Ireland 50k , model 3 43k, Corolla 36k, - who would pay 50k -
I bet the 190hpCorrola with 2l engine is also 50k at comparable trims
Corolla is small. Honda is probably more flexible than a Model 3 but you're right it is pricey.
Build Quality civic vs Tesla. prefer the first one !
I thought Irish currency was the Euro?
It's a hybrid numnuts....that's why it's expensive....let me see you find a hybrid that's cheap....no matter what brand let's go
Honda is dreaming. They're pricing themselves out of the market.
Is it honda that are pricing themselves out of the Market or the Irish Politicians that are pricing them out of it!
....or are they 'intentionally' trying to kill off the Civic? - by slapping an exorbitant price tag on what otherwise looks like a fantastic car.
I can't decide whether Honda ACTUALLY want this latest Civic to be a success (it really should be), or not. If not, why not? ....do Honda think that it wouldn't stand a chance against SUV's if its price was lowered by 10k?? I think the opposite would happen. People would start to swap their SUV's for this Civic instead. But they won't do this at the Civic's current price point.
you can now buy one of these for around like 27K USD, in the US, much less than in the UK/EU. I would bet that they are prioritizing US sales vs. the UK/EU?
50k for a Civic? There's the answer.
I think you’re right, i have had two of them. Liked them but not worth €50k
Is 50k the base price or top of the line model?
In my country costed me 39k eur
It looks great (ie it’s not a bloody SUV!). Interior is great too, love the physical controls, but the price is a joke. If this was thirty grand, it’d be a best seller. At that price, it just will not sell which is a pity.
In Romania, the prices are: 34,500Eu, 36,000Eu and 39,500Eu. I ordered the Sport version in February, it arrived in September and I have already done 6,000km with it and an average consumption of 5l/100km. It's an incredible car, the reaction in the accelerator pedal, the ease with which the brake is dosed, the very good comfort in the conditions where the chassis is rigid and the suspension is exemplary in the turns. A little noisy with summer tires but unexpectedly sharp with winter tires. 410l trunk is not much, but if you know what you want from a car, the Civic is an excellent choice.
Too expensive in Ireland though!
How's it going so far Gelu? Mine is supposed to arrive in May! So excited!!!
@@xandrunull Since September 2023, I have done 18,500 km. Mostly in the city and its surroundings, being a family car, its purpose is to commute from the suburbs to the city center where the schools and offices are. Average consumption 5l/100km, but in the last 8,500km it has a consumption of 4.8l/100km. In extra-urban driving, I recorded a minimum of 3.9l/100km, and a maximum of 5.3l/100km. In the city, I also saw 11l/100km on segments of 300-400m (from one store to another) but as a daily average 4.5l - 5l/100km
Noisy above 90km/h and unbearable after 120km/h. So, the sound insulation below expectations. Problems with the wipers: when it snows very hard, ice and snow accumulates on the axis of the wipers and obstructs the view, quite a lot, at the bottom of the windshield. And because ice accumulates, inside in the same area, the glass steams up a lot. Even with the ventilation directed exclusively at the windshield, from time to time, you have to wipe with a dry cloth. The trunk with the scriptic 410l would be OK, but the hump between the rear wheels spoils your entire suitcase arrangement.
Otherwise, excellent car, comfortable, responsive acceleration in sport mode and easy in Eco. The sound that simulates gear changes but also the small suspensions of traction during brutal accelerations offer very pleasant sensations. Energy recovery is more aggressive in Sport mode than Eco, therefore Sport mode is not recommended for urban use: the accelerator pedal is too responsive in congested traffic and the energy recovery system, as I said, is too aggressive. That's why you will have a laugh full of shocks. The interior quality and ergonomics are very good. With the summer tires, it is, in my opinion, a bit too "stuck" on its trajectory, you have to put in some effort to change direction, but once on the trajectory it is like a train on the railway tracks. Probably due to the semi-performance stock tires. Even the winter ones do not disappoint, which I bought a little narrower and with a higher heel. I did this to slightly reduce the novel noise, because the roads are not among the best, but also because the suspension is a little stiff. And if we're still talking about rigidity, let's tackle the seats...just the same, slightly hard. The lumbar support doesn't delight me, it pushes my spine forward and it's disturbing. This may depend on the conformation of each user. It compensates for the heating in the seats which is well adjusted for the 3 intensity levels.
Conclusion...I feel good with this Civic. I like that it has two sides: a calm city and family car and an aggressive one only good for playing on the winding mountain roads where the steering, the tires and the engine torque are always and when you need it.
@@gelu8312 I can live with those :). Can't wait!

It's too expensive. I drive a Honda, but I wouldn't pay what they're asking for any of their range at present. Keep up the good work, Mark. Love your reviews!
Lovely looking car. I hope Saloons / Sedans make a come back as they look so classy and they tend to be more economical due their aerodynamics in comparison to currently popular crossovers.
The car pricingis positioned between luxury german brands and more affordable budget segment. Premium level spec and drive, for a little more than a budget sedan. A car to drive for ten years.
I waited for my U.K. spec. blue Advance for a full year. After having various powerful Merc’s and BMWs (last car was a M340i), the Civic really is the best engineered and built car I’ve had. A few things let it down (lack of tech. e.g. not even sat nav rerouting due to traffic nor a smartphone app), the inability to switch off the fake engine noise in Sport mode plus the ridiculously noisy sunroof when it’s open, but overall it genuinely drives as well with a better ride than my M340i that I no longer needed because I am now retired at 58 and the car sits in my garage more of the time so spending so much on a replacement M340i just wasn’t worth it.
Must've been hard going down from an M340i though. I drove one for a few days and can't imagine the Civic compares in anyway.
You would be very surprised how fast the Civic feels especially say 40 to 80mph I mean not as fast as the Beemer but not as far off as you would think.@@ln5747
I did the same as yourself and don't regret it, but I agree about the tech support.
I saw a video of the gizmo being unplugged
it provides the fake simulation f or gear changes
some side panel of the dash has to removed
should be a menu option in a future software upgrade
How about fuel consumption? well, you did say in any way.@@ln5747
German ADAC measured 70 dB at 130 kmhl/h...that was average of the class 20 years ago...Golf, Focus, Leon etc. are 2 db quiter...that's a huge difference. Love the looks inside and outside, but the lack of sound insulation is a mega deal breaker for me and a shame for Honda.
In Australia, sales numbers are low but the wait times for one are significant (~8 months) because the factory in Japan is heavily constrained by chip shortages. The price doesn't help and it should definitely be a lot more popular than it is!
Wait times are essentially nothing now in Australia one dealer told me if you want the civic ehev in white you can have it in two weeks. I think due to a high number of cancellations and more production you can get one pretty quickly.
In Canada, the base Civic is $28650. The Mazda 3 is $24200. The Civic is made 45 minutes down the road in Alliston, Ontario. The Mazda 3 is shipped from Mexico.
Yes but this one is a hybrid so more expensive. That lower price in Canadian is for the petrol version not for hybrid
@@liv0003 I'm Swiss and I would love to buy a petrol Civic.
In the UK a top spec with metallic is £40k+ so you are hit with additional tax plus long delivery times when I was looking two months ago. Instead I purchased a Skoda Superb (knobs and dials hence why I chose this rather than the Octavia) tdi - saved £10,000. Sorry Honda, been an owner many times in the past but you have lost the plot - no UK manufacturing and prices, for all the new models, are just too high, a real shame.
TBH Skoda are the perfect brand when you have to spend your own money on a car. I had Skoda's in the past (when I lived in Prague) and never had a single problem with any of them.
If you spec the Advance in Sonic grey pearl- the best colour option IMO. It's then sits under the 40k tax bracket. Then you can add the ducktail spoiler and mats on a separate invoice- still allowing you to avoid the silly extra tax. Agreed, Honda did originally price this better when it was released. Due to product costs for this new drive system, has hit Honda hard in this current economic climate. It's a shame the global economy has out priced a good car. I managed to screw my Stealership back to July prices, I paid 36k for Advance in Sonic grey pearl. Got a 5 year service plan with £700 chucked in foc. Dealers are willing to deal. You'll find one who's wanting to sell you one if you search hard
@@79blustone colour is such a personal thing and I really didn’t like grey. Also the pcp cost of the Honda versus the Skoda was significantly better for the Skoda and servicing costs are lower too but would have still purchased the Honda if only the pricing was competitive, sorry Honda. Hope you really enjoy your car.
@terryosborn That's OK, I can understand why it's not for everyone, life would be boring if it was. I used to be a Skoda Technician 9 years ago. I hope they've improved since. I remember changing EGR valves all day long. I particularly hated doing the 4x4 Yeti's as the transfer box had to come off to gain access to the back of the engine where the EGR sat. Used to drive me mad.... I moved to Japanese cars and I'm hooked, reliable and great to drive. I've got a GR Yaris for the weekends and now waiting for February for my Civic to arrive in the UK. I hope you your new purchase is trouble free 👍
I just picked up mine today Advance trim metallic red 365 miles for £36,000, went on the DVLA website popped in reg came back £170 VED, happy days the car was registered Oct 2023.
I have the exact same car and colour. Ordered mine in November 2022. Cost was when ordered was £34000. The car arrived at Honda dealer July 2023. Fortunately for me the dealer honoured the original price when ordered. For £34000 is is a fantastic car for the money. lovely to drive and currently averaging 47 miles to the gallon. However the car with the metallic red paint is now £41,000 in the UK Not sure that at the new price I would buy this new Honda Civic in the UK. By the way there is no gear box in the current new Civic!
I also have the same car. I was fortunate as I waited a week for mine as it was a cancelled order... even better I got it for the original price before it went up.
@@richardrichard9631 You will enjoy driving the new Honda Civic. I have had mine 6 months. Really easy car to live with
47 mpg is rather disappointing. My mother's 2021 Jazz hybrid is getting 65mpg so I thought the Civic may be mid 50s given it's the same system just a bigger, but still small car. I averaged 42 mpg in my 07 Civic 1.8 so to only get 47 mpg for a hybrid which adds a lot of expense seems somewhat pointless.
At £41,000 the road tax is over £500
@@Andy-zi1wj I would imagine deals would be done under £40k to save the tax, that's the list price.
Beautiful car Nobby. Can quite understand your enthusiasm for it. Good review as always. I think it has sonar rather than radar, though.
Mark. Great review! Okay yes too expensive. Honda need to look at that. However! Never to miss an opportunity! The Honda Civic every day before a silly stupid Tesla Model ..well any of the s*** vehicles coming from this bizarre brand. And let me throw in anything Kia or Hyundai. Check out the performance of the Civic. Impressive! Hybrid. Like Honda cars, the Civic will be around for decades and still going. As you highlight quality, design, attention to detail. No gimmicks and big central TVs! The Civic is better than and iD VW nonsense too. So just compare in value. The Civic should be at the top of the list for so many considering so many alternatives. The current design language of Honda is bang on! Thank you. The Civic is without doubt one of the best cars available in the world today.
as a Civic owner, I approve of the comment
One of the 72 I presume.......😊
@@nerfpaul2497 I don't know if one of the 72 but certainly one of the 4 in my city :). By the way, I'm from Romania. So even less than 72. :)))
I’m American 🇺🇸 and agree with your comments on this Civic’s design. Honda went back to their design roots and absolutely knocked it out of the park with the 11th generation design!
I love the understated, polished exterior paired with the semi- luxury interior. It’s a beautiful car and I’m super happy with mine.
Agree! This car has everything! Expensive but it's really superlative.
The price. It's ludicrously expensive for what it is, even taking inflation into account.
Probably because it's got an engine, battery and motor in it when normally it's one or the other.
@@GK-qc5ry I can't tell if you're trying to be funny or not.
I'd pay 35k for one. Not 50k
Sheeit, I'd happily pay even 40k, but 50 is defo a push.
That's what it goes for in my country. Why are they so expensive in Ireland?
It's a hybrid.......that's why it's expensive I want you to find a cheap hybrid no matter what brand let's go😊
Great review Nobby, as always. Such a pity about the price of this car, has so much going for it with great fuel efficiency.
As much as I love my formentor (and I do) I really miss my buttons😢.......Nice car and an excellent review as usual ❤
Honda showrooms where I live don't have any honda cars. You can get a decent spec skoda octavia 1.5 petrol with very good fuel consumption, 600 litre boot for 35k. 72 civics sold here in Ireland says it all.
Skoda is a winner on most levels
Your praise for the Civic's physical buttons are absolutely spot-on. Having driven the Civic Ehev, I'd take it over the current "screenfest-assault" Golf every day of the week. Shame. I used to love Golfs.
But why did I not buy the Civic and went for a BMW 128ti instead? Because I was quoted almost a year's delivery time for one and I was nervous about what this would do to my part-exchange value. But had the wait been more reasonable, I would probably have gone for it. The BMW 1 series is slightly easier to use because in addition to the physical buttons it also has the i-Drive control for the screen, so you're not jabbing at a touchscreen when you're on the move. But the Civic's economy is on another level to the Beemer and having had a Honda before, although the BMW 1 series' materials inside are of a slightly better quality, the Civic is probably screwed together slightly better. And it perhaps illustrates how pricey the Civic is when I was able to buy a 128ti BMW 1 series for the same price!
The 128ti is a much different car though, driven one and it's a hoot. Was that a new 128ti the same price?
Yes. List price for top of the range Civic and the BMW 128ti around £37k before options. Both quick, similar room inside front and back. Both have excellent quality interiors. Both handle very well. Apart from the hybrid trickery they're quite similar. Obviously economy with the Civic is much much better, but if your mileage is low, that may not be so critical. Both very capable cars.
But get a BMW 128ti quick if you're thinking about it, because BMW are about to ruin the next gen 1 series by removing the i-Drive control wheel, which avoids having to use a touch screen on the move, AND removing all buttons for heating and the ICE and putting everything through the touchscreen. When VW were so vilified for this, I just do not understand BMW getting rid of one of their strongest selling points. They've done the same to Mini too. BMW you are complete idiots for doing this. @@ln5747
@@ln5747
Yes, it's the same price because the UK isn't a complete welfare/nanny state where you are begrudged for buying a slightly more powerful car like it is in this kip over here. With the tax on cars in our potato land, you'd think we'd have a public transport system that would rival best European systems, but instead we have smelly buses and two trams. What a shame.
That's interesting. In Germany there's a huge price gap between a 128ti and a Civic. A Civic Sport nowadays goes for 41k EUR while a similarly spec'd 120i (!) goes for 49k EUR. The 128i easily breaks the 50k barrier here. For us it was a no-brainer to go with the Civic, especially since we got it last year for 20% less with the old 2023 price list. Lucky for us, the dealer still had a new one in his show room, so we didn't have to wait. That being said, the BMW is a nice car with a premium feel and as such made it onto our shortlist as well.
It's a CVT system, it doesn't have any gears to change! What you hear is fake noise and the impression that you are changing gears!
+1 for physical buttons at least. I still don't get why all these touchscreens and basically in-car iPads are legal when you can be done for touching your phone when driving.
Good point on the iPad.
@@NobbyOnCars Cheers. I'd love to know why that is though. My phone is mounted beside the centre console so it's in basically the same location as the aircon controls on my A7, but if a Garda (police for non-Irish readers 🙂) spots me tapping on it to change Spotify tracks, play with the maps etc I can be stopped and charged with an offence - but how is it any different to tapping and swiping on a touchscreen dash display or a giant tablet that's been glued to the dash?
I genuinely don't get it.
I think you may be incorrect. As long as the phone is attached to dash /windscreen I don't think it is an offence. If it is on your person it is an offence i.e.in hand or on your lap. Entry spec Dacia cars uses owners phone as touchscreen display and provides mounting point in the car. Open to correction if I'm wrong here. @@img00
@@NobbyOnCars Legislation has yet to catch up and may not because of the weight of manufacturer lobbies. The main reason they're moving to screens? They're cheaper than physical buttons. Cheaper to prototype, manufacture, update and offer different 'looks and features' for different trim levels and grades within a brand's range.
Completely agree. I have a new GTI Clubsport, and while a great car it's virtually IMPOSSIBLE to adjust the temperature let alone the seat heating at night. And I love tech. But haptic controls are just a joke.
Very good presentation and well slow talk understandable👍
In the USA dealers don't even talk to you if you are not shopping for a SUV
Thank you for the review! I wonder how it handles vs, say, the 2 series grand coupe?
A little sharper
I recently had a new civic as a hire car in South East Asia it was a 1.5 turbo what we don't get. nice car to drive but the biggest flaw is excessive road noise if they sort this and offer the 1.5 it would sell better.
A lovely motor , but I think Honda have over priced the Civic and the fact its a 2lt petrol hybrid will turn a lot of people off , and as you said they don't seem to be really pushing the brand in Ireland and the UK like they used to , and as usual a honest review 👍
Yeah theres the same hybrid tech 1.5 sized engine in the HRV. Honda should've put that as a cheaper option for the civic.
This year we were buying new car and I was in love with this Civic and even had test drive. My mind just couldn't get the fact they want 50 000e for Civic.
Ended up buying Formentor for over 8000e less.
Does your Civic have metallic red paint? It looks metallic which is just beautiful!
I’m American and bought a brand new 2023 Honda Civic Touring sedan this year. I’d been driving my ‘02 Civic LX for 18 years and desperately needed a new(er) car. My new Civic has a meteorite metallic gray exterior with a black/gray interior (gray seats). Very classy!
I’m not usually a fan of red cars, UNLESS they’re metallic red, preferably a metallic wine red. Unfortunately, red Civics in North America are a flat red, not metallic. I don’t usually care for gray either but my Civic’s gray has a subtle sparkle and seems to have a slight blue undertone to it which is just beautiful.
Honda really knocked it out of the park with the 11th generation Civic. They went back to their design roots. I love the understated, polished exterior paired with the semi-luxury interior. It’s a beautiful car and I’m super happy with it.
My Civic Touring sedan was $31.6K USD, $35K out the door. Definitely pricey for a Civic!
Looked at a new crv before buying my last car, even the Honda dealer said they are way over priced.
The price in Ireland is way to much for a civic, a corolla in the UK starts at £30,250 in Ireland it starts at €33,310. The civic in the UK starts at £34,995 and in Ireland starts at €48,999 where are Honda Ireland going with this starting price.
We're being ripped off
I have a gen 10, great value for money but the gen 11 raised by 16000 in price due to the hybrid engine, terrible idea from honda
I can't stand noisy cabins, this is already enough to erase the model from the shortlist.
Sales are low as everyone wants an SUV . Inflation has gone up, cost of raw materials transport everything gone up, so obviously sedan prices will go up too but people want to buy suv and will pay more for suv but not sedan. That’s the reality.
It’s also the hybrid model that he has, so there’s that premium.
In the potato land of Ireland, the CRV cost about the same as a 5 series lol
Best civic ever with a much better mpg i am so stupid for getting a crossover truck
I traded in my nice car for this Honda Civic. The quality in this car is just so cheap. Thin carpet, thin paint, low power, mostly aluminum construction. But I can’t justify the high price.
Tanks a million.
I really like this car but as someone said it looks like the front and the back have been designed by 2 different people. Also prices are Covid fuelled. A used one with a few miles is 40K
The Civic eHev is a very desirable car. I am yet to see a bad review of it. The issue is its $55,000 drive away in Australia which is getting up there in price.
I’ve had 3 of them. Loved them. Rumours that it will ceased to be sold in Ireland/Europe soon. Have you heard the same?
Nope but if the sales figures make their way to Honda, you could see why.
@@NobbyOnCars a damn shame!
I suspect Honda is taking a global view of the Civic this time round. All are Japan-made (at least for the EU), the factory ‘builds for real orders’, they make money on every car and they’re running at a capacity which is efficient for the factory and supply chain. Plus it’s a design format which is now ‘niche’ - unfortunately. Honda prospers from crossovers and a general ‘mix’. So, I don’t think they’re unduly bothered about being priced out by others like Skoda or Kia/Hyundai on a now ‘niche’ model. Welcome to 2023 & Beyond 😢….
You have hit the mark with what you have said. Honda are not chasing mass sales they are chasing profit.
Because I ordered one early 2023 2 months later Honda dealer rang me up and cancelled my order try again in March 2024 they said, upshot went full EV mg4 trophy in stock 7 days it was mine since upgraded pre reg x power 4 day wait.
It's a cvt there are no gear changes, it's a piped in gearchange sound to trick you.
I paid around €30k for my Civic Sport in Gibraltar. They hit the dealers and disappear. Awesome car for the money.
A great review of a great car, BUT....... in England this car would be subject to the luxury car tax for 5 years, that is a staggering £500 pa. That is crazy for something that is not an RS6 or a BMW M4.
They stopped orders then increaed it by thousands after taken new orders... Then the dealers are basing used for examples on the higher list prices..
It is a lovely vehicle.. very economic and should be very reliable...The price and the fact so many people want SUV is what will hurt Honda..
I don’t think you realised but you said the car had quick gear changes. It actually doesn’t have any gears as the engine mainly acts as a generator for the battery. The gear change are just fake sounds pumped through the speakers, but the fact that you didn’t realise means that they probably sound pretty realistic!
"the engine mainly acts as a generator for the battery. " That would be enough to end my interest in buying one. If the battery fails what happens?
There’s an 8 year warranty on the battery. Even after the warranty it would not be costly to replace the battery as it's so small!
That is too short a warranty, it is a single point of failure, old hybrids would still work without the battery, and the battery could be replaced aftermarket at a reasonable cost, I am not sure that will be possible with new auto engineering and onboard computers, sensors and parts that have to be programmed to be recognized by the ECU .@@rxs87
I ordered mine for about 40k Euro and now waiting to be delivered in their dealership, which will happen in June 2024.
Few things you didn't get right in your review and its important to mention:
- There is no gearbox. The sound you hear changing gears is purely artificial - that is one huge component less that you have to worry about when maintaining the car in the future.
- The pedals behind the steering wheel are actually to adjust the break regeneration strength and has nothing to do with changing gears.
50,000 EUROS way tooo much
New cam belt cost £2500 too expensive to buy and repair. Feels tinney. I loved mine though
Had a Civic and traded in for the new Mazda 3. Really pleased with it, better interior quality and 186bhp and I'm getting average 48 mph minimum.Still like the Civic but the Mazda is much better value.
I do like the 3. Bit tight in the back?
I like Hondas but they overpriced themselves. 50k is a lot, at this price point you get in Tucson/Sportage/Rav4 territory. I don’t think many people will chose the civic over those options o
As others said, this one is expensive and I believe hybrid and therefore automatic only!
(Even if it was "only" mild hybrid and manual first with an optional automatic, for whatever reason, like the Mazda 3 and of course cheaper, it wouldn't really be a problem!)
Even if this version has to exist, for those that want it, in this "day and age", Honda really should still be selling "normal", manual petrol, non hybrid models in the €25,000-40,000 range, not starting them around €50,000! 😯😂 .
I've never been the biggest fan of the Civic, but I rather like the outgoing generation - it was ALMOST saloon* and still pretty normal 😯😀🤘 .
*Which they should still sell here as they indeed do in other markets, but even then, I don't like the fact it has a turbo and prefer the naturally aspirated Mazda 3 and 6 (while of course the 6 should still be on sale, when it is in other markets!) 😀 .
High 30s should be where it’s at really.
The eHEV sound from the gear changes are weird
Looks like a lovely car, but very expensive for what it offers. Why do car manufacturers persist with black interiors? Surely there is scope for lighter colour materials coloured materials to be used on car interiors?
In my book going back to the 90's, this car day beside the corolla. Why would you now pay 15k more for a civic, over a corolla? Madness. Nice car though and always preferred the Civic, but wisdom prefers saving money , so .....
wtf, whats with the pricing... i bought it for 34k eur in slovakia
A proper car not a hideous SUV . Much the same size as previous Accords . Get rid of all the ridiculous tech bollocks , reduce the price by 15K , and you would have a very fine car .
Reduce the price by 10k and I'll buy one tomorrow.
Why so expensive in the UK / EU? In america can buy these for like 25K USD
I've driven it. It is excellent for what it is, considering my own pluses and minuses. But universally, it is 15% overpriced.
You clearly are not up to date with the already problematic short history of this generation for Europe:
Chip shortage in general and problems with parts suppliers and logitics in Japan specially.
Those, and especially the first, are the main reasons why they hardly sold any of these in Europe.
The newer SUVs from Honda are all made in China and elswhere but Japan, and they are already hitting the streets of Europe and you dont have to wait more than a year.
The hybrid Civic is EXCLUSIVELY made in Japan, and the specific problems mentioned above hit Honda Japan hard, and the Civic model specifically.
I have been waiting for 14 months now, with no real perspective on delivery.
Main thing that keeps me waiting is, fantastic car, not urgent (obviously) and the price.
When I ordered back in november 2022!!! the price was 37.000 euro for the top trim!!!, thats 13K less than what you mentioned in the video for a top trim in Ireland nowadays....
All brands suffered that.
@@NobbyOnCars yes, but not nearly as bad as Honda, with the Civic.
hybrid Civic for the EU market is only made in Japan, not anywhere else, like their other (SUV) lineup.
Wich explains why you can have an ZRV, CRV HRV quicker than a Civic.
A ZRV was a more recent model, and when you ordered one in 2023, you could get it already in 2023-2024.
There is a Dutch car website that made an overview of all delays, the Japanese were the worst.
Honda was the worst.
And the Civic was their worst model in terms of waiting....
Better off getting a 3 series with a price like that
No dealers
Shocking website
Overpriced
Even if you like it at the end money is spend better somewhere else. If Honda doesn't "love" Europe as it seems we have sadly to respect that and spend the money on better cars.
What like? any car better and I mean better is going to cost more believe me they will have cut corners in some way, there is a saying there is no such thing as a free lunch remember that.
If you're looking for efficient family car and don't listen to the wife who wants a SUV, that or a Corolla Touring 2.0L (which I have). I just like the estates too much, but the Civic is overall a better car. Of course there are a bunch of diesels also, and second hand cars will be much cheaper overall. But hey, it's a great car.
I test drove a Civic recently. Lovely car and tremendous to drive, but the model I tested was forty grand (UK). Far too expensive for what it is. My dad has bought a BMW for similar money, it feels far more premium than the Honda.
This or an octavia VRs??? Anyone I need suggestions
Not as spacious as the Skoda, this probably drives a little sharper.
IMO, it looks bland…like an 80s Toyota. Factor in the price, and it’s a dud.
There aren't any gear changes as there is no gearbox.
Was about to comment with the same thing. I am an Advance owner.
@@meurigjones5298 I am also. Had mine since September this year. Wonderful car to drive, I came from owning a FK8. (UK).
@@greymark420 had mine since May. First Honda for me. Love the car, except for the road departure mitigation. I switch it off every single journey. Hate it. Came from Skoda Superb Sportline. Fuel economy dipping slightly this week due to the cold temperatures.
@@meurigjones5298 Haha i do the same mate switch off the road departure. It's been great having the heated seats and steering wheel, yes fuel consumption will be less efficient in the cold weather. Also impressed with the Bose system.
1st too expensive 2nd way too long (for Switzerland with narrow parking slots) 3rd seating position waaaay too low esp. for elder people. Eventually you want comfort and not sport.
Because in Europe for example is over 33k euros while in USA you get one starting from 26k dollars and they get Manuals as well and better interiors within the Sport or Advanced I mean that sucks Americans don t even know to drive Manual bro Europe uses Manual wayy more than USA. I don t understand it. Nice car but the industry sucks.
Fine car,ludicrous price,!
Expensive yes but unfortunately since Honda 1:06 closed down the factory here in Swindon where production of the cars were originally made .public has lost faith in the brand ..
can’t wear the made in Britain tag anymore .
Never was bothered by the made in Britain tag. Thank god mine is made in Japan .
Is everything €50K to get into these days? 🙄🤔 … The Civic and Focus ‘were’ the rivals at that €30K mark, but je$u$, imagine telling your mates down the pub you spot €50K and it’s not the fast one 😂
dealer near me still wants 5k over msrp for a civic
Price.
5.5 litres per 100km?
That's about 51mpg
Mine has never done less than 55mpg (about 5.1 litres/100km) often more than that.
Don't know how you managed to get it so low.
"Gear changes are so low". It doesn't have a gearbox.
The reason they haven't sold many is that they aren't making / exporting many. In 5 months of ownership I've not seen another one on the road.
I wouldn’t call .4 in the difference much to be honest. Maybe I drive harder than you do.
Just drive it more like Ian Hutchinson. I can push it to 6.0 litres/100km (47 mpg) that way. :D
Measured at the pump or the dashboard?
The Honda range in Europe nowadays consists of overpriced cars, and the Civic is no exception.
Maybe in few years price will come down. Or buy used civic for around 20k
I see you’re not transporting in your black Audi anymore
I can tell you why I didn't get the Civic even if I think it's a good car: First of all, it's expensive. The base trim level is 35000 euro, that is basically 10 000 euro more than the last generatin with the 1.5 180 ps engine. Then there is the nonsense trims: you don't get the heated steering wheel for 35000 euro, you only get it in the higher trims. Basically, if you want heated steering wheel, you have to pay 42000 euro for the top trim. Now the problem is that the top trim has a panoramic roof. I don't like that. After that, the petrol tank is 40 liters, which is small. The load capacity is about 150kg lower compared to the last generation or the current i30. This is why I will, most likely, get the Hyundai i30 which is about 21000 euro. And it has heated steering wheel. An a manual. And 160 ps. And a 50 liter tank.
What country are you in for those prices?
@@NobbyOnCars Romania. We have some discounts on Hyundais compared to the rest of the EU.
Heated steering wheel 🤣
Just to say there is no gearbox in this car. It's just a computer program to make people think there is, and this includes the artificial sound of the engine revs.
Only in Sports mode.
From watching all the reviews seems the car is fantastic. Love the grown up looks too, and would buy it if it was lower than 35k. But at 50? Civic now goes head to head with wayyyyyy more competition, and many of them are just as good or better.
Honda wtf where you smoking????
As you say, it’s just a lot of money but it’s a cracking car!
help them out Nobby you buy one
Honda all over the world are selling cars at reduculous prices . People should boycott them which will upgrade there senses
Hello, if you want to drive the FL5 CTR, you can contact me if it is of interest to you
50k Euros!!!! Mate I dont know who is ripping you off in Ireland. This car is just over 30 K in Spain. I find that it is the same with other cars you have reviewed.
We're very wealthy in Ireland, so they say.
@@willpeony5534 lol, happy for u sir
i own civic 8th gen type R. Had test drive fl5 hybrid. Soulless experience. Cvt and fake padle shifters without any purpose. Interior doesnt feel premium. Dissapointing experience.
Honda Price + Irish Govt hoarding the money. 50K would rather buy a 30K drive fancish car! that's alot of money for a car which is a good around. But nothing about it shouts 50K
Haven't all cars gone up in price is called technology no such thing as a cheap car anymore
True but this particular car has jumped a lot
I found that the road noise was unacceptable above about 50mph. Not what I was expecting from a car with a premium price.
Premium price? really it's around £40,000 new top spec, today unfortunately, that's just the way it is, just buy a 5-year-old Lexus if the noise bothers you that much.
The Civic used to be a real hot hatch for decades. The way they redesigned the new model is unbelievable. It simply looks like something from another era. Most importantly though it's way too expensive compared to its competition. 70 units sold in Ire over a year says it all. Honda don't seem to be shouting about this model as there is nothing to shout about.
Apart from the fact it does 60mpg and 0 to 60 in 6.8 seconds (car Wow).
You can buy the most advanced fully electric car for €8k less! With fuel at less than 2p per mile (cf the Civic at 14p per mile), no Road tax, way more power and you set everything up for your personal comfort before you start driving (it remembers each driver’s settings). Then you enjoy the drive with both hands on the wheel, safely and above all, as relaxing as you can be behind the wheel of a car. Why the obsession with physical nobs?
If you can charge at home which I can't.
It’s far too expensive.
It 's a very japanese design and they rust.
Self charging? Explain please!
Marketing speak for a small battery that recharges from a petrol engine. But I’m sure you knew that.
quite noisy :(
