Game 5 of the 2010 series between the LA Lakers and Phoenix Suns presented a crossroads. As time expired, the Lakers had one last chance to win, and in doing so, avoid the infamy of a terrible collapse. The Suns, meanwhile, could force overtime, steal a victory, and perhaps make an unexpected run to the Finals.
Let's visit that moment. Kobe Bryant has the ball. Everyone's mad at (the man formerly known as) Ron Artest. Steve Nash and Jason Richardson just made miracles for the Suns. What's on everyone's mind? What happens next? Before we find out, let's rewind.

This is why I love rewind, especially about moments I don't know. NEVER would have expected that ending
It’s funny for me because when I started watching rewind it was moments that I didn’t really know the backstory of.
This I remember VIVIDLY though.
@icetredotnet6473 I remember it but don't know backstory
Except that you should have because why else would he have gone so in-depth on Ron Artest 😂
@@Shmuel420 haha as someone who doesn't know basketball that much I thought this was going to be the story of why he messed up the whole finals run for them
@@mrwizardalien most rewinds aren't hit-pieces on why a player sucks lmfaoooo, but I'm glad you were surprised
The "Chuck Person's name being a violent command" joke took me a second, but man did I laugh when I got it
That one caught me like 2 seconds later and I had to pause to give it the laugh it deserved
Can u explain
@@Lachronix "chuck" is another word for throw or toss. So "Chuck Person" is another way to say "throw someone".

AND I SHOT A THREE

HE PASSED

Kobe & Ron celebrating like that will forever bring a tear to my eye
I know many people talk about Kobe and Pau’s performances through the 2010 Playoffs but Ron Artest was an amazing depth piece during their run as well.
Kobe had arguably his worst performance in the finals of the 5 he won in 2010, Pau deserved finals MVP and without Ron obviously don’t even make the finals. I mean 6/24 in game 7? And you don’t hit the game winner it’s tough look
@sammysabo6777 yea he didn't play well and Lakers he was bailed out when they gave Lakers like 20 Free throws
@@sammysabo6777 "without Ron obviously don’t even make the finals" Suuuure. 11.5 ppg on 41% shooting in the first 3 rounds. Believe me Artest was a downgrade from Ariza. And no, Pau did not deserve the FMVP. 18/10 for six games does not beat 30/7/4.
@@sammysabo6777dude chill, he had a bad game 7 but that finals he was literally lights out. One bad game doesnt make the finals performance poor.... do some research
@@rjmacready9828 phuuqqyo reseerch. kobe got bailed out
One of the reasons why this one was such a gut-ripper was because of how special that Suns team is. Basically a “begged, borrowed and busted” roster of young misfits and stars on the decline (including STAT) who came together to things that felt impossible against vastly superior teams.
The loss didn’t just end that run, it led to yet another PHX Little Dark Age. Ironic, being that we’re probably on the cusp of another one.
Still remember Nash crying in the locker room after PHX lost this series
Listening to Marv Albert saying Ron Artest as if he couldn't believe what just happened. Unbelievable
Sounds like Artest always played hard and with intense passion which paid off immensely in this moment. He's the only player that's actively going for the ball while everyone else assumes that a miss will just lead to OT. His defender is much more lackadaisical in corralling the rebound which is why he gets boxed out
Thank you for uploading this moment. As a Laker fan, this moment was so critical on the way to the 2010 title. It swung the momentum in our favour. Artest being clutch in this game, and the shot he hit in game 7 vs Boston will always be remembered
Arrest saved the season twice along with Pau in round 1 hitting the series winner. This team did not have a bus driver just a bunch of gritty tough bus riders doing it as a team. I still believe Pau should have won finals MVP
@@sammysabo6777 implying Kobe wasn't the bus driver is kinda wild.
Life long Celtics fan here and even though we lost i really miss those days.
Literally illogical how much disrespect Kobe gets.
it's funny how you mention artest's history with the lakers. i fondly remember him showing his heart and defensive prowess in the finals, and even before that i personally was excited to hear in the 09 offseason that he was on the lakers. now he would be using that defense to help kobe and pau instead of making life difficult for them. but youre right, after the malice in the palace, he never really shed his "bad guy" persona, and even when he came to the lakers, he was treated as an odd man out by many fans. i distinctly remember friends in high school saying "he will never be trevor ariza."
but damn, did he redeem himself. showed us exactly how good his defense was during every round of the playoffs, picked up the slack when kobe and others werent shooting so well in game 7 vs boston (including the dagger 3 that everyone remembers), and perhaps most importantly, made this miracle buzzer beater . history couldve remembered him totally different had he not scored here.
2008 National Championship game. Kansas vs Memphis. Mario's Miracle deserves a Deep Rewind.
Your God Damn Right!!
Instantly watching. This 2010 postseason run is one of my all time favorites
and then he buried a 3 to ice game 7 in the finals against the Celtics... Ron is forever loved in LA! Had the pleasure of meeting him, very cool guy!
I definitely remember this for sure. Another clutch moment that propeled by belover Lakers to back-to-back championship with a 7-game series win over the Celtics.
Ron was such a big part for our title run not only with this one but also a huge to put Boston away.
That 2010 playoff run was redemption for Artest after the Malice at the Palace
@@CasterShellz Absolutely.
This n the finals game seven was my personal nine eleven
Artest was so good in that game 7.
RIP Kobe, you are awesome
Any new deep rewind is an INSTANT watch
As a Suns fan who grew up in this era, it's still a top 5 gut wrenching moment for a "what could have been" with the playoffs.but Still nothing will ever top the Robert Horry incident and bs suspensions
Nicholas Castellanos' rise to meme popularity needs a deep rewind!
In a decade, they’ll do “BRYCE HARPER, THE SWING OF HIS LIFE” and that makes me happy enough
No, there will never be a deep rewind for that as there's a drive into deep left field by Castellanos, it will be a home run. And so that will make it a 4-0 ballgame.
Ron Artest was special in 2010. I missed that Lakers roster too!
Nothing reminds me of Father Time than hearing a sports star being called old while being in their early 30’s 😢
Hard to believe this moment was 14 years ago, time does really fly. RIP Kobe. 🙏
I think I was so shocked about that final sequence that I didn't even remember that Artest bungled things up so badly in the previous possession. Breaks the hearts of Suns' fans but it makes for a hell of a story
That's why Meta still has a home in LA. He has his place enshrined in Laker lore. Great sports story.
This and the Celtics shot
Don't forget about that elbow to the head of James Harden 💪🏼💀😂
This moment was basically the Lakers’ revenge for the Tim Thomas shot in Game 6 of the 2006 WCR1
The series where the Lakers blew a 3-1 lead to the Suns
That Series There Is The Exact Reason Why Kobe Can’t Make My Top 5 😂
I was waiting for them to mention the Thomas shot, saw it live it was like reliving a nightmare
@@Andrewmehr_So many Lakers fans were in fear that the Jason Richardson bank three was deja vu all over again
The situation and the way the possession played out was eerily similar to that clutch Tim Thomas three four years earlier
Artest played the role of savior though
@@MXRVINBXNKZHow does one series automatically make Kobe not able to be a top 5 player
@@MXRVINBXNKZ Okay, and losing the first round this year and getting swept last year is why LeBron can never be top 5. You see how insane this sounds?
Ron Artest rebounding the air ball and putting it back in for the win was the saddest I’ve ever been as a sports fan. The 2010 Suns were my favorite basketball team of all time
The 2010 Suns were better than any D'antoni version of the squad
Ha ha
@@arizonaFIREent And the 2022 Suns were better than both of them. Until Luka showed up.
@@arizonaFIREentidk I think 07-08 suns was super tough to
please can you do a rewinder of Kobe's game winner against the Suns in the 2006 playoffs. its still my favorite game winner of all time.
I love the deep rewind series. Keep them coming. Maybe you could do a rewind on the 2023 Cotton Bowl between USC and Tulane, and what has to be the greatest late game collapse in college football history.
"Chuck person... a man who's very name is a violent command" had me laughing so hard
Secret Base is allergic to putting out a bad video
Except when Clara narrates
Torn between my love for SB and hatred for the Lakers. Might have to save this for when I'm constipated and need to push with more force.

Seth + my top 3 moments in Lakers history = ❤
As a Suns fan, it was not lost on me that we shouldn't have even been there... and I'm used to them underachieving, I mean look what just took place 😅
As a Suns fan, it was only a matter of time until this game made it up here 💔
Broke my heart all over again, but it was a beautiful retelling 🔥
Thanks for giving Gentry the love he deserves, and for showcasing the Ron Artest Interactive Fan Experience (tm) as well
Loved it. As a long time Pacers fan who always wanted Ron to get a ring, I was so happy when he got one
i’m so glad yall did this, watching this game as a kid, memories man
So dope. Can’t script that ending any better. I love these rewinds, keep up the excellent work! 💪🏼🔥🔥🔥
Was not ready for the chuck person joke, almost died choking on bong rip!
Best channel ever! Always look forward to these uploads
Damn, didnt know how hard it was going to be to watch Kobe in his heyday again. From a life long Celtics fan, the world really misses you Black Mamba.
Bruh i love watching rewind 💯🔥 been a fan of the game for years and still play pickup ball. As someone who likes to break down thr game its always fun to see back stories and what not of certain games and moments 💯
Thank you bro that beautiful memory bro😢
I love this channel so much because as a basketball sérvant, I feel like I should of known about this moment in history… I had no idea this is how this game ended. Thank you! Genuinely surprised I’ve never seen this before.
So much of how I experience sports and the stories that come out of it have been informed by amazing storytelling like this about moments I personally didn't even know about. Thank you guys for all that you do and continuing to be such a big part of why I love sportsball
2010 was the last year of Kobe's prime. After winning the title last year and proving he could lead the Lakers to a title w/out Shaq, he could have had every reason to be satisfied, but he came back into the next season hungry for another one.
As far as Ron, for those who watched that entire season and playoff up till this game, he had kind of an up and down year in LA. I honestly thought Trever Ariza from the previous year's title team was a slightly better fit, but when in the most important games of that playoff run (this game, game 6 against PHX, and game 7 against Celtics) Ron showed up! So glad to see him get a title after all he went through (And put himself through).
Ron shooting that shot @ 1 min left off a offensive rebound is NUTS💀💀but he made up for it in this game & game 7 ✊🏽💯
I didn’t hesitate subscribing on Patreon for a sec. It’s really cool that you maintain the quality while also producing exclusive content.
I was in highschool when this happened. Lakers fans were more die hard back then.
Facts
I totally remembered this game!
That last few minutes were pretty epic 🔥
As a laker fan Seeing those smiles at the end of Bynum, Metta, and Lamar Odom but most importantly seeing Kobe made me 😢
RIP bean
God this game gave me anxiety. We blew a big lead to Phoenix and they tied it. This was finally our chance our demons in the WCG and we were blowing it. Artest put up an ill advised 3 which backfired which pissed everyone off. Kobe was perfectly defended. Then Artest muscled for the rebound and got the last second put back and the rest was history.
The next series against Boston was even more stressful but that was peak of being a young Laker fan for me.
God that was an amazing title run for us man! A real one for the ages. It really submitted the legacy of Kobe. Man we'll never be the same dude. We won in 2020 but it felt so weak compared to past championships
Rewind and Beef are so consistently good.
Great job as always 🎉
YES! I remember this from when I was a kid. AMAZING ending. Thanks for finally having a moment I saw live.
I didn't see that coming, holy cow. What a cool video.
Between the shots he missed before and Duncan's shot before Fisher's miracle, I was certain I had two strokes at different times in my young life.
Great rewind. Horrible moment for us Suns fans.
Unfortunately we've had many
I remember watching the ending live. As a Steve Nash fan, I was shocked with the ending of this game
Every one of those Ron Artest-MWP seasons was a roller coaster ride. The guy could play a great game and throw it all away at any moment with some real head scratching decisions.
For real, just ask James Harden 😂
You guys are killing it! Quality over quantity. Please don't stop making these.
Live in the flesh, Ron Artest.
What a video man, nicely done!
This moment absolutely shattered the heart of me as a young suns fan
These videos are always so cool, you guys do a great job!!! Please though i’m begging for more hockey content, i think Patrick Kane’s 2010 cup winning goal would make an excellent rewinder
Gosh dam those 08-12 laker teams being a tear to me every time. Gasol for essentially kwame brown is hands down one the greatest mid season trades in any sport. RIP KOBE. You made my childhood watching basketball memorable. Lakers for life 🙏🤙🏼
Every time you say “welcome to moment of history.” It always makes have goosebumps.
I remember watching this game! On my feet the whole time
Brings back great memories 💯
You're killing Suns nation with this one Seth
I forgot all about this shot.. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!!
Love this page❤
Love these videos
Like a famous saying currently goes...
Ron Artest went from Undesirable to Undeniable in one play.
Damn, this video brings back memories as this was the first NBA playoff series I've fully watched the Suns play as a 11 years old Suns fun, Ron Artest crushed my spirit so hard on that day :(
as a Suns fan during this time, this re-opened wounds! Great Episode!
Kobe playing thru those injuries is so crazy to me… rip mamba! No one in todays game would do it like you
feel good youtube video is at the palm of my hands!
When you know the story, its great
When someone tells it better than you can, its amazing
This episode was out of this world🔥🔥
I watch that game live I followed Kobe's whole career rest in peace black mamba, that was a badass Phoenix Suns team
“Top 5 in Pace;
#1 in Offense;
#1 in 3pt Shooting;
Who-gives-a-shit-about-defense?
54 wins.
We are so BACK”
New mantra just dropped
This is Suns heritage
Ill never get how yall do it. You make a 15 minute video about 3 seconds of a basketball game, and I'm fully hooked the entire time.
I instantly turned my eyes to J Rich right when it started. I'm not a fan of either team, but I'll never forget this happening.
one of the best so far
I remember this game just from the interview immediately afterwards on-court. The lady asked Ron Artest why he took the shot, and, in true Ron-Ron fashion, he gave some nonsense "I don't know, I don't care about the time left I was just feeling it, when you feel it you let it fly" or something like that, lol
Seth over everything. GOAT!
Incredible video.
That’s the happiest I seen Kobe ❤
tbh those shots Ron took are perfectly legit and common in todays game, really shows how game has been evolved
As a Suns fan who’s seen just about every possible way in how to lose, whether it be horrible 20 win seasons or losing 4 straight in the finals, this was a gut punch
I've watched this game on live TV when I was in high school. Suns tying the series 2-2 were phenomenal work
I think I missed one of those game winning shots that year and couldn't believe my eyes on that put back by Artest. One of my favorite Lakers seasons in my lifetime.
I don't know if the video has already been made. But then the game seven shot against boston ron is a legend
that was amazing
gotta love the irony that artest comes through clutch by REBOUNDING and a put back, not the out of pocket 3s he was always told to not launch lol
Great video
Best set-up ever for WTAMIH. Bravo.
I'll never forget watching this live. Ron Artest threw the game away I felt. Then redeemed himself with that game winner. This rewind was fantastic.
That was a great, great memory.
The Lakers would win Game 6 two nights later on May 29, 2010.
After the Suns lost the 2010 Western Conference Finals, they would go into a major freefall that ultimately lasted throughout the entire 2010s decade.
Suns would not visit the playoffs for 11 years.
Yea they covered that last year
