    I'm normally into sportscars but I have to say, this Civic e:HEV has suddenly peaked my interest when it comes to wanting a practical yet somewhat sporty but very economical car thats not a full EV. Very handy for city people who live in flats that don't have wallbox chargers and also could get almost 80mpg in city driving. 14:09 Such a good point about the lack of through-loading when the boot is so capacious and totally agree about how the rear seat armrest could feel more sturdy - i've watched a lot of Civic e;HEV reviews but this one is one of the best reviews Tish 👍

    Took delivery of my civic sport in blue two weeks ago. Absolutely awesome car. But biggest problem, due to euro laws, is if traffic sign recognition is on, and you above the speed limit, the car will bong to tell you.

      Yes I don’t like the level of warning, it’s too much. I don’t believe it can be adjusted down or off. Near me there’s a 40 that used to be 70. There’s no enforcement of the lower limit so cars travel ( usually) between 45 and 55. Travelling all of that at 40 could actually lead to abuse!!

    Was a toss up between the Civic E;HEV and the Corolla Touring. Went with the Corolla, I wanted an estate, and couldn't get a Civic E:Hev at the time for love nor money, but really, seeing the Civic in the flesh, it's very nice. Better packaging inside. Not complaining about the Corolla though, I love it, but the Honda is objectively better if you can find one (maybe not on reliability, will see). So if you don't care about estates and want more room for the kids at the back, probably the Honda. Or the Octavia Diesel Estate, if you do a lot of highway miles. Either, that would be my trio of choices.

    Forget VW/Audi/Skoda/BMW Mercedes/Stellantis group/Ford or anything else. These Hondas are the very best vehicles of their type followed closely by the Toyota Corolla. The technology is incredible and long term (if serviced properly) you will benefit from Honda reliability.

    You *almost* got how the Honda eCVT works here, Tish.
    When the petrol engine drives the wheels has nothing to do with the power. It is simply when the car goes above 45mph that the overdrive gear kicks in and the petrol engine is connected directly, while still being aided by electricity, if the extra power is needed. Below that speed, the drive is done by the electric motor only.
    Also, that engine noise has nothing to do with it being a Civic. That engine simply revs high to provide a solid boost to the electric generator/motor. It’s just as loud in the CR-V and the ZR-V.

    Currently own a simply OUTSTANDING Honda CR-V HYBRID with the same Power Train as the 23/24 CIVIC..,,average mpg being around 44 to 46. I previously owned the Series 10 CIVIC with the CVT transmission, (which gave no issues whatsoever, I must add).
    I have enjoyed HONDA vehicles since 2005, the first being an ACCORD..,years of trouble free Motoring.....BUT !!?
    For some un-excusable reason HONDA UK are now pricing themselves out of the UK market....the TOP RANGE CR-V Plug In Hybrid can set you back well over 54k, the CIVIC is now just under 40k, and the "Bland" ZR-V over 44k OTR.
    Honda would be well advised to look closely at their UK pricing structure and also the % increase on their PCP deals.,.,G.A.R.

    Going electric is better for the environment? I know it's better for the government that tax them. It is better for OEM's that over charge for them. It is better for the strip minners. Better for the piwer company. Definitely better for China. But the consumer and the environment have been deceived.

      @pillred5974 Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@pillred5974 I was very close to swapping my MK10 1.5 Sport for one but the steering on the one I was thinking of getting suffered from the sticky steering and then I read up on the problem. From what I can make out there are a lot of Civics out there with the issue and the way Honda have dealt with the matter is very poor. I presume you know it required a class action in the USA to get Honda to acknowledge the problem?

    • @pillred5974
      @pillred5974 Před 3 měsíci +1

      Yes, I did read about that but Honda has sold 300,000 Civics and there have been less than 300? instances of the steering problem in the US, and just a handful here in England, there are tens of thousands of owners who have had no trouble at all, if there was a problem with the manufacture or parts surely they would all be affected, it must be either a bad batch of parts or a software glitch it's a shame that Honda have not held their hands up and admitted there is a problem for the people affected. it will be interesting to see if there is a recall here (UK) I have nearly 3 years warranty left so I will have to wait and see. @@thedelaminator
