  • This is Spiritual Studies session #23. This session gives you a full broad understanding of Pythagoras, what he did, what he inspired, and what beliefs he espoused in the ancient world.
The first part of the talk is all about Pythagoras the man, later his influence in the philosophical. spiritual, religious, and scientific realms.
Lastly, the talk broadly discusses the effects of occult traditions, secret societies, and the like, tying Pythagoras's Brotherhood to the Hermeticism, Freemasonry and all manner of initiatory rites.

excellent introduction! Might I add an addendum: To the question of Pythagoras' aversion to eating beans.. Whatever scholarly opinions are referenced in this video are more than likely right, I think it's important to add in another perspective, albeit one from a questionable source. Manly P. Hall writes in his book Lectures on Ancient Philosophy "One of the symbolic aphorisms of Pythagoras enjoined the disciple to abstain from the eating of beans. In its literal sense there is seemingly no reason whatsoever for the admonition. Among the Greeks, however, beans were used in gambling and various games of chance, and the esoteric purpose of the admonition was to discharge man's reliance upon auspicious fortune; for he who cosigns himself to the vagaries of chance in reality rests his fate upon his own integrity."

My man, thank you SO much for this. I've been seeking the link between the mathematical aspects of pattern formation, expression and the so called spiritual side of things for years now. It makes so much sense that the philosophical, mystical side of the topic in question was stripped away, presumably to favor utilitarian-industrial goals.

Meaning in more explicit terms - that the secret society that was practicing and using the Hermetic treatises that we now call today the corpus hermetica was the pythagoreans and the neopythagoreans. I loved how you express this in your video because it's the obvious conclusion. However I was hoping you could add something more in your explanation of why you think that is the situation. Otherwise great video you covered all the important aspects of this huge figure so that people can see how important it is and why they should pursue further research. Reincarnation is like being born into a new body. Whereas transmigration is more like; the best analogy I've heard is the soul is like a radio signal and we're like radios you break one radio the signal isn't gone. It just finds the next closest version of you. I'm not a scholar on these ideas and theories so really I'm just giving you food for thought. Something to look into. Great presentation, but one small quibble - bees do NOT make hexagonal honeycombs.
As you would expect they actually make circular ones. But the activity in the hive raises a temperature enough to melt the wax, and when the lattice structure reforms it does so in a hexagonal pattern because this is the most geometrically stable (this is also why if you put a lot of bubbles together on your countertop or something you will see that they form intersections at straight line instead of the expected curves). No doubt still impressive and a demonstration of natural law but the bees aren't _quite_ smart enough to have figured that out on their own.

You will find references to mysticism with Isaac Newton, not just him thou... many scientists, philosophers as they were called, would pass their hypothesis to the forces unknown to say at least. Sources and understanding were then related to the reason or whatever else they were prone to give the most of the merit. Newtons Principia is Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica. He sets his thesis and says then that they are pretty much mystical. Greatness with them is that they give great (better) explanations.

The Pythagoreans, as we call them, certainly did eat meat in the early times of their development, but only that which had been purified through sacrifice to the gods (the later generations are reported to have abstained entirely). Irrational numbers did not exist and such concepts were considered an abomination. Only the purity of rational, positive integers with divine reticent powers underpinned all creation. Needless to say and according to legend Pythagoras himself, that great, enobled, pacifist, philosopher, murdered one of his own followers who proved the existence of the square root of two using Pythagoras's own, accredited, theorem. It is reported that they took him out on a boat and drowned him at sea.

Actually you haven't dug deep enough and following the superficial distortions created by those trying to use it as a system to reconcile everything that is fundamentally opposed. You mention these things without even recognizing it.
It all comes down to its core four rules ad a unspoken fifth.
    1) Infinity cannot be represented so the first shape is simply to isolate the patters produced within.
    2) Mind/Soul is represented by a single dot.
    3) Straight Lines are male/masculine.
    4) Curved Lines are female/feminine.
    5) The unspoken fifth rule is all patterns are composed of pure impersonal spirit/energy.
Properly following Sacred Geometry and you have Quadrotheism at its foundation. The first shape created is an Octahedron, a purely male shape in this system. On its center it can rotate on 3 axes that at 180 degrees each forming 3 equatorial rings as parameters for 3 spheres. From it are created not one but Three Purely female shapes simultaneously.
The core principle is "The One" having become self formed from the unknowable by his one will, and the Three are the result of reversing the self creation process creating three coequal, con-substantial and cooperative female counterparts.
In short, One God and three Goddesses as the true Divine Unity.
That's why Medieval sources proclaimed Sacred Geometry "evil and a counterfeit" to the trinity, or for others a counterfeit to their Yahuah and Allah.
Most so called monotheistic and occult sources only acknowledge one ring to try and force fit it into a monotheistic or duo-theistic narrative. They have to break the processes to try and make their imposed nonsense and rhetoric work loosely but cannot convert it following these proper processes to connect the non-physical with the physical .
This is the actual basis behind later medieval inventions of "The Devil having three She-Devil Consorts" representing a prior polytheism.
