Yes, I prefer the "non apology" apology or even the GTFO of here non apology - I mean, everyone works at their own pace. Clearly he has and had other things that were demanding more time. So many presumptions in comments, though not THIS thread, so that is great. I suppose the comments can be entertaining, now and again.

I know the burnout feeling. We are now 2 years this month on our cabin build. It’s almost complete now. Few odds and ends and we can furnish it. Hard to stay motivated and the 100 miles from home slows things down too. We will get to the finish line. My goal is to have it listed on Airbnb in about 4 weeks.

I can relate to your stress of taking on too much. I retired 2.5 years ago and you’d think stress would have gone away. Well we moved to a new house with 10 acres out in the country from a house we had lived in for 15 years. Old house was very well organized with lots of storage. New house had no organized storage. I stressed that everything had go get done now! Wrong, step back and realize this is what I wanted and it was going to take a few years to get things organized. Hang in there and prioritize what’s most important. Life is a journey and we need to learn to enjoy it.

Such a beautiful environment you've created. Years ago in the early 80s when I lived out in the country in Texas, my nearest neighbor about a mile away was a 60-something single woman named Ora, whose father had built the small stone house she still lived in. She told us when she was a young woman she had gotten married but it lasted only 2 weeks before she went back to her parents. Of her marriage she said, "I didn't like it." So she had lived her whole life in the Texas limestone stone house her father had built by hand, probably in the 1910s or '20s. We used to buy raw milk from the one cow she kept. On one of our visits to pick up milk, she told us the story of her house, finishing with, "Every stone is dear to me." The intro to this video reminded me of Ora and her love of the stone house her father built. In the intro to this video you can feel the love in every detail of your cabin
I guess it gets magnified when you've been away for awhile.

Welcome back guys! I have always loved your channel! I can fully relate with being overwhelmed! I find that making a list of everything big and small that I need to get done then re-copying them down in the order of biggest priority to the smallest helps me a lot. At that point you, start at the top of the new prioritized list (which is your most critical item) and then work your way down the list in order. As you cross things off the list you feel less overwhelmed and the things you care about most get done before you move on to the next item. You may be doing this, but if not it can really make you feel better about making progress and you know what you have in front of you. There is nothing better than seeing the list get smaller which keeps you focused and feeling hopeful and not overwhelmed! You guys are in my prayers! Keep up the great work - the place looks awesome! I can still remember the video where you put the insulation board in the bedroom to keep warm because it was so cold! You have come a long way since then! Someone probably already suggested this, but check out RV fresh water system sanitation processes. It's pretty similar to your stated plan, but without the dye. Adding dye could certainly help you feel more certain. Basically, fill the tank with a bleach-water mix, run it through every faucet/fixture until you smell the bleach coming out. Turn all the water off and let it all sit for 24 hours. Then come in and rinse it out (pump out the tank if you don't want to run it ALL through the cabin's water lines...up to you). Fill the tank with fresh water and run it through all faucets for several minutes. Drain/pump it out again, fill with fresh again, repeat until there's no more bleach smell. Should only take 2-3 rinse cycles.
I assume filling the tank with fresh water isn't exactly easy at your off grid cabin, though. Good luck!
For extra schnitzengiggles, throw some campden tablets into the tank once you're done sanitizing your whole system so that incoming water gets a bit of treatment, too. There you have it, my unsolicited and maybe not-all-that-feasible advice!

My wife even was watching because she is looking for new bedding. Anyways, that minisplit is awesome. That one if my summer 2023 project at my cabin. I also get overwhelmed with things I need to get done. It helps if you plan for much more time for each project than you need. That way you aren't rushing if things take longer than you would like. Makes it more enjoyable. I also knock out all the quick things first. If I have 4 projects for the weekend, and 3 only take an hour each, I always knock them out first. It helps you mentally feel like you accomplished something, so you aren't rushing that last project. Just you doing them little projects relieved some of my stress!

Once you drain it and Clorox the crap out of that container it'll be just fine. We have a travel trailer and every winter somehow or another we wind up with mice getting in the freshwater tank. Being that it's in a camper we don't really have the option of removing the tank so we just fill it with bleach water and ice so it scrubs at it while we drive drain it and rinse it at the fill station and it's perfectly good every time. It's one of the only things that drives me nuts about country living.

    Hi
sorry to see that it get a tall on you, i have started my cabin in the mountains in France 2 years ago, and i know what you feel excatly, forgeting small stuff, driving for hours, seeing a list of To Do long as a train ... not even taking time to enjoy enough the nature and place i own... having a person next to you that first sees all you do and is capable of just saying "you push yourself too much" is enough to make you halt and/or slow down and allow yourself to not do stuff some times.
Enjoy your place looks awsome !

I highly recommend using PBW (powdered brewers wash) to clean your tank/pipes and Star-San to sanitize. These are chemicals used in beer making, commercial and home brew levels. 100% non toxic and leaves very little off flavors even if you don’t get 100% of it flushed out of your system. You can buy both of them online either Amazon or any home brew site. The starsan is a concentrate and I believe 1 oz of starsan mixes up 5 gallons of it. It sanitizes anything it touches in 30 seconds. You could fill the cistern after cleaning and dump the correct amount of starsan in. Give it a little mix with a drill paint mixer and then run it through all the taps. Done!
I use the stuff all the time to make beer and I’ve never had a bad batch!

Good to see you back man. Hey we all get to that point when too much is too much. One small step at a time. Getting those little things that are weighing on your mind finished is a mighty sense of accomplishment. Take a breather and recharge. It's good to set high goals but make sure they are obtainable. If you never meet the goals you set out to accomplish, it is quite discouraging. Good to see you back and remember that you are only one person, if you are doing majority of things by yourself then it will take longer. Set goals accordingly and you will find that you not only exceed your goals but that monkey won't get up and weigh down on you. Cheers from Ontario Canada

Don't stress yourself out too much about getting things done. People call it the spoon theory. Where you only have so many spoons you can use a day and some things take more than one spoon. Just do what you can. Also the little things in the cabin are "rountuits" you'll finish them when you get a rountuit.

You guys are darn busy!! It is no wonder why things get left undone. Lists. I can not work without them lol. I always put a few easy items at the top so I trick myself into feeling productive and then tackle a few big ones. I also never have more than 10 things on that list! When that day is done I focus on what I completed, not what I did not get done then add more items to the bottom of that list until I have 10 again lol..while I have missed the cabin videos, the shop videos have been awesome too hahahaha. Best to you both

Decided to purchase a Brooklyn Bedding RV Mattress and pick up local (Arizona, where its made) and first 5 days on it I have to say was the BEST sleep I've EVER gotten. Can't say enough great things about it's RV Mattress line.

@@50Acres Just as long as you don't do what my bother in law is prone to doing. My sister told me, she/the keep a ToDo lost on the refrigerator door.... 3 columns, his, hers, theirs. My sister said one day she noticed that as she would complete her chores and put a line thru them, she would notice that her list would suddenly have chores added below. When she took a closer look, she would find that her husband was moving some of his chores over to her list ...... not even to the theirs list, just hers. The theirs list was for things that they would do together. She said it was funny the first time ..... only the first time.
