    That's interesting. I don't know much of paint but you went from a very dark color to light. Video shows a light color. Just wondering why you decided to do that color combination?

      Honestly, it was just blending colors I had on hand to chief a black and brownish color stain to match the mirror frame. Not really a science, but experimenting

    Wow, I really like this book stand~! I've been scrubbing thru videos looking for one to build for my daughter in hopes of finding something different...well, this was it. The Mahogany does look great, so I'll grab some when I'm at my wood supplier. I think maybe I'll build a couple, one with lighter Maple splines and one with darker Walnut ones, then my daughter can pick her favorite. ( I have a bunch of Walnut in my shop.) As for your explanation for favoring audio books, I'm in the same boat. I call myself a "terrible reader" because I really need a book to grab me to make it past the first couple of chapters and I've found few authors that do that, therefore I don't read much at all. I recently listened to my first audio book ("We Were Soldiers...") and it gave me the same feeling that you described. Seeing this video, I thought it was the first I'd seen from your channel, but I saw that I watched your wedding arch when scrolling thru your content. I built one last year for my son & new daughter-in-law after drawing from the builds of several others. Either way, I really liked your presentation style and I'm a new subscriber. Very interested to see what you do next~! Cheers~!

    • @ReadySetBuildIt
      @ReadySetBuildIt Před 9 dny

      Thanks Andrew. The mahogany was a happy pivot and I think all the combinations you described will also look great. Reading is important, but I’m convinced it’s not the only way to consume content. I actually spend more time listening to books during my commutes than music. Thanks for giving my videos a shot and thanks for subscribing.

    Even if the poles are treated you should try making the bases out of metal with a mount for the poles that way the poles can be changed out after time tears them up and the bases stay sturdy and reusable if you ever wanna dig them out and move them.

    Enjoyed your video and just subscribed! Have the same DeWalt table saw you do and am building my first crosscut sled with UHMW runners. The runners fit and moved perfectly in the miter slots BEFORE I attached them to my sled base. After attaching them with CA glue and the screws that came with the runners, now they won’t slide smoothly in the slots. I hand-tightened the screws so as not to over tighten them using a drill and even backed the screws out some but still leaving them countersunk. They still will not slide smoothly. May go to the hardwood runner option as you did, but I live in a hot and humid climate and am concerned about wood movement when the seasons change.

    • @ReadySetBuildIt
      @ReadySetBuildIt Před měsícem

      Thanks. Welcome to the channel. I understand your dilemma. In your case I would go with an aluminum runner or at the very least pick a really stable dense wood for your runners and be sure to cut them with the grain in the right direction. Scotty Walsh has a great video about choosing aluminum runners you may find helpful. Thanks again for the sub and good luck on your crosscut sled.

So far they've all turned out amazing and even sold one. Ive found the Scotch blue (Edge Lock) series works the best for sealing out anything, Ive tried the green Frog tape, orange tape and this Scotch blue WITH Edge Lock works the best and haven't had any bleed through using it.

    the fall was hilarious. Thank you so much for the information! quick question: Would this be possible to do with carpet that you cut vs the pre-cut/ pre-made carpet tread you had? I have some stairs that aren't a conventional shape so I'm looking into maybe getting some carpet and cutting it myself.

    • @ReadySetBuildIt
      @ReadySetBuildIt Před 2 měsíci

      Thanks so much. It should work as long as the underside of the carpet is a material the tape will stick too. Also I would be concerned about the look of the edges on cut carpet as the treads have a sewn edge on them.
