- Painting Vinyl Shutters is easier than you think. Let me show you just how easy it is to freshen them up and for a reasonable price. This project was a fun one. The Vinyl Shutters came down with just a little persuasion. Once they were off the house, it was the perfect time to power wash behind them. Going this route ended up being a whole lot cheaper than buying new shutters and with a quality paint like Sherwin Williams, It’s s guaranteed to be a durable paint for years to come.

Thanks for showing me how shutters should be installed. I've resisted taking them down because I thought they were plugs over screws and I'd break them, not push fasteners. So easy! On the shrubs beneath the windows - they're inconvenient when cleaning windows, but a benefit in terms of home security.
Yes sir. They are simple. Just a little elbow grease. And the shrubs are a pain, but you’re right, they do serve a purpose.

We are painting our shutters black as well and i am glad i clicked on your video. Never thought about the warping because of the heat. Thank you for pointing out that issue if we don't use the correct paint. We are in Charleston, SC and the front of the house is full sun and it gets up in the 100's with heat index. @@ReadySetBuildIt Sorry to bother you, Sir. But would Sherwin-Williams Urbane Bronze on the front door and shutters be too dark with grayish brown and black brick and off-white siding? Or should I opt for a burgundy door and beige shutters?
@@Annabee399 honestly, I wouldn’t be the best person to consult for which goes with what. I normally resort to my wife for those decisions. I can only recommend going with a quality exterior grade paint.

Great job. Glad to see you numbered the shutters. That makes all the difference when putting them back on.
I think you could have pre-painted the fasteners. Maybe put tape on them or use a rubber hammer to prevent scratching. Then you can install in one pass without taking paint up the ladder.

Thanks. We hated the blue. The front door was blue too. Every room inside the house was a different shade of blue when we bought it. Previous owners had a blue thing I guess.

Looks great. Now that it's been a while how has the paint held up? Any warping issues with the darker color? Which direction does your house face? My shutters are currently like yours (blue) and we also want to go black. My house faces north so not as much direct sunlight so I'm hoping that translates into warping not being as much of an issue.
Thanks Travis. Im still happy with it. No warping or color fading. My house is South facing. I think the key is picking a quality paint. 10 out of 10 would do it again.

Hi, I did need to buy new fasteners. They sell them at the big box stores as well as amazon. They come in many colors, but in my opinion painting them to match your paint exactly is the best bet.

Why are the majority of Amerikan houses black and white? I find it sort of boring. You never see that in Europe!
It’s possibly the ones you see, but I can tell you I’m the only with that combination in my neighborhood
