I had a few small holes in my vinyl siding about the size of a quarter from my neighbors lawn mower throwing rocks. I hired a handyman to repair it as best he could and he filled the holes with caulk and painted it to match. You really had to look closely to see the repairs because he blended it perfectly. I think he charged me $20 (this was 10 years ago).
Smart 💡👍🏼😊
Professional siding contactor here. I would repair both with actual siding for $50-75 plus the cost of 1 panel of siding. Nobody would know it was repaired either.
One piece of siding is probably 10 bucks? Thanks for sharing 👍🏼🛠️🛠️
@@HomeRapidRepair More now. Like everything else.
Most of the time you can’t match the new siding without painting it anyhow
@@randymelendez7803 100% agreed. This is the truth for sure. But a small patch even without a perfect color match is better than a hole in your house 😊🛠️
@@randymelendez7803 When I do these repairs, I remove a piece of the original vinyl siding from a discrete part of the home, like behind shrubbery, a dormer, a roof return, etc, etc. Then I use that piece to do the repair and replace the removed piece with a new piece of siding.
Got rental property with vinyl siding and never knew this product existed. Thank you, Larry.
Yes it saves a lot of time and headaches...thanks for watching as usual
I've done this on areas that aren't commonly seen, otherwise, we will take a piece of the old siding off of a part of the house that nobody really looks at and put a new piece there and then put that piece in place of the damaged piece - that way you don't have to worry about color matching as bad
Fantastic idea. Thanks 🛠️🛠️
The colors match so perfectly!

You and the Flex Tape guy are both very convincing.
Oh those royalty checks 💰
@@BrianLawrence-vk3pu I haven't tried flex tape but I used flex seal spray and paste. They both suck! They even sent me four free cans of spray after I complained. I ended up using a heat gun to remove it all . PPG Top Gun 400 is the only product I've found that sealed the seams in my 14x26 metal awning without any leaks.
I used water proof duct tape in beige like my house. Worked great. My son-in-law is not allowed to weed eat around my house any more. While I don't hate your fix, I just didn't know about this specific vinyl mending kit at the time. I did the best I could with what I could find at the time. I am happy I don't need to color match though. Your video brought together lots of options for repair. I'd call it a win.
Hey, sounds good. I agree with you. Thanks for all your comments. I have noticed that flexseal is coming out with a line of extremely strong tapes that have different colors 👍🏼🛠️🏠
take a sample of the siding to your paint store and have them color match the chip and make a quart of exterior paint, apply the patch, and then paint the patch. blends perfectly!

I live on a golfcourse and deal with golf balls that managed to hit my house instead of the hole. I have used this product and it workes great. I have holes that were patched and painted 5 years ago and they still are in the same condition as when installed. They are not completely invisable when up close, but are more practical than replacing pieces of siding all the time and protects against water damage.
Thanks for sharing your story. I really appreciate it. Watch out for those golf ⛳️ balls 😊
This video said color matching can be done. While the sign installer in me is squirming a little on the application, it's just a demo for a quick, easy, CHEAP fix that anybody can do.
If you want the color to match, match the color instead of being a troll about it on CZcams.
If you want it to look a little better still, add a heat gun or hair dryer and a soft rubber brayer, to roll the vinyl into the texture better. Don't get too close with the heat, vinyl film (and siding) can melt or burn.
Thank you so much. I have a friend who installs vinyl wraps and I was going to hit them up for better vinyl application tips 😊👍🏼🛠️
Sorry to rain on your parade, but the repair sticks out like a sore thumb.
Hey, thanks for keeping it real. I'll try to fix it up better next time.
It primarily stands out because the colour match was not close enough.
But it's on the right track!

Thank you for this information. I need to patch several areas but thought I would have to replace the actual siding. This solution is something I can do myself.😅😊
Thanks for watching. Good luck. You got this 👍🏼😊🏠
A good way to apply stickers is peel off only 1/2 an inch. Line up the sticker without touching the half inch side. Then apply the half inch side and peel off the rest of the backing.
I’ll try it!!! 100% 💪🏼🛠️. Thanks
I have a friend that owns a vinyl wrap business, I Should watch them 👍🏼
You cannot be serious. This looks terrible. Replace the siding, it’s so easy to do. A new piece of siding will take no time to fade into what is there. I’ve done it a bunch of times. What a terrible product.

I repaired decades old vinyl siding with original siding and it matched perfectly. Not hard to do and instant match and fix...
Thank you for sharing that experience. Thats good to know.
Nice. I will definitely try this. I can do this myself. Easy and fast.
Hey you got this 😊👏🏼🏠
This seems like a viable option for skirting around mobile homes that takes a beating from mowers and trimmers.
I agree with you
Some old siding can’t be matched with siding pieces so this is A good idea.
Agreed. Thanks for watching 🏠🛠️
I'd use spray foam in the can to fill the void first, allowing it to expand and fully dry then trim it down flush with surface for some surface support for the flimsy sticker covering. Otherwise as soon as something comes into contact with it it's going to be ruined without any type of solid backing.
Thank you...I'm going to do that in a future video or bondo the gap first. Thanks for watching
Thank you for the information! I’m going to get what you recommended and try it.
Fantastic 👍🏼✅😊

Nice little quick fix for the damaged siding. Mostly stucco where I live I wish I had a sticker for that lol.
Right on 👍🏼. Thanks for watching 🏠
@@HomeRapidRepair Sure thing my friend. I have a few repairs to take care of myself.
Well, anytime I brought my samples to the paint store. They never matched it perfectly at all so chances of that happening are zero but I would definitely use this if I had siding I live in Tucson so everyone out here has stucco, which would make it very easy to fix, this is a good fix if you don’t want to replace a section which would look stupid
Thank you for watching and your comments 😊🛠️

Great information on small holes
Thanks for watching and the positive comment 😊🛠️
Take a close up picture of the siding and Lowes can recreate paint that matches the actual color. Then you can paint a small piece of vinyl siding that matches too.
Thanks 👍🏼🛠️🏠
Thanks you that’s is just what I’m was looking for.
Thank you for your kind words! I'm thrilled that the video was what you were looking for.
I just poked a hole in my second floor siding last week… i didn’t know the nails were pulled out a bit and the siding was buckling. I leaned out the 2nd story window and pushed it and a nail broke a hole through. I patched it temporarily with aluminum tape that looks bad but worked…Im going to pull and replace a few feet of the piece since i have to re nail it. Its white.
Oh you lucked out with white siding for sure. Good luck 😊🛠️🛠️
At least it helps keep water out from behind it. For a cheap temporary fix, it looks like it would be good!
I agree 100% 😊🏠
I just used a little piece of white duct tape on my white garage..Easy Breezy lemon Squeezy! Like new..
I love it. No need to color match 🏠
Great tip.
Glad it was helpful! 😊🛠️
It may be easier to find a small piece of vinyl siding to cover the gap and paint to match.
Thank you. I’m planning to try this method during a future video 😊🏠🛠️
Hey crafters....Cricut or Siser both make outdoor permanent vinyl in a ton of colors available online or your craft store. I would make a butterfly or ladybug vinyl decal!!! But this is a quick temp solution until you can replace the siding!
Now you’re flexing your creativity 🏠
Thanks. I will try this.
Awesome. Thank you for watching.
I used a strip of duct tape. 😁 Cheap and EZ. I got beige tape and it nearly matches my siding.
Was it Gorilla Tape or similar brand?
@@HomeRapidRepair Just colored duct tape I got at an art supply store. You can get small rolls at the dollar store ($1.25).
You would have put a piece of duct tape over your holes and it would have look the same.
Probably from just an appearance point of view. However duct tape will dry out and fall off in the sun…vinyl will hold up.
Baking soda and super glue, then color match the siding.
cool. I will try it and let you know what happens
I hope it works out for you, but if not, let me know either way. I like to hear both sides of the story 😊🏠
How far back do I have to stand not to see that patch?
10 feet without my glasses, 20 feet with my glasses on. True story. By the way, you’ll be the only one that notices it. Vinyl patch does a perfectly good job of keeping the weather and the insects out. And even if the color matches not perfect it’s still much improved over a hole in your house 🏠
Thank you thank you thank you.
You are so welcome
Hi and thanks for the video, now that the patch has been on for some time and exposed to the elements how is it holding up?
So far it’s perfect. This type of vinyl patch is the same technology as vinyl wraps on millions of vehicles all over the country. They stand up to snow and rain and sleet and sun and hundred degree plus temperatures, etc. it’s a good product.
@@HomeRapidRepair Nice. Thanks for the update!

Think that this product might work on new mobile home skirting. Lawn maintenance company weed eater put a few holes in our new skirting.
Thanks for watching. Yes 100% it will work on mobile home skirting. But of course it will get damaged again if they keep whacking into it…
What about supporting the patch over the hole? Won't it leave a concave spot?

I've just cut a little strip of extra siding. I then cut off of the siding strip with the nail holes. I then snap it over the hole.
Wait how are you snapping it in? You’re just using the profile shape of the siding to snap it in? 🏠🛠️
@@HomeRapidRepair the bottom lip snaps over the exiting siding and then I glue it with caulk or silicone. I still have repairs I did 20 plus years ago and it's still in place.

Gorilla Tape Brand?
My wife does Cricut crafts (a bunch of it is adhesive vinyl) I wonder if that would work in a similar fashion?
It probably would as long as it’s high-quality vinyl. This is literally the same material they wrap commercial vehicles with.
BEEN DOING THIS KIND OF THING FOR YEARS
Awesome. Thanks for sharing 👍🏼🏠
It kind of still looks not very kosher for my tastes, however it helps keep moisture out until you really fix it.
Thanks for taking the time to watch, I appreciate it.
I honestly don't agree with your assessment but might I suggest spray foam in the hole first. Let it dry sand it smooth then use your vinyl tape.

Any recommendations for an oil stain on white siding? It's olive oil specifically.
Have you already tried vinegar?, that’s a pretty universal cleaner that works magic. I could also see baking soda lightly mixed in a water solution. There are a ton of commercial cleaners for siding in the home improvement stores you could try. Good luck 🏠
I feel like it sticks out worse to the eye than the crack did. I'd rather just replace the vinyl siding in my opinion. My new home has this same sort of damage in a small area from a baseball.
I do a lot of home inspections and EVERYONE has cracked vinyl siding somewhere 😳
@@HomeRapidRepair Yeah, I think for this product to work it has to be a perfect identical color match. If it's off even the slightest, it will stand out like a sore thumb.
@@HomeRapidRepair True. I see mostly weed whacker damage and the vinyl gets melted from hot grills too close to the siding.
@nickp3173 Then, think of the vinyl patch as a stop-gap fix until you can get to replacing the damaged piece of siding. The "look" is not as important as keeping the weather out until you can do the repair to your statsfaction. Calling a siding company to do the repair(s) will probably cost $500.00 or so. Forget that!
@@charlesvancella524 I agree with everything you said. And yeah, I know personally I would never pay $500 for a cracked piece of siding, but I have heard firsthand stories that some people do 😳💰
Step 1. Remive all the vinyl siding. Step 2. Replace with Hardie board. Step 3. Caulk and paint. No more vinyl siding cracking, molding, or coming off.
Hey, I like all your steps. Although a typical beginner DIYer is not going to do all that 😊🏠🛠️. Thanks for commenting

Lol
doesn't look good, insert some backing strips with adhesive through the hole and pull flush against the backside. You can glue a nailhead on to the strips so you can pull it outward until glue grabs. Once you have some backing strip installed fill with bondo etc. You can even engrave texture into the bondo. then paint. if paint does not match use acrylic paints to tint , walmart has small tubes of acrylic in craft section.
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience.
You could fill with spray foam and shave it flush when dry.

Don't call them stickers you hurt their feelings....these little gems are vinyl patches
Will this work on a vinyl fence?
Yes, it should work well on a vinyl fence.
Looks like you put duct tape on your house 🏠 😮
Why didn't you color match. Those patches stick out worse than the holes. Good fix, terrible, lazy application. I don't get it???
I would just buy the whole side that don't look good it will come apart in in the heat
This patch is vinyl…much like vinyl wraps on millions of vehicles…it doesn’t fail in sunlight. Thanks for watching.
How about vynial fencing?
If you mean, vinyl fencing, it is very attractive however, it is very expensive also. And if you have a sprinkler system, hard water deposits stain it really bad. Also chips and cracks from lawnmowers and such. But those fences do look good for many years.
