Is CZcams uploading bugged again with the 360?
Hello
No I just uploaded it. It will fix itself soon
@@PixelatedApollo1 ok nice, but otherwise it would still be worth it to wait for a Rome Total war battle.
Thank you have I happy St. Patrick's Day to and love ypur videos

@Ken Penalosa Kinda a stereotype but certainly not Sparta. Sparta was the most authoritarian civilization you would've seen; no room for those rights
"Sir, we're surrounded"
"Good, no matter what way we face we have enemies to kill"
Gag
We fight to the last man
"Sir, we are surrounded!"
"Good, because when we win we dont have to find the remaining enemy."
Dear Shinobu said like a true spartan
“Good now we can attack in all directions”
Dude that was heroic. props to that dude doing every possible thing to survive and win , put up a ferocious battle

Spartains are op when i was playing rome total war with rome, i was attacking sparta and they had 3 units i had 6 and all 6 ran away, with a 1 single unit alive with like 4 people in it,it pissed me off
Yes the Germans really did do that....
Oh wait....
Wrong thing....
And they LOST?
Oh.
Ok.
Yes, they lost.......

what the hell are you talking about my guy.
Matty the Killa
It’s a joke, _my guy_
🤨
I think instead of giving the control to the AI, they should give it to the guy who is not Afk
I've seen some games where there is "take" functionality, where you can select some units from an AFK player, and claim them as your own. Probably my favorite implementation for dealing with AFK players.
@@300fans yess it would be fair for everyone
With Total War, though, you would need to keep morale tied to the original general for the troops you take. Otherwise people would exploit it to keep morale up after someone's general dies.
But how would they handle it if its 3v3? And one of the players are afk which of the not afks get the units?
@@foxtrothermite6499 That is exactly why you use the "take" functionality instead of giving the units to players randomly. Players have to manually select and choose which units they want to become theirs. If no one takes units, the units just sit there until someone does. You do not take the entire army, just the few units that you choose to take, or the entire army if you choose so.
Sparta: Right, so I'm gonna go deal with these Romans-
Armenia: But what do I do?
Sparta: Sit there and look cute little dude.
Armenia: Ok papi.
Rome: i am going to win
Sparta: yes, you are, but let me make you sustain heavy casualties and make your army shatter, while killing off your most prized troops, and turning the place into a bloodbath, also maybe killing off more troops, and when you have won, you will look at the battlefield with despair knowing that you'll never get those men back, and maybe even get PTSD, and when you go to sleep, every warrior whom been slain will scream and haunt you
That's what made the battle of Thermopylae such a win. Even though the Spartans were defeated, the tens of thousands of casualties and the time wasted were crucial for Persia, and also why the following battles were a victory for Greece.
Now that is what is known as a Pyrrhic victory
@@thetemplar6586 Its also known as a Kadmian victory from Hellenen city and the Thebean mythological cicle.
let us fight wars with no survivors
Lmao even if Rome won they kinda lost. If they return back home the people will thought they lost because they saw a bunch of ptsd messes
Rome: Attacks spartan general
Sparta:Routes five or more units of romans
Rome: NO thats not how ur suppose to play the game
Never attack Spartans head on.
When you talked about the never quit attitude it reminded me of a battle where I made a glorious comeback, and I was thinking to myself that I'll have to send you a replay but then someone quit.

@@BigAl2-u7e Napoleon did not expect that the scorched earth strategy of the Russians especially when it was winter would be very effective. He did conquer Moscow, unlike Hitler you know. But with the scorched earth strategy and the vastness of Russia, it was too difficult to maintain the supply lines.

Cool. Didn't care about the history lesson though.
Actually its a paraphrase of Alexander the great phrase:"Nothing is impossible for the one who tries"
@@engr_qt7093 aight bro, we don't want the history lesson. thanks anyway bye
The never give up attitude reminds me of how I was playing Pontus and I was fighting Egypt and Sparta alone, then I killed off Egypt, and took out half of the Spartan army despite my entire team begging me to forfeit
Lol go out like Davey Crocket "I'm a real screamer" hahaha
in my first ever campaign of Rome 2, I played wrath of sparta and in one of my first battles my Gen of Royal Spartan turned the tide of battle alone killing 500+ enemies
My first campaign my general got killed by a garrison slinger in a village.
He's the first casualty.
@@canthurtcrt7370 lmao, made me chuckle
Odds against Sparta? No problem!
They have though he'll and back I mean they had 300 vs like 100000000 and they still fought them head on but lost after like 14 days
someone random well they had around 7000 against 100000 and then were defeated but still it was a hell of a stand
@@bromhead952 i am talking about the battle of thermoply

That WAS Thermopylae. There were about 7,000 Greeks and around 70,000-300,000 Persians that ended in a Persian victory.
Thebes is better than Sparta anyways.

That last stand! It reminds me of the "300" movie. They were outnumbered and sure to lose but the went to the bitter end. Epic!
I wish I had a replay of a single player battle I had where as the Romans I was fighting like 3-4 full Athenian stacks with 1 army and a garrison. My artillery were doing danger close fire into masses of Athenian soldiers, and due to a lack of micro my cavalry was wiped out and in order to try and deal with the archers I sent out a group of peasants to chase them to the end of the map and ordered them to come back and charge the rear of the Athenian army and assumed I was going to lose since my front line were getting close to 2 man thick. The last second the peasants came back and with a single rear attack routed the entire enemy army.
Noice
"They don't care if there's a thousand of them they'll fight you" said the exiled Spartan King to Xerses regarding the Spartans holding Thermophylae.
Hey, look. Henry is here!
If they hadn't allowed the towers to be neutralised, they would have won.
They didn't allow i think it's just if a enemy soldier happens to be on the circle the tower goes down but and then it requires a whole unit of the defence to put it back up
You do know that “Spartan hybrid soldiers.” That could have swords? Well in real life the Spartans DID use swords. They used them after their spears broke.
Yep, i think spartan units should be redone, just adding button to switch to sword which will change some stats, like increase dmg or something
7:30 Maybe because spartans only carried a short sword called a xiphos. This secondary weapon would have been used if the crush of battle rendered a hoplites spear useless or if it was broken. Same like asking why CA didn't let the Germans to have elephants.
But that would be nice if they were able to use that secondary weapon.
Me: *Watching total war*
Internet be like: "I hate you." *lags playing 360p*
Me: "I dun care." *watches with 144p*
Never surrender!
The never give up attitude!
24:15 I would be disheartened by that sight. You've fought for hours and what remains of your army is a few depleted units of wounded men, but your enemy marches up with several organized, fresh units. I would give up at that point
thats how spartan are made they were trained and recruited at the age of 7 and made them fight each other.
It is absolutely amazing how positive he always stays, especially in this times he absolutely makes my day
Yes it is Julian gandalf
Dude that was just so much fun to watch!!! I have tremendous respect for that player, for sticking with it!!
historically hoplites had swords as a secondary weapon and they usually use it when their phalanx was disrupted, or to go on rampage
The last part isn't true, Sparta were similar to Rome, where they believed in strict military discipline, and forming strong lines, hence why the hoplites are remembered above all other forces. They did have swords, but it was mostly down two if the phalanx was disrupted, or if they had broken their spear. Their swords would lash out from behind the shield, and reform straight after.
**SPARTA, we salute you!**
Watching this made me cry honestly. Like wow. This was like another Thermopylae. That had to be one of the best matches I have ever seen man, and the fact it was Roman’s he was facing! One of the best offensive factions for a siege, like wow. Truly a treat and an honor to watch this, and going out in true Spartan fashion; “if we will die this day and our enemies emerge victorious then make them pay for this victory in blood!”
Some really good feels about watching this. That general having 300+ kills alone was just freaking awesome !
i biblicaly watch all of your battles on here and by far, even with all of your old seige videos...this was the best one. It truly captures the spartan spirit. TO THE LAST MAN!!
I feel this guy man, respect for hanging in there! NEVER GIVE UP
Thx
At the begging those soldiers were just vibin and doing their squats
I was really excited and thinking this may have been my replay, but wasn't. Still a really cool video. Love ya Apollo, and enjoy watching everything you put out
Man I miss my days of playing Shogun 2, on my crappy Pentium 4 PC (got for free when my employer was liquidating). Now that I have a pretty good PC, I don't really have the time or wherewithal for all that competitive gaming stuff. But that's why it's nice that I can live vicariously through channels like this, reliving the glory days. (Did anybody else watch FishSandwichPatrol's battle videos? Wonder how he's doing these days...)
I had some truly incredible battles. Shogun 2 (pre-FOTS) was the pinnacle of the series IMO, but I have to admit I didn't spend much time with Medieval, basically none with Empire. At least a thousand hours on Shogun 2.
What you say is true, too, about opponents appreciating a good fight. As long as you're not kiting around with 1 cav unit just to waste time, people love a good honest scrap.
I really like your introduction. It's a lesson of life.
Anyway, i was playing troy total war and i was attacking Troy with all my armies to conquer it. The defense was simply too strong and destroyed almost all my units. I had just 3 units of centaurs and a few arpies. I reorganized my forces in the center of the city and i attacked with all the strategy i have. Now the city of troy and most of that part of the map is in my control. Total war is such a beautiful saga.
Hallelujah, that was an intense Spartan demonstration of morale and character. But also the Romans never gave up to break through...only the other defender was singing: I want to break free...RIP Freddy👑
I think Macadon is another good faction for defending because they also have a good combo of all units
macadon is good at defending but not as good at sparta. Macadon has great shock cav whereas sparta has none (i think they may have citizen cav but cit cav sucks major balls)
@@agentbarron3945 hmm agree with this... btw what about Epirus?
Those Romans fighting the general would be like ::
What can a Man do against such madness.
"Spartans do not ask how many, but where they are." I think it might have even been Rome TW1 that taught me that.
Love your vids, sir! This 1 and the last I watched, Napoleon French vs Coalition trickery with the Generals reminded me of my Sid Meiers Gettysburg Days. Use every tactic in the book and Never Surrender!
Yeah with what you said about the thorax swordsmen being good in many situations I remembered the Sparta vs Athens battle where that on thorax swordsmen unit was surrounded with Spartans and held for a while
23:05 I didn't know that about the pila! I've watched roman battles my whole life and I never knew that.
"One more victory, and we are done."
-Romans 😆
"Give up, You're surrounded!" "All I'm surrounded by is fear, and dead men."
"FORWARD!!!!!!! " .....chills bruh
Oof if waited for your vid all day
So glad it came so i have something nice to watch 👍
Nice battle !
Soldier :Sir were surrounded
General :Good so we dont have to move
This happened to me on my first online game, Attila total war, and I was attacking. They let me into the castle and we had a fight over the bridge 2v1. Awesome fight, I lost but one of my favourite battles ever 💪🏼
Scenario: the Gaul forces and their allies are under siege by the Romans, Rome was close to victory and the enemy retreating, but one commander decided to stay and fight to the last, this is their last stand.

I regret passing up the Sale. It's my first time watching an actual game play and I didn't know it was this fucking awesome. And your commentary? It really gets me hyped up. Guess I have to wait for another sale on Steam.
Good thing that there was no traitor Spartan to tell the Romans about the secret goat pass
Great fight! Great commentary! Awesome video pix!

That was awesome ;-; sooooooo epic... Love watching ur videos ♥

you do learn alot! You pick up on the little things when you care enough, youre absolutely right
that was the closes 2 vs 1 battle i have seen
Holy shit great battle one of the best battles I have watched ty apollo
There are like 5 people claiming first
That means their all first or none of them are.
I remember one of my best battles as a player, ever: my army was a noobie triplex acies and my allies was a horse rush. He got reckt in the first five minutes so both armies rushed me. Y had to cover both fronts, then use the triarii to slowly flank every blob one by one. When the battle seemed lost and my lines were about to break, the leftovers of my ally appeared, and saved me. In the end, i won with only two units remaining. I didnt have time to save it though, and that still haunts me to this day
Thank you for the video in these difficult times!
spartan general is like "oh were surrounded now it's an fair fight!"
Good vid man. Keep up the good content
@Apollo: "That's the best case scenario for them", Spartans: Yeah we're surrounded PERFECT! This killed me man been watching your videos like almost a hundred hours bought Rome 2 because of you loving the game!
I have a massive amount of respect for people like this. I always try to do everything possible to the last man so others can have that satisfaction of a good challenge and hopefully have respect for me
Respect any gamer with the none quit attitude, especially when they’re on my team. I don’t mind losing but if you quit and give up that shit really annoys me.
When the AI started moving the scorpions right behind the phalanx it broke me 🤣🤣
Looks like rome kinda pulled through at the end on the pike flank...you can see a bit of it when the piles broke the enemy cav
Everybody gangsta till the Praetorian guard and their Centurion, show up.
Kingman:
NO Retreat, No Surrender - THAT, is Spartan Law..
And BY Spartan Law we will STAND and FIGHT...
and die...
Roman general unit: sir they outnumber us 5 to one
General: then it is a fair fight
Sparta was the exact same way lol
The Spartans will always hold their title as legendary warriors
These are good vids I’m subing
In the old Rome total war you can use hoplites to use hold the line against thousands of units in towns or over bridges
Video ideas PA, top 10 best defensive stands/ attacks/ inventive tactics/ ambushes ECT... I binge these vids but even then it's difficult to keep track of all the good videos or matches that make you shout in disbelief because there's always another one to watch. Just a suggestion. Keep making the good clean content PA!
Love your vids man
I absolutely love this battle.
Wow... So like.. Tbh. Their flank being open is legit history repeating itself haha
Thank you for the compliment in the beginning of the vid apollo

Man I love this channel.
Whenever I play strategy games I play myself like I’m an adeptus astartes, show no fear, my duty to win only ends in death.
Bro the never quit attitude happens to me when i just give up, like that...”fuck it.” and i start strategizing and shit and like magically i always win, so i just try to get that feeling everytime.
That gondorian attitude fight fight the last man standing fight for your lives fight.
Once I crashed in the middle of a game and my friend used my unit placement to his advantage, using my men as a trap then sending his men to deal with the enemy
Great video and what you mentioned about sparta having a hybird Hoplite unit thats what the real spartains had both swords and spear. I have no idea why CA wouldnt write that into their faction. It really would of been great to see!!!
It's like the Battle of Thermopylae all over again for the Spartans.
Best last stand I’ve seen in any TW game
Awesome video! Your commentary was spot on. This would’ve been a glorious fight in real life. Realistically, Romans were too well organized, trained and calculated to overcome.
