always get it later. Not so true anymore. They used to be so cheap. Nice pickups overall
Drew, I honestly thought this set would be done for like $150. I can tell after yesterday and reading your comment that I am totally wrong. Thanks for watching!
@@RickAcostaDodgerCardCollector well, I focus on prewar, especially tobacco cards. But, I'm currently building the 1957 set (got the Clemente today). I'm down to about 20 cards needed. It's been a lot of fun to build, and I've met some great people.
@@matthewhock6735 pre-war is nice. You should make a video and show us. 57 Topps is a great set! Nice work getting the Clemente. I finished that sat about a year ago, Was a good one to work on.
Glad to see you back. Thanks for the entertainment!
