I like this way cause it let's you turn over to the front ,and you do have more room to put that stich in the ditch alot more easier with the small amount of red color showing,it looks great. Thanks.
This might be five years old, but today is perfect for it to pop up on my feed as I finish up a baby and a toddler quilt. ... I love your tutorials!
Love how you teach , you cover every question that comes to mind.
This tutorial gives me confidence:)
Thank you!
I really love your teaching. You are very through and you are so good of what you do. Totally talented, kind, thoughtful, and beautiful. Thank you.
Donna. Sometimes there are not words that express why we are grateful. Thank you! Absolutely a work of art.
Watched several of your videos by now, and it amazes me that what took you probably years and years to learn, you are just generously sharing with anyone who wants to learn. That's such a sweet thing. Thank you for this tutorial. Be well.
I really enjoy watching you show how you cut, sew and design the projects. You have a great gift to be able to show others how to do every step. Thank you so very much Blanche
This method of binding is magic -- such precise work, but such a great finish -- thanks for showing us!
Well Donna , here I am again you're my #1 on explaining and showing how to do a flanged binding. This time I'm back getting a refresher for hubby's queen size quilt. Thank you so much for your presice instructions and videos.
WOW! This was eye popping to watch!! The colors, the technique, the quilt and THAT FLANGE are..... Well, beyond words. My hands and forearms were aching watching you muscle this around to create this beautiful piece of art. I just started quilting this year and have made several quilts using your videos + patterns. They've gone very well. I don't think I'm up for flange binding yet, but when I am, I know where to come. This quilt is STUNNING! Thank you Donna and team for all you do for us. Sending love, hugs and blessings from Seattle. XOXO
I have enjoyed watching and learning during this time of covid. Thank you do much from Victoria BC
Oh my goodness, thank you for this excellent tutorial. I create many red, white and blue quilts for our wounded veterans. I love the Stonehenge fabrics and I feel empowered to try a flange binding. Thank you so much!
Great job on the corners !!!We are so bless to have someone like you who will share your talents with us! Thanks a million!Eileen Jones
Another great NEW TECHNIQUE learned today! I love it.........contrast always makes a quilt so much more interesting!
Thank you Donna!!
Donna, I Love your techniques. This one gets my #1 vote for flange binding. It looks great and not difficult to do. You ARE the best teacher and fabric shop owner. You show us how to do everything with quilts (SEW) perfectly. :)
Donna, your instructions are so precise and easy to understand that you have inspired me to step “out of the quilting box” and try something new! Thank you for the enthusiasm you bring to every project!
Have watched this tutorial many times over....
This evening i sewed my first flange binding on a quilt!
It has been a wonderful learning curve and the result is amazing!
Thankyou Donna for the inspiration!
Donna is a godsend! Excellent instructions!
You are a Superior teacher! Thank you for giving us courage to try something new.
Every time I watch you, I feel so empowered to try.
You are so special. 💐
I’ve watched about ten tutorials on this subject, but not until yours did it become clear to me exactly how to do this. Your explanations and your close up shots did the trick! Very grateful. Thank you!
Always learning something new from you Donna! It never gets old.
I also love how you put your binding on the back, not the front first. That's how I do it. It makes the quilt look so much better when you do it that way. I'm not one for hand stitching the binding.
I’m going to try this..... Quilting for a long time, but you have given me the courage to try😉
Coming back to this tutorial so I can add a flange binding on a fall-themed mug rug. Thanks for the great tutorial!
LOVE how you staggered the joining seams, and especially how you seamed the main and flange fabric separately and then re-joined them.
Love your tutorials! You are an excellent teacher! You explain everything so well. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I've never seen a flange binding demonstrated or 'in-the-making', until this video ... learned allot. Thank-you so much. I will be giving this one a try ... maybe on some place-mats first ... haha ... Got to go a little at a time. I am fairly new to quilting. Purchased quite a bit of fabric from yall several months ago, then my machine went down before it came in (the same week) ... to much going on at the time ... but I finally purchased a new machine and will be getting back into sewing/quilting again very soon. Watching all of the Jordan Videos and learning daily. Keep it up ... doing a great job! Thank-you for sharing your time and talent freely. God bless you and yours.
Incredible teacher! I have learned so much from Donna, after my years of quilting I didn't thin I could learn much more but I was so wrong. I ordered the kit for this step ladder quilt a while ago but haven't gotten around to putting it together yet; seeing this wonderful video inspires me to get moving on it very soon. Of all the quilting tutorials I have watched by so many others, no one does it better than Donna. Thank you so much.
WOW! I know my comment is two years later, but I am very amazed at the process you went through to make that flange. A bit tedious, but well worth it . Beautiful and classy!
This is just a wonderful tutorial. I can’t wait to try the technique. I will make one change- when topstitching on the front and approaching the corner, I always fold the bottom portion of binding up first, then form my mitered corner. This puts the fold angles in the opposite directions front and back, and makes it easier to sew that corner because the front fold is going in the same direction as you are sewing, so not fiddly at all to get to the corner. (Hard to explain lol)
Donna you are just so good at bindings!!! I really enjoy watching you!!
Wow, the tiny flange border made a huge impact in the finished quilt! Thanks for sharing this video!
Good idea to unsew the two strips and stagger the joints! Thank you! 💜💛💚💙💜💛💚💙
June 2020 still loving your video. Bristol Tennessee R2
TOTALLY love how you got your corners perfectly matched . thanks for the inspiration x
Just reviewed this tutorial. Very helpful and the camera work is exceptional!!
I've never seen a Flange binding before, very beautiful & you made it look so easy. Thank You, the quilt is beautiful ❤️🧵🪡
Wow! Magnificent quilt!! Donna, I have learned so much from watching your videos and I only discovered you about 3 weeks ago! I've started the finger pressing and you are so right about it making the later pressing so much easier and accurate. Also, your binding videos, including this one with the flange, are all excellent! I am definitely one for machine sewn binding and you have it down to an art!! Thanks so much!! Wish you were closer to Maryland!!
Binge watching all your video. You make it look so easy. Thank you for the tutorials, very helpful.
Stopping in for a refresher on doing the flanged binding. I'll be putting it on a baby/crib sized quilt for my hubby's first great grand daughter.
Love the quilt! You do such great work, it's always a pleasure to watch your videos. And I really like that the openings of each video are different, different intro, different music it makes it fun.
An amazing tutorial Ms. DONNA!
Only you could teach this concept and make it seem doable.
Thankyou!
Connie🐝
Thanks Donna, for another great lesson, it's wonderful to have my own personal teacher. you are the best.
Thanks for all your careful, easy to follow instructions!
Finally got the miter lay out. Thank you for being so clear in your description.
Wow... THANKS! I always learn a lot from your videos! And not always when you're talking! The way you SHOW how to do things helps just as much, if not more, than talking through it. The combination of the two just totally explains everything! :) Thanks Donna!
This tutorial is surely going to help me put the binding on the quilt.
Donna, I just finished a flange binding, I wished I had seen this first. Your instructions are always so easy to understand. The quilter has the quilt now, can’t wait to get it back. Thank you for such great instructions. 🌷🙋♀️
Really clear instructions for a beautiful finish! Thank you.
Again and again, you teach me just what I want to learn. So grateful and thankful for you.
I think it's great how you explain something. To reconnect both colors individually: perfect!
Thank you thank you !! I just did this very binding today. !! I was stuck how to join the binding. Now I know !!! Perfect. Love all your videos Donna !!!! Texas here !!!!
I love this method. I use it more often then standard binding.
I just finished my little quilt, and the flange/binding turned out wonderfully! So neat and crisp - thank you so much (again!).
I've really enjoyed watching so many of your tutorials!! The placemats and napkins was right up my alley!! I love the smaller type projects, because I don't have alot of space. Thanks for great teaching!!
Thank you so much for another clear demonstration of sewing/quilting techniques. I LOVE a narrow binding such as this demo, and also wanted to use the flange effect with the binding.
Absolutely lovely! Perfect corners! I'm SO going to study this...mine are a hit and miss at times. Thank you for your time.
Never doing binding by hand again! Thanks for this tutorial.
Thank you for a great tutorial. As a seamstress. first and a beginning quilter, I find when I get my binding sewn on , either self binding or using the backing fabric to come around.....I press my binding in place and then I add a strip of wonder under and press well holding that binding right where I want it. So much easier to go to the machine and not have to work so hard holding and making my arms tired. Really takes no time at all to 'wonder' it in place as you press. At this point I only have to SEW not pull and hold. THANK you again!!!
I love the flange binding. You explained it so well. Thank you!
Love the flanged binding! It looks so nice!
Thank you. Donna. You are an awesome Teacher. I finally got it,,,,thanks to you,,,,,,God Bless. Love your programs. Lou
Beautiful job! Amazing! I will still use the mitered technique when joining the ends. Can't wait to use this on all my favorite quilts!
I just finished a baby quilt for my soon to be great great niece and I followed this video to make the binding. You are a fantastic instructor, Donna, and I could not have completely this type of binding without this video. Thank you so much, and keep these great videos coming
Thank you SO much! I followed along for my first flanged binding and now my finished quilt looks very professional.
That red peeking out like that looks lovely.
Your tutorials are so good and have really helped boost my skills. I've shared this one with countless friends. Looks so sharp and is deceptively easy. Thanks, Donna!

I just found this video.....I have to try this......amazing!! Thank YOU!!!!!
Yet another wonderful tutorial ! All aspects of your presentation are excellent - your camerawork, your step-by-step instruction, your clear and friendly diction … and more. I look forward to watching all your videos. Thank you!!
I tried this for first time - worked perfectly and beautifully! Even the corners were very good. Thank you.
I have done this so many times on quilts, runners, placemats etc. It just adds that something extra!
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial. I struggled with mitered edges on the bindings of my quilts. Just tried a small square using your technique and all corners mitered nicely.
I really like that, looks sharp! What a good teacher you are, thank you... Dino
Love the flange I’ve never heard of it until I started quilting again this year after a hiatus from quilting. Very cool
Wonderful once again Donna, the quilt is beautiful and I am really impressed with the way you joined the bindings to reduce the bulk when attaching them. You are always sharing wonderful ideas and patterns. Many thanks, Jess
Thank you, as said before, love your videos, informative, simple to understand, thanks again!!!
I really enjoy your lessons - you are clear, succinct and the video is exceptional. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing. I love the flange! It kicks the binding up a notch!
I love this quilt. I also want you to know I love all your tutorials and your patterns. I plan to make this quilt for my Cousins Wife she was in the Army and was in Iraq. It will be my quilt of Valor for her.
Thanks again..
Kim
I also do Quilts of Valor and will do this one soon...love it!! You do a super job as teacher, Donna!! 💞
I've seen the look of the flange binding used on pillow cases before, but not on a quilt. It looks great and frames it beautifully. Love all the little tips and close-ups. This is one I will have to give a try. Thank-you so much ... you are a great instructor!
This was such a joy to watch! I'm going to try that some time soon. Thank you for this tutorial! Very well done!
It is perfect and I like the taylored look on with the flanged binding. Thank you.
Beautiful finish binding! Thanks for sharing this tutorial!
Masterfully explained and demonstrated! Thanks, Donna.
Absolutely love the entire quilt, the fabric selection is wonderful and then that fabulous flange binding is the bomb!
Wow another great video, you really need an award for teaching of sewing because we learn so much I know I do. Must praise your camera person also for getting in close when needed and for doing such a great job. Thank you so much for your videos 😀
