Were you here on the channel for the Rome 2 days?
yep
yup
I started watching the channel when you were primarily playing Rome 2. I believe it was during your Octavian campaign.
Yes. 👍
I was.
I would love to see more Rome 2 content.
I have fond memories of watching heir play Rome 2 during my childhood. I remember one time I got really sick at a family reunion and was stuck in a bedroom the whole weekend. Binging a bunch of tournament replays heir covered from an event helped me stay happy. I go back every once in a while to rewatch those videos. Super nostalgic lol.
Crazy nostalgia, I remember the DEI Carthage Campaign.
Good times.
I forgot Oathsworn have about the same charge bonus as their own Light Cav.
Sometimes we just need a step away from fantasy. Many fond memories of the Rome II days came back.
God damn this is a throwback. I played the crap out of Rome 2 and remember watching you and all the other OG TW youtubers after school. Simpler times.
Great video oh the nostalgia, but am I taking crazy pills because this is most definitely Suebi vs Boii not Tylis.
This brings back memories. Buggy and frustrating memories, but memories nonetheless.
YES FINALLY. Watching this was so nostalgic! Please make more Rome 2 vids and if you ever need any battles I have a couple of good ones that were incredibly down to the wire with other outstanding players.
It is so hilarious that you posted this, cause just yesterday I was at my desk at work thinking that it had been too long since I played Rome 2, and was having a hankering to play it again. Then I see this! Always loved your Rome 2 videos, but ive been watching you since your Shogun 2 Takeda campaign. I always had a bit of a weakness for the Desert factions in Rome 2, would love to see some Kush gameplay whether that is multiplayer or campaign. The Shotel infantry are absolute beasts and look amazing.
Me too, just installed it yesterday thinking about the old replay's. Then I see this on my home feed and had a double take when I saw 'Posted 5 hours ago'
Ohhh Yeah! Thanks for casting! Good old times.
Thanks for sending! Awesome work micro managing the 3 wings of the army.
@@HeirofCarthage There is something about practice! Anytimes, I hope this gets a bunch of views Rome 2 is still alive quite allot of good players still playing.
I been following your channel since the Rome I days Heir, never mind Rome II lol. Yes it's good to see Rome II making a bit of a comeback :)
Hell yeah!! So happy to see this!!
Would love to see more Rome 2 siege battles!!
This is an amazing reboot of the epic online battles. I have literally watched and re-watched every single one of your multiplayer battle videos. Your commentary is always detailed, enlightening (especially to less experienced players like myself), and passionate. I am excited to see what awesome videos are to come!
Crazy! I started watching in Nov 2014 and have been a fan since! Thank you Heir for the GREAT and clean content!!
Oh My! Heir's back with Rome 2 content :) It'd be nice to see another 'alternative history' playthrough like with Hannibal and the Seleucid empire. that was fun.
Awesome love the return of the old content haha but i generally think that any campaign in any total war game you make will be epic , truly 🔥💪
I loved these videos for years! Please bring more!
Most definitely would like to see the other replay. Thanks for everything, and I hope you have a great day.
Great battle! Nostalgia hit was just what the doctor ordered.
I miss this game so much, loved watching your campaigns on this
WAIT WHAT!? is this a dream!? More Rome 2, pls!
I said this once and will say this again, your Rome 2 content is still unmatched. I do love to watch comp Rome 2 battles but they get repetitive unlike your battles. been here before Emperor Edition and still enjoying your commentary and gameplay!
All those flashing lights in my peripheral vision when looking at a computer screen would give me a migraine 🤣
FINALLY! Heir is back to Rome!
Rome 2 multi player battles on this channel going down in history. Over 400 of them and I still watch the playlist to this day.
I remember watching Rome 2 videos years ago. Those were good ones. Watched shogun 2 videos too.
DEATH IN BATTLE! There is no finer ending!
Great micro by the Suebi player. Love me some germanic barbarians. And look at that one bloodsworn unit, 237 kills!
Old but gold, never going out of style this and Shogun 2.
some good all rome 2, exactly what I need in these trying times
Gods! Rome 2 content is strong. Keep it up Heir!
Love the sponsor heir! Make that money make more content hahah
Edit: I feel like this sounds sarcastic but I really do love when creators I like get paid for their work.
Funny, rewachted most of the old multiplayer matches. Nice revisit
Rome 2 battles are wild to watch as a newcomer to the franchise. Just a bunch of patient faceoffs and attrition all over the place.
Welcome back SUEBI BLOB
Royal Peltast action next?
@@HeirofCarthage I hope so!
Funny I was watching your Rome 2 video from 8 years ago then I see this video!
Hey boy u back. We missed you
Thank you for the video!
Is there previous chapter: Tylis strikes back?
Lots of units having javelins is historically accurate. It was the celtic way of warfare and was ubiquitous throughout Europe. Greeks and Romans adopted it after Brennus's celtic horde invaded Greece and settled in Anatolia in 3rd century BC. Thats why you dont see hoplites using javelins , they were older styled troops, while thureos using troops all have javelins. So basically Rome 2 should be called Total War: Celts.
Thanks heir
Thank you for watching!
finally a total war video i want to watch
Entertaining play by Suebi!
Every Suebi battle I half expect them to start all bunched up around the general for the charge abilty...
Remembering Patchy brings tears of nostalgia in my eyes ;)
funny I just saw this, I got into playing the game again as a few buddies are trying to create like a custom sort of game made around Rome 2, where one guy acts as Game Master like in tabletop games and designed a hex board where we as the players will take turns moving around armies and should our armies meet, we load into Rome 2 to fight it out where we've prepicked a faction to represent our made up nation
I am not that great at mulitplayer in total war, I was kind of good at shogun 2, but not so much at this game, so I've been watching some of your old vids to see if I can learn something to beat my friends
I picked the Parthians who I'm not sure if they were considered very good in this game but I just wanted to use a bunch of horse bois
Love it
Dude you have 260k followers now 🤣🤣 I don’t remember what you were at during Rome 2 but you have had to have grown a lot since then.
What a battle!
A breathe of fresh air missed some Rome 2, the Suebi play has excellent micro.
Rome 2 is my favorite multiplayer in the TW series
OMG....it's baaaaaack!
Love me some Rome 2
Welcome back heir.... u never got to finish carthage faction focus part 2....
Yeah the javeline issue is bad, especially with Pergamon. Agema spear/ peltast spams are all I would see when picking a cav heavy faction at one point lol
oh glorius
More Rome 2 content please!
More Rome 2 please!!
Bruh… I need a historical campaign asap! Wtf?!
Hell yeah more Rome 2? Gib
Maybe it's time. Time to return to the Eternal City.
Now I want to install Rome 2... Any campaign suggestions Heir crew?
Nice
I was going to watch some old-school Rome 2 battle replays on your channel and was thrilled to see you uploaded some new ones! Thx
Woah since when did Wodanaz spears get buffed to medium weight? (granted I have only played DEI for very long time)
Kind of miss the simple main menu.
Edit: I don't miss the way my computer would absolutely CHUG through turn ends waiting for everything to happen around launch.
FINALLLLLLYYYYY
The Nostalgia…
As much fun as warhammer has been. It's time for a really good historical game
Much more tactical than Warhammer
sheesh rome 2? How longs it been lol
i'd watch the crap out of a rome 2 modded carthage campaign
Bruh been here since patchy been showing off his shamfur disprays
Heir its time again for a Patchy campaign.
A timeless comment, women are not using war bows in combat.
Metatron is a great source for this reasoning I believe
Thumbs up and next battle plz
It was boii in this battle not tylis 😂 easy mistake with the similarity of both factions
Oh yeah, I miss the Rome 2 days. If I’m honest, I’m not into the new fantasy titles, really not my bag. More of this would be awesome!
S[ ɛs] the U sounds like [Do] So let's begin with the three different ways to pronounce the German e the number one the e in berlin sounds like the english seond e in better or butter- bi [bee] Esdoebee? Suebi a Germanic tribe ;3
Huh, is no one noticing this is Suebi vs Boii, not Tylis?
so no one noticed its boii ...not tylis
Heir I started off with your Rome 2 videos and I will continue with them until you close your channel, lol
You kept saying "Tylis" when the faction is actually "Boii"
Heir of Carthage casted that battle 6 years ago... One of my favorite up until this day. Good old times.
czcams.com/video/E99Nrhczqks/video.html
That was turney play, Iceni vs Lusitani and you missed the chariots action was super funny xD
I went back to playing Rome I and Medieval II recently anf Rome 2 feels so shit in comparison.
tylis?
Honestly, this was the last era of good total war imo. Kinda shows in how much the devs stuck to trying to fix this game, a last hurrah of old total war lovers before things in CA went from bad to worse.
CA's newer total wars tend to ditch all complexities that made total war good in the favor of lazy hamfisted solutions. When was the last time you had a good siege battle with layered defenses? When was the last time high ground was something you tried to leverage in an infantry fight? I could go all day about this but Volound's probably done a better job than a total war layman like me.
Fantasy is nice but I can't help but feel like the series has lost its soul somewhere along the path.
Edit: If there was a competitor to total war, I'd be willing to give it a try just to see if I can experience that heyday of total war again.
Fantasy has its own set of complexities and nuances though. I've been playing the Total War series since Rome 1, and I believe the fantasy games to be the most nuanced entries of the whole series.
You're right though, the sieges aren't good in Warhammer, but they've always been pretty jank throughout the series, but I don't think sieges have been very good since Medieval 2.
Incidentally, there's this game called Grand Tactician: the Civil War that looks similar to Total War. I haven't played it myself, but it looks very much like a labor of love with a lot of fun historical detail. It might be worth checking out if you aren't happy with Total War's current direction.
@@jeffreymonsell659 I'd argue that despite the additions fantasy made, its become less nuanced. Take single unit entities for example, on paper it adds a whole layer of unit choice and tactics. In practice it forces the picking of a hyper specialized anti large unit, or another single entity to deal with it.
This turns the game into a rock paper scissors where half the time you win in the army selection screen. The game has become more about picking out a busted composition or countering said composition, you win or lose by your choice of unit or spells to counter said unit.
Lets us an example that used to define total war: you have an inferior unit or two facing a superior unit. Lets say 2 celt warriors vs 1 vet cohort, or 2 yari sam vs 1 katana sam.
You use positioning and flanking to overcome them, be it fighting downhill and/or flanking. It makes a notable difference in the outcome. Nowadays? Insignificant results. Let that sink in, some of the very core considerations that total war players always take, just gone.
And while medieval 2 sieges were the peak of the series, rome 2 and shogun 2 were up there in being pretty good compared to the garbage it is in the more recent entries. Its downright lazy, near 0 effort design. Bad gameplay aside, this isn't behaviour we should come to accept from game developers.
@@jeffreymonsell659 Heck, the warhammer mod for medieval 2 does things pretty well considering what they had to work with. Third age is a really good way to make a fantasy total war as well. I think its more the case that CA can do fantasy really well, but they just don't put the effort into fixing and perfecting mechanics in favor of just throwing it out.
