Thank you for posting this video. It really helped me figure this out. My first time trying to disconnect things from my fuel tank so this was a big help.
Everything I needed to know. Thank you! And a very serious thank you to all who take the time to share knowledge with all. The value of this sharing platform is immeasurable.
No, thank you my friend have a good day
More technical videos like this please !!
Thanks for the video, pretty easy once someone shows you how it works.
The 6 people who gave the video a thumb down must still be having troubles LOL
I was just wondering -why would somebody give this video a thumb down? I have been wondering how in the heck that works.
Shawn they probably ride Suzuki’s... those boys usually get confused
jethro450 lmao

Awesome video this drove me just about crazy before I found this video!! thanks
I made it just for you man!
Thanks this helped a lot ✌️
Thanks it helps a lot 🙂
You might have earned sainthood posting this
Haha! Now if I could figure out how to take the header pipe off easily…
Saved me! Thanks heaps mate
We've all been there brother
Thank you!!
Thank you very very much sir!!
Thank you!
Thank you very much bro!
Thank you!!!
This video saved my bike from getting kicked off the stand in frustration
logan trigg Haha I’m right there with ya! I should have mentioned that once the electronic part is disconnected and the tank is unbolted, you have a little room to lift the tank up and get better access at the gas connection.
Would you be willing to make a video showing locations of the wiring harness i am about to rebuild mine from a bare frame and could use the help this video is helpful but showing come places where the electric hooks up or bolts on would be cool
Key! 🤘
I have yz450f 2013,when i am driving with 4th speed wet spark plugs and i cant start again
Wich problem can I have
LEGEND!
It’s a pain isn’t it?!
@@jethro450 haha yes it is, I was trying to go by the manual and could not figure it out this vid was so helpful!!
Great video. Where did you get the light blue plastic plug to keep the gas from coming out during maintenance?
That actually came with the bike brand new. Came in the bag with the owners manual. If you searched Rocky Mtn ATV’s oem parts pages you might find it in there. I’ve never seen it anywhere, but I haven’t looked either.
Thank you! That black retainer clip isn't covered well in the manual.
By well you mean at all haha
Great video. Just got a 14 250f and couldnt for the love of God figure it out lol
Right there with ya! Had the same experience, which is why I posted this, there wasn't any other video on here for it.
@@jethro450 I'm glad you did cause I would have ended breaking shit out of rage lol. That little black clip is what was pissing with me I didnt even know it was there
Do you know if an oversized fuel tank for a 2014 yz250f? With the engine reversed I can't find one that will fit.
How do i test to see if my bike is getting fuel?
Did you ever have any issues kickstarting this bike,I have a 14 yz250f,it runs fine but having problems kick starting ,thanks
I did when I had too much electronic stuff connected to it, nitrous and light. When I removed the nitrous, issue fixed. Also, your valves may be getting worn out of spec, sometimes hard starting is an indicator of worn valves
jethro450, is it necessary to pump/siphon the fuel out before disconnecting? Does fuel spill out when it's disconnected?
rockytoprescue fuel does spill but not like a regular tank. I actually have small plastic parts that came with the bike when new that u use to plug both ends when they’re disconnected
@@jethro450 hi thanks for the video. So just to clarify, does the entirety of the tank drain out if you didnt siphon or just what was in the line?
Alan Hendricks If you don’t plug the line it will spill out but it won’t spill out like a regular gas tank hose would, it will come much slower. Not a big deal if you’re just temporarily moving things on and off
What is the thing you're using as a stopper/plug for the fuel line?
It’s a Yamaha tool that supposedly came with the bike when it was new. I bought the bike second hand and the guy gave it to me. When I bought my ‘19 new it didn’t come with it so I’m not sure when Yamaha quit issuing them with new bikes and I haven’t been able to find where to buy it either.
@@jethro450 nifty little tool! I'm taking the plastics and tank off to clean everything and I'm wondering how much fuel will drain out, couldn't imagine it would be much.
Thanks.. damn clip..

I remember taking this gas connector off was very tricky but this will always be a good reference video for next time.
Maybe this is the version of snow bikes we need this year czcams.com/video/5XodIPm2kLw/video.html
I'll bet you can make some good powerslide videos like these guys do at the end
was the change worth it, u should show the install
I think so. I can't even tell there's an extra (almost) gallon in there. The weight is under the seat so I don't notice it all. In the summer it feels like it'll go 120 miles! Winter time is awesome too, I ride a long time before needing to refuel and I don't need to carry as much on the rear of the kit (terrible place to add weight)
Thank you so much, I love my new yz, but the gas tank is a bitch compared to my former 2003 yz
Right there with you man
Eeeee
I hate Yamaha for this set up
Agreed. You shouldn’t have to go to CZcams to figure out how to unhook a gas tank! They’ve been using this same system since 2014 (maybe earlier) and here we are, 7 years later, they’re still using this design.
@@jethro450 yep and it was the first time its had to come off on my bike and it was the biggest pain in the ass
