    Best video ever!!! I wish you would do more videos on the actual cutting of fabric and how to cut the 3 yd backing. I bought three of your quilt kits and have actually struggled to get them cut out. Now mind you, I AM A BEGINNER so I’m sure others would think I’m dense or something because I struggled with the directions. Since I don’t know all the tips and tricks of sewing I find the directions rather sparse for my very visual learning style. That’s why I actually learn the best seeing you demonstrate... then I can understand the patterns better. The timing on this video is perfect because I am to the point of trying to get the backing on correctly and I was already worrying about the ‘economy binding’ 😊Thanks for your videos.

    Good idea putting the cover back on needle magic. That’s lots easier.

    Timely video! I have just finished sewing together my first Fabric Cafe 3-yard quilt top (Dominique in the pretty pink fabrics). I'm familiar with the 2.5 binding, but not the economy, and was about to read and learn from your written instructions; then, your video posted and showed just how easy it actually is! Thank you so much! Off now to quilt and bind. :)

    IMO this binding would be fine on something like a wall hanging. I've read many times from people who repair quilts that the binding wears out before anything else on the quilt. This method would only give one layer of fabric on the edge, which gets a lot of wear.

    Great tips. I sew.from left to right as I'm left handed. Always use the usual width now. I find it gives a firmer edge doubled over. If fabric tight I'll give this a go.👍🇦🇺

    Thanks for really great binding tips and tricks! Wish I found your videos and website 7 years ago when I started quilting. Do most of your 3-yard quilt patterns have enough fabric to make a regular 2-1/2" scrappy binding?

    • @FabricCafe
      @FabricCafe  Před 2 lety

      We give you enough to make the 1.25 strips, but the amount of fabric remaining after that varies according to the way the pattern is made. None would have anther 1/4 yard remaining. Donna

    Does the economy binding work with a thicker backing such as flannel or minky?

    • @FabricCafe
      @FabricCafe  Před 2 lety

      Hi Jennifer! The economy binding will work with flannel, however minky may be too thick in this case. - Fran

    do use a single thread to bind?

    • @FabricCafe
      @FabricCafe  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Sally! Yes, we use single thread for hand binding. Fran prefers to use a poly wrapped cotton, it's a very strong thread. She usually also chooses one that matches the binding strip. Hope that helps!
