- For my first ever Kung Fu Panda discussion, I needed to dive into my favorite character in the series: Master Oogway. He’s the creator of kung fu, the founder of the Valley of Peace, the wisest animation character the world has ever known, and the tortoise that derived the Legend of the Dragon Warrior. He’s a kung fu master that was respected by Po, Master Shifu, the Furious Five, and all of China, and today I want to explain his story.

I have to admit when I first saw Oogway’s quote and quote death scene I cried and I was devastated for a character I never knew but had great wisdom. But the fact was he was old and his time was at hand and if he didn’t die Po wouldn’t have fulfilled his destiny and Shifu wouldn’t have found inner peace.

I wish there was a series about Oogway’s past. It would be so cool to see how Oogway was a young who might be brash in the past to the Kung fu master that is full of wisdom today.
Yeah. Seeing what event prompted oogway to go on his first journey of self discovery (eventually leading him to found Kung Fu), could be a really fascinating aspect of Oogway's story.

Isaac, thing is about peach blossom are a symbol of immortality and in Chinese mythology, were considered to be immortality grown by Heavenly Queen Mother but today are symbol of longevity and prosperity. Mangoes on the other hand from Indian Mythology are a food of the gods. By the way have you ever try a mango before?

I always thought that the Five's names came from the fact Shifu was distant. He gave Tai Lung a real name and didn't just call him leopard. But once he received the rest of the students he just named them what animals they were, as to not grow any attachment. I mean he spends most the first movie calling Po, Panda.

You know.......I just realized that when Master Oogway is meditating on his staff his neck is in between that gap at the top of his staff.......huh is that painful?
If it is, than it's probably the whole point. By doing so, he is tempering his patience and concentration by enduring pain in an effort to focus on clearing his mind without becoming distracted.

1:43 If I am not mistaken, I do believe that the peach represents immortality in Chinese culture. I would argue that it is a respectful nod to its Chinese roots, just as Mantis, Crane, Tigress, Viper, and Monkey represent the five different styles of kung fu.
There's a lot more than 5 different styles lol
The character of Tigress and Crane are just a references to an actual real life style of Chinese martial arts called Tiger-Crane style or also called Hung Ga
which is a southern style of Chinese Martial arts, just they decided to split them into 2 characters while keeping the reference

Oogway is by far my favorite character in the Kung Fu Panda universe. All my life I've strived to become someone like that who could share wisdom and heal inner wounds in others, and I still keep trying to get better at that today.

Anya Miller there isn’t really anything to go by Tigress’ parents abandoned her when she was a very young baby so we’ll never find them. They didn’t want her anyway

There's a little idea about oogway actually being the dragon warrior, that's how he knew who he was looking for, a replacement for himself but only when that person was ready.

Now that I'm older and know things about Chinese folklore, Master Oogaway seems like a modern adaptation of Xuanwu and I liked master Oogway more. Xuanwu is a Chinese God with powerful magic and martial arts. He is worshipped in Mount Wudang ( Korean novel and manhwas readers should know Wudang) and is the protagonist of Journey to the North a novel part of the four journeys which the Journey to the West is part of where he traveled to the North to kill demons.

I can't believe it, someone finally breakdown full story of Master Oogway. That's so cool. So much things I missed it, even I watch all Kung Fu Panda movies, short-movies, and TV Series.

In the Swedish translation of the movie Oogway doesn't say "there are no accidents" but rather "there are no coincidences" with is a quote i actually prefer as that has a lot more to do with destiny and fits in with the story the movies tries to tell. Either way I just thought that was a fun fact.

I remember when Shefu said “I’m not trying to turn you into me. I’m trying to turn you into you.” I thought I knew what that meant when I first heard it but now a few years later and having really expanded my skills and knowledge I know what that truly means. And it is beautiful

I was always under the impression Oogway started off as a warlord. A villain until he was saved by Pandas and learned the philosophy of kungfu and the path to be good. Kai did not fall from evil, he just didn't learn there was another patch and Oogway could not let it go.
Also, if he founded the Valley of Peace after, it makes sense as though it was part of his path of redemption.
Oogway and Iroh only need to share a cup of Jinsei tea,and the world will know peace😅

Both duos wanted to conquer the world, but Oogway and Dumbledore saw the how it was wrong so they had to stop their corrupt best friend(Or maybe lovers for Dumbledore and Grindlewald).

He has always taught everyone a lesson in the movies and I think it’s important for like that this movie should like teach the kids in the future what we learned from this movie because I think it’s a really important lesson for all of us.

i always saw oogway has a great teacher yet it did sadden me to see many of his students turn against him though i feel with kai more should have been explained. sorry that always bothered me kai and oogway learned this chi technique then boom kai is evil i feel their was more to it then that. still great video oh can you do a video explaining what happened to the night furies in how to train your dragon
