  • With Adidas wrapping up the jersey manufacturing at the end of the season and fanatics taking over I wanted to look at the jersey makers over the years and try to figure out who made the jerseys best. I have my favorite but what brand do you guys like best?

I love the cut and fit of the Reebok 2.0's. Primgreen's are awesome, but nothung will ever beat the old school Center Ice CCM's!!!

For me, hands down CCM. There is no disputing it. Adidas with their Primegreen jerseys is #2 on my list. When it comes to Starter, ONLY their MiCs were obviously good. I own the very best (and original) Rangers "Lady Liberty" jerseys ever made. Both the navy and white ones. They were in a league of their own compared to the versions that followed while the team wore them. I will never ever part with those two jerseys while I'm still alive.
I do like your pristine Mario Lemieux jersey, but I never was a fan of that metallic gold color. They labelled it "Vegas Gold" but it sure isn't the color the Golden Knights use (thankfully). I do have a few Kohos in my collection, including those I acquired in a bulk sale early last year.
As for Reebok, I was so pissed off. As we know, NHL jerseys never have been made any better since then. We have had the occasional exceptions with the Reebok template such as the Phoenix Coyotes jerseys worn before the name change in 2014. I own both a home and away version of that. I was most pissed with them when they manufactured Rangers jerseys with the team name off center and looking like crap. And that team still has struggled to get it 100% right. I agree the vinyl material on Reebok shoulder patch logos were not the best quality either. And speaking of shoulder logos, today's CCM replicas for AHL teams like the Tucson Roadrunners, those were terrible! I bought their white Kachina alternate they wore for just last season was terrible.
Of course with the Adidas Primegreens, it was the best we have seen since CCM jerseys being retired in 2007, but the infuriating part with all Adidas jerseys, no MiCs widely available for retail purchase. We know it is very hard to find and afford if you get lucky on eBay, game worn auctions and if a team issues a few leftover MiCs meant only for players to their team store or equipment sale. I got lucky only once in getting a pair of Coyotes MiC "howling head" jerseys.
Like you, I pray Fanatics somehow miraculously step up and massively improve the quality of retail offerings. We heard they will finally offer us MiCs. I'm actually looking forward to your upcoming video on the Fanatics jerseys they are unveiling this month. And if you decide to buy any jerseys, unboxings!

I don't believe Starter ever had a factory north of the border. All the ones I have seen were from El Salvador or Berlin WI. Mine is from El Salvador. And is fine quality. You can try to pat Reebok on the back, but their jerseys were ugly as sin. I'm glad they are long gone.

Only got into this recently, but I got a couple of the replicas from koho and Reebok, got a climate and PG adidas. I love the adidas PG most, but the old koho is amazing and better than the Reeboks I got.
I will say tho that the adidas PG have amazing main logos, but they are very stiff. So if I put them on and they aren’t loose, then they are a lot more difficult to get on compared to all the other ones I have.
It is a fair trade off tbh given how nice the logos are done on the PG

I agree that CCM was the best at it, but the others were good in their own way:
Starter/Pro Player: As I mentioned, it depends on the team. If they wore the brand on the ice(eg. Montreal, NY Rangers, Phoenix), they looked okay. If they didn't(eg. Toronto, Vancouver, Detroit), they didn't look as good.
Nike/Bauer: Nike was fine, I didn't necessarily see any flaws in their product. I can only assume the same with Bauer as Nashville was the only team that used it and they looked okay.
Reebok: Again, as previously mentioned, my only gripe was the shoulder patches being all vinyl, but the rest of the jersey looked fine.
Adidas: I've had no issues with the Adidas jerseys, especially since they switched to Primegreen.
Fanatics: I can only base this on the Breakaway jerseys for now, but they showed no reason for us to be optimistic about what they do with the jerseys, especially after the debacle with Major League Baseball and their recent uniform changes. Time will tell, I suppose.

CCM. Two words: polyester ultrafil. Starter and Pro Player made nice sweaters, two. And they were the last versions that you could really call sweaters because of their weight and sizing. Once Reebok took over, they became JERSEYS not sweaters anymore.

    • @PatrickJonas-fb2rw

@@LHOH197 I guess the problem I have with the Reebok jerseys is that they developed a template around which all the new jerseys were designed, whereas before the template was made to fit the team's jersey design. Hence, we were introduced to the curved bottoms of the jerseys which looked odd and the strange apron strings they invented for the Avs, Panthers, and Oilers jerseys just to name a few. Your observations about the Reebok versions of the Pens and Sens uniforms are spot on. In my book, those Sens jerseys Reebok designed are the worst ever made (yes, even worse than the original Canucks "V" jerseys). I never could figure out what they were trying to do with those. Thankfully, they finally rebranded back to their original logo and jerseys. I never owned a Reebok. I guess my problem with them was always the template and the way it totally changed the way unis were designed across the league, for example the Stars jerseys, which you mentioned. There were many more examples. Thanks for the clarification, though, on the material of the Reeboks.

I didn't mind Starter/Pro Player so much, but it would depend on the team. If they wore the brand on the ice, then I was more in favor of the replicas. For example I have a Phoenix Coyotes Pro Player jersey, it looks fine. I've seen Maple Leafs jerseys in Pro Player or Starter(neither of which they wore on the ice), and they looked horrendous!

CCM jerseys are easily the best in quality because they didn't try to do anything silly. But I don't like how they look on me with the boxy cut and shorter sleeves. Reebok jerseys look the best on me, but their craftsmanship was poor. Adidas was supposed to fix that, but they had issues of their own with their jerseys flaring out at the bottom and the sizing inconsistencies. Also the fight strap is annoying and uncomfortable. The logos on the fanatics jerseys are pretty bad (the newer ones are better), but they also don't have any of adidas' issues. None of the jerseys were perfect, it depends on the person's preferences which one is the best.

    • @LHOH197

I always liked the CCM cut mainly because I'm a bigger guy so I liked the bigger and baggier fit and the sleeves I always thought were pretty cool it literally made it look like you had wings the reebok ones at least the premier jerseys were definitely not the greatest the 1 layer vinyl crap was just awful and the fact that they made the name and number kits were that 1 layer printed vinyl was just so dumb and hope that completely goes away
