  • This is Spiritual Studies session 61.
Altogether unmentioned in the course thus far, this session dedicates itself toward giving a ground for understanding the ideas and spiritual context of alchemy. This is not a deep dive into symbolism or the more technical aspects, there are many components of this study that are left unmentioned. However, this session will be a great reference point toward understanding future sessions on secret societies and more arcane subject matter and spiritual traditions.
Book Sources will be added later.

No offense, but this is easily the best lecture thus far. After studying this subject on my own for nearly a year, I have never come across a greater nutshell for a topic with vast definitions and interpretations. This is an incredible inspiration to enlightenment through self realization. I cannot wait for the next installment, as well as follow-ups on the first Taoist "pope" and the obfuscation of the early "Church", perhaps?? Lol. "The charlatans pee in the pool for everyone" pretty sure this is applicable to the previous discussion on astrology!

No offense taken, in general, I feel I've been improving as a researcher and as a speaker as the course goes forward, though I will say I still have a deep place in my heart for the Shapeshifting and Chimera lecture. This session has been long due and breaks alot of doors open for later subjects.
As mentioned, I'm really infatuated with making a looonng session dedicated to dunking on the corruption of the church. The daoist pope in certainly a curious lead, I feel taoism will certainly come back into the course, maybe even as soon as next session (hint hint).
Yes, the pissing in the pool as it applies to astrology and the occult in whole, much to say there. It's fair to say that the gold is often found in cultural taboos, in subjects long thought dismissed.

@@cgdahlin honestly, all of your lectures are much appreciated and have all lead to greater discovery of Gnosis through the dissemination of spiritual taboo. This one just hits home due to the start of my own journey and the breaking down of those barriers. Homerun!

no offense but i dont think even you truly understand how brillant this pod is! the last bit of self improvement and the trappings of narcissim and holier than thou attitudes, if more people could hear this message it could really help them from years of pain and self delusion, instagram is feeding into this negative psychology and the dicotomy between these people who try to be perfect and the kids who feel like there never good enough, never part of the group, anyways great talk sorry for spelling.

I haven't seen it written anywhere, but the Black Land is a reference to fertile soil, or more specifically Fertile Soil (as a sacred metaphor). Alchemy can therefore be takes to mean as "that which comes from the Fertile Soil". Remember that the soul is the seed that "cums" into the material (cognate with mater, mother) form in order to animate life (the child)... The three parts of the knowledge of the whole world of which Hermes speaks.
Alchemy is That which arises from this Fertility, the act of the universe perpetually coming into being as the soul focuses its attention on the material realm. Through experimentation, the Asians have found the best approach: if you flow with the Tao, the Tao flows with you.
In order to do that though, you must cast off the lead that life has piled into your gold. This cannot be done instantaneously, and the lead that life has piled on you first needs to be placed in the proper context through various stages of realisation. The proper context can only be ascertained once one realises that our souls are God's Light shining through us, and therefore everything that happens in our lives are gifts from God aimed at assisting in our enlightenment, and not a series of tragedies as the ego would portray it.
The mind needs to be purified because the ego is addicted to self-pity...
The Philosopher's Stone is solid because nothing else can be removed from it. All things "other" have been detached and the thing stands by itself in its own essence. Remember that the light of the soul (sulphur) reflects off of the living mirror ("quick" in quicksilver means living, like "be quick or be dead") producing the salt that is the illusion of Maya in the Buddhist tradition.

Can I request a follow up?
Taoism is often described as Asian Alchemy. Can you do a video where you examine the concept of Ma'at/Dharma/Tao? All of these can be translated as Law or the way/order of the world. The concept of Dharma leading to Enlightenment also puts it in line with alchemic thought (Asians call it "Awakening", the term "enlightenment" comes from the Western Mystery traditions)

I would without question want to hire you at the school I would like to start.
Not sure what your background or experience is.
That being said, you have obviously done your due diligence with respect to digging deep into your research.
As if that weren't enough... you then have a phenomenal presentation, well structured... connecting everything with an easily understood and the most naturally pleasant expression of which allows us as listeners to thoroughly enjoy the process of learning.
    Gratitude
