The fake noise thing i always thought was bs for kids but on the track, an audible guide, familiar noise, makes sense
I love it...the fake sound serves a purpose. Helps keep folks awake and engaged.
I like it! Fake noise and all.
I love how people keep saying fake noise as though modem day car don't pump fake exhaust noise into the cabin already.
I hate fakery. So there you have it.
@krane15 your comment seems fake.
Both get criticized.
Even “real” exhaust notes are the product of some engineering trickery to hone the sound- it’s not just a natural product of good engine design.
I’d just turn it off probably 🤷♂️
Not just fake exhaust noise but fake induction noise too. I don't care either way honestly but I can understand why it bothers so many people.
Some ppl just hate everything just to be able to say they hate something.
They can't go a day without getting on CZcams to say they hate change 😂 its sad.
I hate this comment!

An EV that's not just fast, but fun to drive? Hmmm...🤔
Polestar 2 Performance.
This is better
Thats trsh @@surturiel
@@yeonichannel No it isn't.
Mmm, there are quite a few EVs that are fun to drive
The shifting is helpful for managing entry speed on a track. Its much easier to know the gear to use for a turn than having to micromanage your speed.
Would like a two seat convertible small sports car on a shrunken platform would be tempting.
Whats this recorded last Wednesday? I was at Seca and i saw a bunch of Hyundais
No footage going around the corkscrew? Seems like a missed opportunity.
What is the best weight distribution for 0-60 mph?
Need to do the slip test with it
Nathan, time to invest in a couple of cameras and mounts. Your in a N Performance car and you didn't even punch it. Instead, we all got to see you following a truck pulling a trailer (something you love).
good video. not sure I agree that there are no fun evs, I think they are awesome, and my little bolt is super fun. Always great to blow the doors off some gasser that thinks it is just a regular econo car when it is actually a hot hatch!!
Your bolt isn’t that fast 😅 but I’m glad you enjoy it . Signed- some gasser in a bmw that just blew by 😉
@@LafemmebearMusic not sure your bmw is that fast either but glad you enjoy it as well
@@LafemmebearMusicYou should test drive that Ionic 5N.
@@LafemmebearMusic Huff some more fumes.
1st mod i would do is a external speaker system i need 120 db minimum 😂
I think Hyundai massively beefed up external system for their Drift Spec version
Can they fake a gas gauge too?
I thought the steel silver color was best, doing the cyber truck style better than the cyber truck. But it looks great in red
As fancy silver car owner I gotta say I’m happy colors are a thing again cus all the fancy grey silvers are boring
When is the real world test coming? Daily grind and range. Charge speeds and when is Hyundai getting NACS.
NACS probably calendar year 2025 (model year 2026).
221 EPA rating
Where as I hear you for any other vehicle. But this isn’t about that it’s just meant to be fast and fun. Even gas powered fun cars that are very fast don’t have much milage from their fuel especially with 600 hp, so can you chill?
Hyundai it is out the park with this EV. Reminds me of Cyberpunk. LOVE IT.
So you're at Laguna Seca and you don't review its track performance even a little? A few stabs of full throttle and I'm supposed to watch like I wouldn't find out more in a test drive??
I want a sound pack for the engine that sounds like scalded cats screaming at each other. Or someone else said a Tie Fighter. Think of the options!
Interesting
This car is probably quick in acceleration, but not fast as in top speed.
Glad Hyundai made an enthusiast EV.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Fake oil leaks incoming 🤣
Do you like fuel leaks as much as you like gear shifts? Dont think that would be popular vote.
@@dfd6787 They can't afford one, they have to repave their driveway.
The downshift changing the regenerative brakes is pretty cool. But the fake engine noise is silly
You can turn off the noise. In fact, the simulated gear shifting works by reducing and cutting power at specific points to simulate the feel of a DCT... If you were in a situation where you wanted peak performance it makes more sense to turn all those features off. It's purely for the fun of it and because they can, it only hurts the performance.
stop complaining. you can turn it on and off.
It's not. Drive it before you talk shit.
Why is there a camper on a track?
It reminds me of the Shelby GLHS hot hatch Dodge Omni. Anyway, I can't deny the performance and handling of Hyundai's N cars, but I do not like the design. What I find particularly unappealing is the hodge-podge of angle in and around the car.
No worries, if everyone liked the same thing, it would be a boring world. We need Pintos too.
Manual transmission? ,Rear wheel Drive?
I actually like the fake sounds
No vision roof or HUD in the USA. Nerfed the US spec. Why Hyundai…why?!
I saw you leave this same comment on another channel, lol. In the first one I answered you. In this one I just wanted to tell you I think you’re hella lame🤣
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ we are all certainly welcome to have an opinion. Yours doesn't affect mine. I bought the 5N over the weekend. Fun ride! My last car was a convertible so I will always appreciate the OPTION of seeing the sky while I drive.
Happy trolling. 🙄
The fake engine noise can at least be turned off.......unlike in some modern day gas enthusiast cars.
In 2-3 years when all the electric cars are quick, quiet and smooth, you'll need something to make it stand out and hyundai took a chance.
It’s a video that you can ride and drive
Hopefully we will outgrow the sound effects.
Real life video game
Seems like a great macthup to a Model 3 Performance, even though this Hyundai weighs about 700lbs more.
The Kia Ev6 whipped the Tesla so this will destroy it.
@@rodismrnobody But the EV6 GT was not quicker than the model 3 and still weighs considerably more.
ioniq 5 is more like Y equivalent. model 3 would be ioniq 6
My Tesla is very fun to drive.
Why can't they design a swappable battery? Especially for track. 🤷🏻♂️
Formula E used to swap cars mid race during the first few seasons. But with improvements to capacity and Regen, they no longer need to do that.
The car charges under 18 minutes, the swap does not take that much less for now (looking at NIO swaps)
As far as EVs go, Hyundai makes the best looking ones. But I’ll never get behind fake engine noise.
You should try and track it with both - without sound and with sound. I bet your breaking would be more efficient with the sound even if you prefer for it to be off.
This video is like 2 months late....
Does the commentator buy clothes at pep boys
Talking about this ev like all the others are slow. What planet is this guy from?
Just to give you an idea of what this car is capable of. This car, with a maximum output of 641 horsepower, was only 20 seconds slower on the Nordschleife than the Model S Plaid( with track pack ).
@@Dqtube20 secs is a lifetime
Does the battery replacement still cost $60,000?
it doesnt cost 60k to replace the battery.
@@chrism869 how do you know?
well cause no battery replacement costs that much
@@chrism869 false. Go look it up.
The story of the 60K replacement was, for one in Canadian dollars (so monopoly money) and was due to an impact that was so severe it pushed the protective plate so far up I. To the battery that the cooling system ruptured. The insurance wrote it off and paid out like any car would have with such severe damage. Try running over a log large enough to rip an engine out of a transmission and see if your insurance doesn't write off your car and the warranty won't pay out.
I don't know how many people will consider this, especially since Hyundai has another performance car (although not as fast) with an actual engine and transmission.
The people who will consider this are the ones who want a faster car. Regardless if it has an engine or not. It's pretty obvious.
@@stickyoxtail still a pile of junk
An even lower battery to the ground! Great, just what we wanted …$60K to replace the battery.
Very hypocritical. Really? A model 3P is not fun? A model S Plaid is not fun? This car might be more fun, but there are for sure other fun EVs.
I'm glad it can be turned off sound and power cut for fake gear changes. Fine if you want or like it but the benefit of performance EV is no gears, shifting up or down and smooth continuous power delivery. As much as I hate the drone of a CVT the lack of gear changes makes sense. Hyundai should offer a audible feedback without gear shifts being faked so there is added interaction and some sound related to speed for audibly connecting speed as an ICE vehicle has when approaching a corner.
65k? sorry but ill take a M2

I stand by what I said about the car. Insults won't change what I believe.
The fake noise is just a silly marketing and parlor trick. 🙄
And, it's only $70,000
I love my electric cars but that fake engine note, Rev counter and gears is just nonsense. It's useless for someone actually driving it
Agreed! That all seems so ridiculous to me. Would you not just buy an ICE car if you require those things? 🤷🏼♂️
You can turn it all off. That's the beauty of options.
Sigh. Someone get TFL some suction cup mounts so their journos can drive with both hands on the wheel and we can get some better in-car driving footage. "Ridiculously fast?" Really, how about some lap times? Top speeds, 0-60, range/battery capacity, ANYTHING concrete?!?! (I guess doing the math on my own here, decently quick Nurburgring lap times are, say around 8 minutes, Nathan tells us two laps before recharging at non-existent charging infrastructure at most U.S. tracks, so 16 minutes before the battery is dead? 20 minutes is the typical session time for HPDE track events.) I came away from this video only really understanding that it has a fake rev counter, fake engine noise for gear shift simulations and a rear wiper.

What is the gold standard car for you? And how far 5N deviated from it?
Driving a giant RC car. Technically, all electric cars are giant RC cars. That pipped in noise is lame and hopefully can be disengaged.
Cry HARDER
Okay man. When I was young RC cars were often gas. Now they are mostly electric because it’s better. RC stands for remote control and has nothing to do with fuel type.
@@AndrewPL5Actually nobody needs to cry cause these shits ain’t selling.😂
@@mrgurulittle7000 it's a N version, it's not meant to sell a lot. As any speciality vehicle. The regular model, however, is selling like crazy. Facts over feelings bud
So?
Not practical or convenient. Just an expensive golf cart with the a farting noise to fake it being a sports car.🤷♂️
Can you point me to the most practical sports car? And what counts as convenient for sports car?
@@dfd6787Pretty much anything else that doesn’t need to be charged up is more convenient.
@@mrgurulittle7000 Depends on living arrangements but charging at home is one of most convenient things you can get though? Imagine going to phone fill station to fill your phone.
@@dfd6787Going to the gas station for 5 mins is much easier and less frequent than waiting half an hour at the EV charging station. Yes, you can charge every time you get home, but you also can fill up at a petrol pump and not have to refill for as long as a week.
@@mrgurulittle7000 The interesting aspect of it is that you dont even think about it, you just wake up with car having full tank over night. Going to tank becomes inconvenience, because you still need window fluid from time to time. The 5min tank (at least where I live) is a myth, you spend at least 15-ish mins if not more considering tank is a detour with extra stop. Roadtrips with EV suck though for now, away from home it is a gamble if you will get to charge and how fast. Ideally it shuold take no more than 15mins too, but we are far from it for now.
What a stupid car

Fake noise. No thank you.
The noise is optional
